Waiting another 6 months for a 360?

At this point, I really want a next-gen system with "all the craze."

But the PS3 is too expensive.

The Wii is too hard to find, and have a MINIMAL amount of games that I want in the future, and currently.

The Xbox 360 is the system I think I've pretty much decided upon. But with all this talk about a new CPU, and a possible price drop maybe in 8 months? I think I might wait till June/July. Perhaps by then not only will the new CPU be out, but perhaps even a possible price drop, plus I'm sure a few games will be greatest hits or at least drop by 10 dollars in price by then? Plus theirs still a couple more months before the games that I REALLY want come out.

Or should I just get the 360 as soon as I find a good deal with a hundred dollars saving or more?

Just get a good deal, bite your lip, and jump on it.

No reason to need the new unit, if you want to be sure about that you'll need to wait a year, and then you'll miss out on all the action.

If I was in your shoes, but knowing what I know today, I would kill myself for not having one by now.

The 360 is the place to be for killer games.

What's all this talk about "all this talk about new CPU" it was rumored a while back, although its might happen at some point, its not going to affect the functionality of the unit that much, it might make it quiter or cooler but its no big deal. The main reason manufacturers change out the chips and so on is to save on costs.

Bottom line, the system is great, it obviously sounds like you made up your mind, really no reason to hold back now. Just get it and enjoy the best next gen game experience that's currently out there. Seize the Day!

There is little doubt that there will be a price drop in the coming months. The only real questions are when and how much.

As for the CPU upgrade, I believe the main reason Microsoft is switching to the 65 nm processor for the Xbox 360 is to lower the manufacturing cost, but besides reducing cost, the 65 nm processor will also use less power, which results in less heat produced.

Will someone with the 65 nm processor XBox 360 notice any difference when compared to an older 90 nm processor Xbox 360? I don't think so.

Will the new processor be more reliable? Possibly, but from what I have been reading, the overheating issues many have had with their Xbox 360 hasn't been attributed to the CPU. The real culprit seems to be the GPU and more specifically weak solder joints connecting the GPU to the main board.

From the end users perspective, I don't think the new processor will even be noticed, so I don't think it is anything to wait for.

So what you should be asking yourself is do you want to wait for an inevitable but unannounced price drop before getting into this new generation of gaming? I guess that depends on your financial situation and how excited you are about the new games.

P.S. My opinion is with games like Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas and Oblivion, how can you wait? Your missing out on some great games right now and with more great games coming in the future you'll never catch up. If you can afford it, buy now.

I just bought my 360 today, I think for 400 (with gift cards and what not cost me 140.) I also got Call of Duty 2 - Game of Year Edition and a 20 gift card as well. I think its a great deal and no reason to wait.

While I agree that the 360 is awesome, and I am loving mine, you should always wait if you can. Prices on systems, accessories, and games will all drop with time. The longer you wait, the cheaper it will be. However, you will not be having fun with a 360 during that wait time, so you have to weigh the options.

Okay I've decided....

I'm waiting until the next best deal where I can save 100$ or more.

Reason I'm saying 100$ is because a couple months ago their was a 80 dollars off this one site, I forgot, but i remember it was some computer company and you got like 60 dollars off the game and get 8 dollars off gears of war and save a bunch of money on other stuff or something like that.. and with the stuff I wanted, it was going to be around an 80 dollars saving.

And JUST recently, TRU sold it with a 100$ gift card.

So I guess I can wait until the next deal where I save at least 100 dollars..

Guess I'll be coming here more often then :p.

Plus my friend got one, so if I really want to I could always play his... since I don't have much time right now anyways.. even though it IS the holiday break, and I don't have one >:whistle2:(

I think that's a good idea. Remember there are a few deals going on right now that could save you $100, but yeah as soon as you find one you can use, go for it.
