Changing this to a FAQs for those that need some help getting these deals.

When I order online it shows X price for in store, but changes to Y price at checkout, what gives?
You can only do in store pickup for the clearance price if the item is available for pick up that day. If it isn't the price will be the online price instead. Sometimes the item will be shipped to that store if it is no longer at that store. It may adjust to the clearance price at pickup but it could also charge you full price for it.

Can I buy the item at one store and return / rebuy at another?
Yes but it is up to the stores discretion to allow you to get it for that stores in store price. If it is an online order, they are supposed to return it to the warehouse it came from so you will not be able to buy it back. It's YMMV on employees following this rule though.

Can I price match a Walmart clearance item at X store?
No. No store, including Walmart, PMs clearance prices. YMMV on getting PMs for these items but it is against every stores policy to do so.

I want to price match this clearance item at another Walmart, will they allow me to?
No WM (or any retailer) PMs the prices of other local stores.

BS said X of an item is in stock, but the employee said it isn't at my store, why did they lie to me?
They didn't. Sometimes items are misplaced, stolen, or the count is off. Employees are not all over the massive stock room nor do they know where every item is. Don't harass an employee or come on here saying they are keeping it for themselves. Sometimes, an item truly isn't in the store.

Why is BS always wrong?
BS is not wrong. Their information is directly from WM systems. Just like all stores, inventory and prices may be wrong for a certain store. Do not rely only on BS.

How do I find clearance items?
Go to the store and scan items, check SD, check this thread. Actually look for something you want.

Where in the store are clearance games located?

Clearance items in general can be on shelves, in dedicated clearance sections or in the stock room. For games specifically, they will be in the videogame glass cases, videogame value game isle or dedicated clearance section. It's random and depends on that stores layout / management.

What is the SKU or item number of this item?
Look it up yourself. There is a search function on this site, on BS site and you can Google the item almost 100% of the time. No one needs to spoon feed you this information and we shouldn't have 20 people asking for the same information that was already posted.

Acronyms to know.
WM = Walmart
PM = Price Match
TRU = Toysrus
BS = Brickseek
SD = Slickdeals

Previous orders of used games have been in excellent condotion. They have always come with a clean case. Disc is in excellent shape. Game in case is plastic wrapped. Not all games have come with a manual, but not all new games come with manual. Dlc codes and inserts have never been included for me. Generally better condition that anything I've gotten from gamestop or amazon. At least that's been my experience. As always with used games it can be YMMV.

I've never bought a used game from Walmart (as I can usually get new ones for less), but I don't think I've ever seen a used game on the rack that didn't have the original artwork. Maybe they do sell them like that, I'm not an expert or anything, but I've personally never seen them without the artwork.

I have seen them without the artwork, which is odd because when you trade games into Walmart they won't take them without the artwork.

Yeah, its pretty sad Walmart can sell better condition used games than the game "specialist" that is Gamestop.
Watched a GS employee accept a PS4 controller clearly chewed on by a dog today, which he then put out on their accessory wall. Thought that was funny lol

Not Clearance related but the last few Wal-marts I've stopped by had 1-3 Splatoon Switch Bundles in stock.  Full price but it was weird to see them pop up everywhere again. (Why couldn't they be Odyssey bundles instead?)

I live in the south so most stores have it in stock here, lol. I was actually looking at these yesterday. It's not a need so I'll be passing. They are $250 here.

Glad I got the Laptop bundle from a few weeks back, but I was expecting it to be a little faster considering it's processor and 8GB RAM and I was upgrading from six or so year old PCs. Was hoping to be able to finally play Forza Apex, but it only has .5 VRAM instead of the 2GB. Unlike my Surface Pro (1st Gen) it actually let me install it and play it with a warning that performance may be affected. On absolute minimum settings it was still a little janky and the road often turned into the sky textures. Makes me wish I hadn't hesitated on going for the HP Platinum Gaming laptop last summer. There was a display model that looked like it had never been turned on or touched and marked as $600 at a store when that store actually dropped them to $150. Didn't go that day as I had mixed feelings about getting a display model and it was a little out of the way and I was busy that day. Still, this laptop filled an immediate need to replace my old dying PCs so gaming be damned I guess.

Do yourself a favor and invest in a solid state drive: you’re going to see a far more significant performance bump from that than you will from upgrading your RAM or getting a machine with powerful processor. Depending on your budget, the brand and how much storage space you need, you can get a great SSD for anywhere from $100-$400. Old spinning disk hard drives are still good for pure raw storage of files, but modern operating systems and programs are so demanding now that an SSD is practically a necessity in laptop computers.

