Want to set up DDR with only a PC/Xbox 360

I'm suddenly interested in getting DDR but I don't want one of those sorry-ass mats that you lay on the floor, I want a big metal pad to play on and I'm looking for the best game/pad solution for either PC or Xbox 360. Not looking for cheapest, mainly best.

I'm pretty sure the only way to get a decent non-soft pad for the 360 requires modding a soft pad or using the XFPS.

You can get stepmania for PC, and use google, I've seen people that got old PS2 mats and used some wood and sheet metal and turned it into a metal pad like at the arcade, or if you have $200 to spend on a good metal dance pad
