Wanted: Cheap and Effective CAR ALARM

Thomas96

CAGiversary!
My fellow CAGs, I am in dire need of a Cheap Car Alarm for my car. My car has been broken into 3 times in the past couple of months, it down to the point where I don't even keep anything in my car and yet its still being broken into. So basically I need some recommendations of a cheap car alarm, and one that I don't have to worry about draining my car Battery if it goes off. I don't know much about car alarms so I definitely need assistance in trying to pick the right one. Any help you guys (and gals) could lend would be Greatly Appreciated.

No alarm can keep a thief from getting into the car and grab things. Well, it just sounds like you want an alarm that just makes a lot of noise. If you want to do this cheaply, you can buy an alarm online and install it yourself or have someone you know do it for you. Otherwise, you're going to have to check a car alarm dealer, though be warned of Best Buy or other huge retail installers. Their main priority is just to get the alarm installed and they usually don't spend too much time on placing it in areas where it will be difficult for the thief to get to. If you can, have them take out the dashboard and install it behind there, then encase the alarm in foam making it even difficult to even get to the alarm. If it takes a thief more than 30 min to disarm the alarm, they will most likely, if not always, just leave the car. Another thing you might want to look into would be a kill switch. Its a cheap effective layer of security. It's best to have layers of security for your car if you're really worried.

i have a used Viper alarm system that i had taken out of my old car (wrecked it, d'oh)

Viper 771XV Series Car Alarm/Remote Start** (Was taken out of my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am Se, works 100%, everything but the under hood button is included but the part varies between cars, so it is not needed, (horn may be missing also, but i believe i have it,)

pictures are on another website i use, im pretty sure you can view it without becoming a member
