Maybe I'm wrong, but I think "Mario Bros" is the original Atari game about hitting monsters out of pipes that Nintendo shoved onto every Mario GBA cart, while SUPER Mario Bros is the NES platformer we all know and love.
Now, maybe it's just an error and it is super mario bros, but something tells me it's that stupid old school Mario game for the billionth time.
Could Nintendo have rolled out any more of it's generic sports games? That list is really painful and not the bang they should have used to start out its virtual console.... no wonder they kept the game list under wraps for so long.
Original Atari? Atari had no involvement other than licensing the game for consoles and computers. Their original license allowed Atari to release it solely on computers, interpreted as anything that came standard with a keyboard, with Coleco getting the console rights as they did with other Nintendo titles. After Coleco died the Atari license was extended to include consoles for a sum of money that would be considered pocket change by today's standards, even adjusting for inflation. Before they got into the hardware end in the NA market, Nintendo used to let license go remarkably cheap and hope for big royalties.
Mario Bros. for the Atari computers was delayed for years. They did a very good version but it came in at 20 kilobytes. 4K over the 16K limit for Atari carts without resorting to bank switching techniques and additional costs. The 7800 version, despite the greater graphic horsepower of that machine was awful, as were the other 7800 version of Nintendo titles compared to the 400/800 versions. The developers given the job were just inferior, IMHO.
With the exception of games already overly available on other venues, the pattern here seems to be aimed at recreating the chronological sequence of the games' original releases.
