Update: Now trade in ANY DVD* for a Blu-Ray within the selected list.

*Qualifying DVDs include any Warner Bros. or non-Warner Bros. pre-recorded discs that contain professionally produced film content purchased at a regular retail or e-commerce store [excluding adult content]

From their FAQ...
Q: For television seasons, do I have to send in more than one disc?

A: No. You only have to send 1 DVD to receive the entire television season in Blu-ray. The DVD you send does not have to be from a TV show.

Q: Can you give an example?

A: Let’s assume you would like to receive six (6) movies and two (2) TV seasons on Blu-ray (so eight items in total). To receive these eight titles, you now need to send eight qualifying DVDs (without case) to our processing center.

Q:Can I really swap any DVD for a new Blu-ray disc?

A: Yes, qualifying DVDs include any pre-recorded discs that contain professionally produced content purchased at a regular retail or e-commerce store (excluding adult content). The DVDs can contain film, TV, sports, animation or documentary content and can be from Warner Bros. or non-Warner Bros. Blank or copied DVDs do not qualify.

Q: Does it have to be a movie DVD?

A: No, also qualifying are DVDs containing TV, sports, animation or documentary content.

I'll post an update in a few. On the phone with on of their CSR's. I asked if Multi-disc sets like TV shows would count as 1 bluray per disc and if special feature discs would count.
They said special feature discs wouldnt work but TV shows would
Uh-oh. I sent in a special feature disc from a TV series (24). Whoops. We'll see what happens then.

So I'm right then? You could send in any DVD and get any of those blus? Doesn't even have to be the same movie to movie upgrade?

That just seems insane, awesome if that's right though.

edit- Looking at some of these on Amazon, some can be had for not much more than WB is charging, plus you don't have to send a DVD or pay for that postage.

Exactly what I was saying. The TV sets are the best deal, the individual movies however are either just barely deals, or not really deals at all. Most if not all of those movies will probably be available for the same price on black friday.

yeah, the tv sets are where it's at. I snagged season 1 and 2 of chuck and an american in paris for $40 shipped. not a shabby deal at all

Season 1&2 of chuck, Season 1 of Terminator, and Fringe Season 1.

I have a disc only season of the Simpsons I got for like $.70 when gamestop was clearancing out there movies that I'll send in for them :)

I think it's a mistake to say all these will have black Friday deals. I also think it's a mistake to say these are going to be cheaper for the ones that do have deals. Really, what do you think, the stores are going to give them away for free? These are br disks at bargain bin DVD prices. Certainly everyone I know has a pile of garbage dvds they regret buying. Time to do some house cleaning and stop hoarding crap.

Tossed in an order for Chuck S1 and Chuck S2 as well as American In Paris.

I'll be sending them discs 2 - 4 from my Supernatural S1 that I had already sent in disc 1 from for Supernatural S1 on BR when they ran their free shipping sale.

Eh, i went for it - grabbed Chuck S1, Terminator S1&2, then wedding crashers and Final Destination.
Shouldn't be hard to find 5 discs to send in (have the SD versions of the 2 movies already)

Y'all are dumb. There's some good deals on there. Corpse Bride for $4.95? Amazon's trying to peddle that for $25 right now.

And they pay for you to ship the discs to them... they e-mailed me a pre-paid postage label to print after I ordered.

I agree. Seriously, do people really think everything on this list is going to go for less on black Friday? It seems very unlikely to me. What are people expecting, $1 blu ray?

The BR discs look a bit better than broadcast, though the audio is standard DD5.1, so it's not as good as a lossless track. It's good, but not better than it could have been.

There's a lot of cool extras on them though... and lots of them are in HD.

TSCC is one of the best TV series I've watched in years. It really picked up its game in the second season. Was a shame it was cancelled at its peak :(

No more talk about TSCC it makes my blood boil. Damn near every time I get into a series it gets shitkicked to the curb. Firefly is another one Arrgh my blood pressure:)

Yea i def liked it. I'll wind up watching it with the wife who hasn't seen it - and I'm sure i'll get an earful when I tell her that there's no more after the finale.

Not all of them can be had for as cheap as on there, but some certainly can. Check out V for Vendetta blu on Amazon for example.

13.99?

I never said it was a bad deal. Just to keep this non-argument going though, if you only ordered that it would $4.95 + tax + shipping, which for me would be $9.90. Plus if you're the impatient type, Amazon is almost guaranteed to be faster.

And unless you have prime (which you generally have to pay for unless you have kids or lie about having kids), you have to pay shipping unless you buy more there! I got rid of 9 DVD's that are garbage, thus making space on my DVD rack and I'm getting 9 Blu's that are GOOD. I don't see how you can go wrong. I mean, 4.95 is bargain bin pricing for DVD's, not Blu's.

Did you factor into the price of your new blus the original prices of the DVDs you traded in? And again, talking about the same film, you can actually get it for $8.25 including shipping on amazon.

Also, free 1 month trial of prime.

If this deal doesn't interest you there are other threads you can troll... Move along dear friend.

In for

Chuck S2
V for Vendetta
Dumb and Dumber
The Mask
Wedding Crashers

Still going to try and send in a special features disc as my DVD's

Seriously? Have you heard of the dollar store? It's 1 dollar + tax for a dvd. So tack on a dollar to each blu and you still come out ahead. And which films can be had on Amazon for 8.25 after shipping. 1? 2? hell, we can give you the benefit of the doubt and say 10. Yay 10 films that I may not want for 8.25. And of those 10 that I may want, again...dollar store dvd.

Do you factor in the original price of a car when you buy a new one? No, like dvd's it's a depriciating asset. Most dvd's have little to no resale value and that's the price you factor in. And yes, I looked up the going value of the dvd's. Most are worth 1 dollar or less. Your logic reminds me of a coworker who tried to sell me his used car for the price he bought it for last year.
Why would you factor in the original price of the DVD? That would be like the guy on Craigslist we kept making fun of in another forum because he wanted to sell his HD-DVD Xbox add-on player for close to what he paid for it... because of how much he paid for it. Even though you could get a new one for 1/4 of his asking price.

Here is a question? Since they say that special feature disk doesnt count but WB says they will take documentary content, I thought special feature disk is a documentary content of a film.

FYI, check your local used stores. Around here I can pick up cheap DVDs for $1/each.

Also, check yard sales if there are any left in your neighborhood. Another place to pick up cheap DVDs to send in.

This is ridiculous, I picked out 14 titles for about $80 all in, already picked out the titles I'm trading out, most are "upgrades".

Here I was going to just give away a lot of my dvd's I didn't want anymore when I stumble across this thread. Think I have a new idea of what to do with some of them...

Most people aren't getting just one blu though, they are getting several. Once you have more than one added, you save compared to amazon. And using your math:

$9.90 for the price of one. Add $4.95 to that and you get it for under $15.00 including shipping.

Two blus from amazon at the $8.25 price, and you're looking at $16.50 with shipping.

So if you want one blu, sure, you may go with amazon. But since most are getting multiple, this is the way to go.

They're talking about March of the Penguins or Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, not The Making of Van Wilder.

Exactly. A 10-minute special where they talk about how they made the film is not a documentary film.
I got my 9 movies today. It took about 10 days counting 2 weekends. I shipped the Friday before last.
Did you get a shipping email? I send mine in the Thursday before last (the 28th). I noticed a charge for the BR pop up this past Thursday, but no word on tracking numbers.