Did some brickseeking, and of the half dozen Walmarts in my area, that single store was the only one that had those games on clearance. I did get a PS4 Shovel Night for $7 at another one though.

Yeah, been keeping an eye out for a SSD deal for the laptop.

I've been thinking about doing just that. I bought this laptop for work and I miss having an ssd. I was looking into one of those hard drive caddies that take the place of the optical drive. Take out the 1 TB drive and put it in there for storage and use the main drive spot for a ssd.

Not this past year but the year before that I believe, Black Friday 2016 had some awesome deals on Crucial SSDs through Amazon...I think all of their drives were half-price or less, so you could get a 750GB SSD for $100. Alas, nothing has come even remotely close to that since then, but I've been keeping my eye on the 1TB and 2TB SSDs...if they ever drop to $200 and $300, respectively, I'm pouncing all over that.

This is a solid option if you never use your optical drive: place a large capacity HD into that slot with an optibay kit and then purchase a small capacity SSD (250GB or less) to use as your boot drive. You can install your OS and all of your applications onto the SSD and take advantage of its speed and processing power, while storing all of your raw data files onto the HD. I've done that for many clients who brought in their older pre-2012 MacBook Pros and no longer needed to use CDs or DVDs (since Apple already moved away from all physical media).

How hard are these things to install? My laptop could definitely use one but I'm afraid of bricking the damn thing with my inepitude lol
I'm unsure. I've been a macbook user for quite a while and never changed one. I'm adding mine as a 2nd drive to a brand new HP gaming desktop thanks to this thread.

I am pretty sure most modern laptops have an access cover directly over the hdd to make changing it out a snap. Maybe a good idea to type your laptop model and "hard drive change" into youtube?

Speaking of the tubes, there is a good video showing the disassembly and upgrade of that HP 580 desktop. https://youtu.be/Xg1wnK4OFXY

Swapping out hard drives is pretty easy to do, except for when certain laptop manufacturers don't want it to be. The part that is the stickler is moving the OS from the old disk to the new. If you aren't open to re-installing the OS and all updates/applications, or if you don't have a Linux computer to use the dd command to copy data from old to new, (IME) you're going to have a bad time.

Hmm, sounds like it might be better to just stick an ssd into the desktop and leave the laptop alone. I probably would have a bad time if I attempted anything with the laptop.

I miss the days when a new laptop came with a model-specific disc that had a barebones OS on it (usually Windows XP or Vista) that you could always use to install the system onto a new drive or whatever. If you’re local in SoCal, I’d even offer to do it for you for free as long as you had a copy of the OS...unfortunately, once I became an ACMT technician, most of my experience is with Macs now. I started on PCs though, so I doubt I’d get too mixed up with current machines...haha.

I wouldn't bother putting an SSD in a laptop. NAND flash is good, but unless you have a gaming or high performance laptop it's not going to do much. And only about 190GB of usable storage after Windows 10 installs means you won't get many newer games on there, and older ones won't really need faster loading times anyway. And you should use a desktop for high-end designing software.

And yeah, I miss physical OS installation discs too. Hell, the last laptop I bought in 2015 didn't even come with a disc drive. Out of the four I own, only my 2014 HP Pavilion has one. Granted, one of those laptops is a Macbook Air...

Jesus, Windows 10 is a 60GB install? Good fuck ing God...macOS High Sierra is only ~20GB. :shame:

I don't think it's 60gb, unless bloatware somehow accounts for 30gb+. I bought a 120gb SSD for my new htpc, and put Windows 10 Education version on it (apparently the equivalent of enterprise; home < pro < education <= enterprise) and although I'm not at home to check, I know I wasn't left with only 50gb - 60gb of storage space.

Edit: Quick Google search says 64-bit Windows 10 install is ~20gb. Not sure how big the software updates are, but again I highly doubts they're 30gb - 40gb.

Also you have o take into account that even brand spanking new hard drives aren't the full storage capacity.
I'm guessing they bought a 240gb hard drive, there was that reserved space (which I assume brought it down to about 220gb).

It's extremely easy to replace the stock HDD with an SSD. You just have to link your Microsoft account to said laptop BEFORE you remove the HDD, then do a clean install of Windows 10 (you have to make a boot drive). Click through the installation wizard, and then reactivate windows 10 license from the desktop activation settings window.

Not as convenient as a CD, but still relatively easy.

