So yeah, I got my call from Gamestop today, and I'm going to be on the second shipment. It's guaranteed (probably) before Christmas, but when before Christmas is not known as of yet. So Plan B is to hit up the only Wal-Mart Super Center in the entire state sometime Thursday afternoon, to see whether or not it's worth it to wait it out. Does anyone as of yet have any clue how the retailers who did not take Pre-Orders, Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, Target, maybe K-Mart, etc. will be handing out PS3's? Is it all going to be first come first serve for the people with nothing better to do then camp out all night? Will it be a lottery system for everyone who shows up either at Midnight or when the store opens friday morning? Any clue? I don't want one bad enough to camp out, that's for certain, but if everyone show up at 7am and has an equal chance to receive one, then I'm all for it.

Is there a point when stores will be allowed to say "We are getting xxxx number of systems"? I've been calling around, and everyone is like, "I don't know how many." It's a bit frustrating. I predict there will be murders across the country over this launch.

Hmm, well, not sure if the guy at my WM was accurate or not, but I was told they had 12 PS3s at the store - 8 60GB and 4 20GB. I figured the guy was right since he knew all about how they were setting up their lines and when they'd even allow for people to line up (apparently at noon on Thursday in the layaway area...so woot to only a 12 hour wait). But yea, on that note, he did say they very well might have "updated" info tomorrow (since he agreed with us when we said it was insanely stupid to have a "start up" time in a 24 hour store) and suggested we come back tomorrow to check again...but yea, that's all I can tell ya about WM at this point.

People will line up outside and sometime during the night the overnight manager (or early shift if the store isn't big enough for an overnight crew) will come outside and hand out numbered tickets indicating your place in line. If it is the same as the 360 launch (and from what I understand it is) there will be different tickets for the $500 and $600 machines. So the manager will go to the first person in line and ask them which one they want, give them the first ticket for that price, and so on down the line. After you get your ticket you can go home and come back when the store opens to get your console.

Well, I officially got 
ed by EB on my preorder. Went in there today and told I wouldn't be getting one Friday; they took 16 preorders and were only getting 8. That was bad enough, but it was worse that they screwed me (and other guys) over at the second EB store across town. (Dig up the PS3 preorder thread if you want to know how.) 
People are already camping at the majority of the stores around here, and I can't miss my classes tomorrow to camp!

Me: "Hi. I was wondering what was going to happen Friday, for the release of the PS3"?
Customer Service Woman: "Well, they are sold at 8:00 AM and it's first come, first served. And we were told that we were getting a limited supply of them. $599."
Me: "Okay, and do you know exactly how many you will be getting"?
CS Woman: "Um...only the managers do, and they aren't giving out that information. They told us a limited supply. I don't know what limited supply means to them, but I would think like 200 would be a limited supply."
Me: *snicker* "Okay, thanks..."
