Interesting.
I've voted in every election, primary, general, dinky 2-prop ballots, since I've turned 18 and have never had jury duty.
I'll be going later, I'm home with my sick boy and don't want to have him wait in that long line with me when he's not feeling well..
I would add an addendum to the topic title:
Educate yourself, Don't Believe the Hype, Read Between the Lines, *then* vote. THere's plenty of BS from all sides to sift through, I'd respect a voter who votes opposite from me, but has valid logical thought out and true reasons to do so, more so than a blindly allegiant voter for any other side.[/quote]

Yeah, I know at least here (IIRC) county jury duty is tied to your Driver's License/Identification, and Federal jury duty is tied to voter registration. Whether you go to the polls or not or not doesn't make a difference...if you're registered to vote, you're in the Federal jury pool.

Anyway, I don't know why people get so afraid of or upset about jury duty. The process is fascinating and even a little bit exciting. Not to mention, once you go through the process, even if you're not selected, you don't have to worry about being called again for a pretty lengthy period of time.

I probably would have if I'd have gotten the chance, I found out that I should gotten something in the mail after registering for the election. I didn't get a damn thing, but I'm heading out to vote soon.

Yep. It's actually easier and more convenient, but you don't get the cool little "I Voted!" sticker. :(
 
I hope mine counted. I went this morning at 7am after work. My county of Napa is using electronic voting this year. Well, it wasn't working so they had to hand out paper ballots (which I'm sure they ran out of soon after I left) and had no secure box to place them in, at one point one of the volunteer women handed somebody an already voted on ballot thinking it was a fresh one.....

I kept trying to call the elections office but, of course, their number was busy. The stub from my ballot says I can call in 21 days to check the status of my ballot. What the f*ck is that?! 21 days might as well be 5,000 years from election day.

You do if you drop it off at a voter precinct on the day of elections. But, if you had my experience then you are taking your chances....
 
I wonder how many on this forum would have not found time to vote had Halo's release day been the 2nd instead of the 9th? :D :D

Accordin g to ABCNews in some precincts of Ohio there are five hour long voting lines at the close of the pools. That's why some polls have been left open.
 
Good thing I'm not in Ohio anymore. Anybody have the arrow ballots? There were the both ends of an arrow after the candidates name and you connected the one you wanted to vote for. Was I supposed to get something in the mail when I registered? When I asked a USPS worker at the counter, she asked me if I got something in the mail, which I didn't.
 
Looking bad for Kerry at the moment... He's over a hundred thousand behind in Ohio and he needs that to wind. Still, 40% of the precincts still need to report.

I voted this afternoon, not that it matters. Va always goes Republican and being much more liberal my vote is all but ignored. Still I vote just to exercise my right. I wish they'd fix that electoral college thing.
