Want: Disc Resurfacer/scratch remover

Not from my experience, but I have heard nothing but good things about the Memorex Optiplex Pro, or whatever it is exactly called. These can be found for $20 at Target and Wal-mart.

I have a "game-doctor" that works pretty well (get the motorized one, the crank versions take FOREVER)

it works pretty well on light and medium scratched.

This might be off topic, but are there any for really scratched up discs because I have some PS1 games and yeah they are really scratched up. I was 5, I didn't know any better =P

I tried that Memorex on a used copy of Jade Empire that I couldn't get to play. It was pretty scratched up. Even after using the device multiple times the game still wouldn't play.

If you wanna get really cheap, you can use a paste toothpaste to fill in the scratches.
Then, let it dry and use a slightly damp cloth to wipe off excess.
Use a chamois or glasses cloth to buff.

Edit: gel toothpaste is not as effective.
Also, this method will have your games smelling "minty" and is inferior to using a Game Doctor.
But, if you're cheap, then you're cheap, right?

You can go buy some normal tooth paste... I heard a lot of people complain that Game Dr. don't work. That's why a lot of stores don't carry them anymore.

GameStop has their disc skip fixer, which takes some skill to use, but once you get the hang of it, it is pretty good.

P.S. Don't expect ANY method to be full-proof! If the scratches are too deep, you might as well buy another copy of the game (unless you have $500 to throw at a professional disc resurfacing machine!)

Go to GameCrazy, Hastings, or a local record shop/ independent video game store and get the disc professionally resurfaced. I get my discs resurfaced at Hastings for $2 each. It is definitely worth the time to make the drive. I have done this with several discs ranging from PC, PS1, and GameCube games.

I have had bad experience in the past with Game/Skip Dr. and other crank disc scratch remover products. The problem with the Game Dr. is that it leaves a pattern on the disc instead of just buffing the scratch out.
Do you know the cost for Gamecrazy?
$5 for 5 resurfaces(ask for a disc buffing card) or $2 for a single disc. But it's a no brainer to just ask for the card.

I see, thanks.
Now, all my scratched up PS1 games will breath new life.

Tooth paste, Game Drs, and most of those shitty "Do-It-Yourself" kits won't work on deep scratches, but may help with some scratched discs.

QFT. Most of these machines are merely to comprehensively clean the discs...not to repair them. Repairs are made with those professional machines that truly re-surface.

I picked one of those up last week to see how well it would work. I tried it on several games and it really doesn't seem to do anything but make the disc shinier. I tried a few discs with very light scratches, and even one with just a greasy looking smudged fingerprint on it. It didn't even clean the smudged fingerprint off completely! It did make the discs look shiny-ish. I ended up taking it back the next day for a refund.

does anyone know if all gamecrazy offer the resurfacing card (5 for 5 dollars)? i tried calling my gamecrazy and they said they dont and that i should get the MVP to get 8 resurfaces. im just wondering are they just trying to make me get the MVP?

I fixed 2 360 games that had circular scratches by putting on some NuFinish Car Polish, letting it dry for at least 15 minutes, and the gently cleaning it with a duster cloth (dust sticks to it). It took me 3 tries on the first disc and about 5 on the second one.
