Walmart: Futurama Volume 5... DVD $10, Blu $13

Didn't really have my eye on this since I've still got a lot of Futurama to catch up on. But at $13 for the blu-ray, I'll bite! Thanks, OP!

It may not be the same price in-store, though you can easily set up a ship-to-store order (assuming your store allows it) and you'll still get the same price for it with free shipping.
Remember this is only the FIRST part of season 5 ..
No, actually is it all of Season 5.

What they started to show last Thursday is Season 6.

The packaging says "Season 5", not "Season 5, Part 1" or "Volume 5".

This is all of Season 5.

thought that was season 5 part 2

with season 7 part 1 showing in 2012 and part 2 in 2013 (that is what it said in a issue of tv guide)

package says VOL 5 though (not really season 5)

EDIT guess it be Season 6 since season 5 was the movies

So this is only the first part of season 6 since season 5 was the 4 movies

David X. Cohen stated that the first thirteen episodes (known as Season 6-A[5]) will air during 2010 as one season and the remaining thirteen episodes (known as Season 6-B[5]) will air during 2011 as "another run".[6] This makes the episode "The Futurama Holiday Spectacular" the mid-season finale, despite airing almost twelve weeks after Futurama's 100th episode.[7] The final episode of the season, "Reincarnation", is set to air in late 2011 as a three-segment non-canonical special after the official season finale

I had 8 bucks on a gift card so it only cost me 2.70 to order so i did ... will cancell if amazon price matches
Nice! I love Futurama, hopefully amazon will price match.
Hi,

Often Amazon will reduce their price but they need to be made aware of the lower price at other sites. On most product pages there is a tell us about a lower price? link at the bottom of the Product Details section. If you click there you can report the lower price. They don't always change their pricing based on this input, but it seems that if there are a lot of folks reporting the price they do (such as the Back To The Future price match to the Target deal). You can find the BD version fo Futurama: Volume 5 here. Unfortunately they typically don't price match on things other than pre-orders so this is the best bet if you want to try and get Amazon to sell something at a lower price.

Here's the short version of all that:

This set (Volume 5) contains episodes 601-613. 614 aired last week, season 6 will end this year. Season 7 will air in 2012-2013.

Here's the episode list on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futurama_(season_6)

I dont think the movies are Season 5. Wasnt Volume 4 on dvd comprised of both Seasons 4 and 5, with season 5 just being really short?

Thought I read that somewhere before.

The first 4 volumes consist of the first 4 production seasons. The movies are the fifth production season. The first 4 production seasons were broadcast as 5 seasons. The movies are not considered a broadcast season, therefore whichever way you consider the seasons the current one is season 6.

Compare the list on IMDB (broadcast seasons): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0149460/episodes

to the list on wikipedia (production seasons): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Futurama_episodes

Volume 5 is season 6A. What started last week is season 6B, the movies are season 5 and next year will be season 7A.

tried pricematching this at Best Buy today but they told me they could only pricematch the store's prices not walmart.com's prices. :/

Talked to both a cashier and manager, so nothing I could really do.

And couldnt find this at 2 different Wal-Marts. may do in store pick up. Anyone know how long this is on sale?

damn, the confusion about seasons / volume is crazy, I'm still confused. First, i thought the 're-birth' was being started as Season 6?? why would movies be considered 'seasonal'? Do ya'll ever reference epguides.com for info? here is what i see for season 6:

89 6-01 6ACV01 24/Jun/10 Rebirth [Trailer]
90 6-02 6ACV02 24/Jun/10 In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela
91 6-03 6ACV03 01/Jul/10 Attack of the Killer App
92 6-04 6ACV04 08/Jul/10 Proposition Infinity
93 6-05 6ACV05 15/Jul/10 The Duh-Vinci Code
94 6-06 6ACV06 22/Jul/10 Lethal Inspection
95 6-07 6ACV07 29/Jul/10 The Late Philip J. Fry
96 6-08 6ACV08 05/Aug/10 That Darn Katz!
97 6-09 6ACV09 12/Aug/10 A Clockwork Origin
98 6-10 6ACV10 19/Aug/10 The Prisoner of Benda
99 6-11 6ACV11 26/Aug/10 Lrrreconcilable Ndndifferences
100 6-12 6ACV12 02/Sep/10 The Mutants Are Revolting
101 6-13 6ACV13 21/Nov/10 The Futurama Holiday Spectacular
102 6-14 6ACV20 23/Jun/11 Neutopia
103 6-15 6ACV17 23/Jun/11 Benderama
104 6-16 6ACV19 30/Jun/11 Ghost in the Machines

108 6-20 6ACV23 28/Jul/11 All the Presidents' Heads
109 6-21 6ACV15 04/Aug/11 Möbius Dick

so does volume 5 pertain to Season 5 or what? I may still try to PM this at BB if it is in fact the stuff that aired last summer..

Volume 5 is the first 13 episodes of season 6. Volume 4 contains Seasons 4 and 5.

wow, awesome thanks, I guess if I weren't lazy I could have went to Amazon and looked

yeah, I definitely want in on this, I really thought the episodes were good, missed out last week, definitely be on top of it tonight!

That sucks. My BB always pm's Walmart.com's prices.

What really throws in a monkey wench in the works is though it aired as season 4 and season 5 on Fox, it was produced as only season 4. Due to its early time slot it was often pre-empted by sporting events so that by the end of the broadcast season 4, Fox still had 16 unaired episodes, which became season 5. That's why there are 4 volumes, but 5 network broadcast seasons.

The movies are considered a season by some because they were designed in such a way that they could play as a feature, or be cut down into 4 episodes when shown in syndication. 4 movies each with 4 parts works out to 16 episodes, production "season" 5, but "broadcast" season 6. There are no plans to release a box set with the 16 episodes cut up in that form.

Then you have these new episodes which are produced in 26 episode batches, but were always intended to air in 2 separate broadcast seasons. So then it could be considered production season 6, but broadcast season 7 and 8 (or 6 and 7 if you don't consider the 4 movies really a season) and you can see why they stuck to using "volume" to describe the DVD releases.

I made a slight mistake, it looks like the movies were considered season 5 for some reason, though I find that stupid. So here's a fix:

Volume 1: Season 1
Volume 2: Season 2
Volume 3: Season 3
Volume 4: Season 4
4 Direct to Video Movies: Season 5
Volume 5: Season 6 PART 1

Hope that clears things up.
damn it its already dead. OOS online. no ship to store.
I was wondering if anyone had an update on whether WalMart is expected to get on-line stock again? I submitted the lower price info to Amazon and hope others have done it as well, but their price has not lowered yet either.

Be patient and keep checking back. They restocked the DVD set briefly a few days ago, and yesterday they had the Blu-ray set back in stock for about an hour.

Hi,

Good to hear it is in stock from time to time. I have been checking a couple times a day for about a week and haven't run across it being available yet. Now that I know availability comes up occassionally I will check even more often.

Thanks,

Chris
Was just able to pick the Blu, so jump on it!
Damn... Me too.

Futurama DVDs are great, even with all the episodeson Netflix because even if the episode sucks the commentaries are too funny.
