That's a hit/miss they may let ya, btu WM shouldn't have a problem, you'll have better luck there than target.

Do you still have all of the packaging that came with it?

I shop in the NY/NJ area, and if you don't have a receipt you're out of luck. Period. I tried to exchange an unopened star wars figure to Target that my friend's brother bought without a receipt and they wouldnt do it. It even had the Target price tag on it. I only wanted to exchange it for a another $5 star wars figure and they wouldnt budge. I guess it all depends on the store and its manager.

Did you buy it from either of the retailers above? Are you going to return it to the store you bought it from, or just asking those two because they're closest to you?

Target can find your receipt within 90 days of purchase (their return/exchange period) if purchased with a credit card, check or Gift Card.

Walmart looks like they're in the same position, though not sure about receipt lookup.

The receipt look up at Target could work, but normally, Target is very strict about returns without receipts. Wal-Mart is much more lenient, but a GC system might be too much for even them.

You can returned unopened games and such to Wal-mart. Although it appears that you get the lowest price in the system or something. I don't think you are going to be able to return a broken piece of hardware without a receipt.

Not to sound naive, but I've never even heard of Cubes having disc read errors. Sounds like I have to jump on wagon with others and call it a scam.

I've seen a FAQ on gamefaqs about fixing disc errors by adjusting the lens in the 'cube, so that part of the story might be true.

Let's see, soda in the Gamecube isn't a manufacturer's defect, it's abuse.

Go suck it up and buy a new one, like you should.

Actually on Cubes and PS2's WM calls the manufacturer and runs the serial number. If it wasnt bought there within in 3 months youre screwed.

Yup, all stores scan serial numbers on PS2's, GC's, DS's, and I think PSP's. From that serial number you can get what store it was bought at, the date, etc. Don't try to scam Walmart or Target. I know some people think that is cool because they are "sticking it to the man," but the only person you are sticking it to is the person who doesn't know any better.