The actual storage for a 250GB drive is 232.83GiB due to data being stored in powers of 2, and you want to leave at least 10% free for a main OS drive. So I wouldn't recommend it for a laptop, not when games like Destiny 2 unpack to 68GB.

It is not. I have had multiple HP Stream laptops with the 32gb eemc storage and they have all had Windows 10 64 bit. After doing a fresh install, there was still ~8gb free.

Yeah, the only reason I said that was because someone had said they were only left with 190GB after installation, and since we had just mentioned a 250GB SSD, I was just doing the simple subtraction. The newer macOS systems supposedly use all of the available space on the drive (i.e., a 275GB Crucial MX300 SSD with Sierra on it makes available the full 275GB for usage), although it definitely wouldn’t surprise me if this wasn’t actually the case.

It’s really a matter of preference, honestly: if you don’t keep a lot of things (media, in particular) on your local drive and just use it for programs and gaming, 250GB is fine depending on how big the installations take. For instance, I had no idea Destiny 2 was a nearly 70GB install...that’s pretty damn big.

What can you do with 8GB left? This is an honest question, by the way...no snark intended. Even email and word processing/Office-like apps take up SOME space on the local drive...what the hell can you do with a laptop with a drive that size? I hate older MacBook Airs because they had 64GB SSDs in them and they always come in because people “run out of space”...it’s maddening!

Anyone near Fairhope, AL?

Not exactly gaming related, but Walmart has Gillette fusion pro glide 8 cartridge refills at $5 at some stores, good deal if you burn through them

I found multiple copies of Skyrim Legendary Edition for the PS3 for $.03 a few weeks back.

I have been lurking clearance and closeout deals for many years, and this winter clearance has probably yielded some of the most insane finds I've ever gotten.

I found well over 100 games for $1-3; some of the titles you guys literally wouldn't believe me if I told you; stuff like Mario Maker Wii U, Layton Azran Legacy 3DS (8 copies), limited edition Xbox 360 conteollers, etc, jist to name a very few.

Outside of video games I've found awesome wi fi home security cameras for $13, magic bullet blenders for $10, Canon wireless inkjet printers for $13, and I managed to snag the 32" Samsung curved monitor and just got the 40" Samsung 4k TV yesterday, both at the $169 price.

I'm not trying to flex my clearance luck on you guys, if I wanted to do that I would list out everything that I have bought in the last 2-3 weeks, and many of you would vomit in your mouths.

I just want to reiterate that there are some really good deals out there to be found this year, especially if you are willing to put in the research time and legwork.

My best advice is to tell you to be diligent about checking stores, especially if you have one close to you. Diligent as in go every day or twice a day if you can fit in into your schedule.

Like many others have mentioned, most of these stores are a total unorganized mess, both in the front and in the back stock rooms. I would literally buy a few copies of something, and come back the next day or 2-3 days later, and there would be another one on the shelf. Just be persistent.

Yeah, I did the sex with this super model and that super model, but I'm not even bragging because if I were I'd tell you about all the other super models I did the sex on. Yall woudnt believe!!!

Yeah this Walmart clearance has yieleded some of the best stuff I’ve ever found but it’s just been on around me. The rest were mostly just meh deals

Henrietta (Rochester) NY had the best if not only good game clearance section I’ve ever seen at a Walmart. At every other WM I’ve been to cross country since 2013 it’s always been WWE ‘12 with Randy Orton and Madden 2012 on “clearance “ for like $55.

Here they had tons of recent current gen stuff for $10-20 like Witcher Complete , Hitman (albeit same price as on sale at B.B. and GS this week), Dirt 4.

But the pick of the litter was Stardew Valley PS4. Sticker said $5, rang up as ONE DOLLAR. I’ll post receipt later if someone needs it while arguin*with local CS.

So my local Wal-Mart here in Provo, UT has LEGO City Undercover for Nintendo Switch for $10. Obviously I bought it lol!

But they also had Rayman Legends for Switch for $10 as well. But it's sold out. My question is, can I take a picture of just the price tag and try to price match it at a different store?

I think electronics are the only thing that goes on clearance at all the Wal-Mart's in my county. I've gotten good deals on those lately but games seem to stay full price and then just disappear. Only thing I've ever found game wise is Mario Party 10 for $10 but no other games are even on clearance. Hmm.

You could always buy it at another Walmart and return it to the one that has t at $10 and tell them they had it cheaper, you wanna do a return/rebuy.

I've managed some electronics on clearance at walmart, but I never seem to see much in the way of games on clearance.  I lucked out on that laptop top, but was unable to get the 32" curved monitor.
