A heads-up to those XBL customers who might be pushing the limits with their gamertag mottos...

It appears Microsoft has decided to crack down on naughty gamertag mottos, as I was recently suspended for my "Konichiwa, bitches!" motto, which I've had since before the Xbox 360 launch. They should have banned me for spelling "konnichiwa" wrong.
The suspension seems to last a little over 24 hours.

Zewone also got banned recently for his motto, "called the šhit þoop".

I guess Microsoft has created some kind of script that will automatically check gamer mottos for all kinds of creative variations.

I think the ban is really unnecessary. Since Microsoft changed the mottos anyway, a simple warning email saying your next offence will result in a ban would have sufficed.

It is crazy that you guys got banned and yet earlier I played with a dude named fatass (he also had some numbers after his name). I would think that they would focus on tags more than mottos, but I guess that isn't the case.

My guess would be that scornful Halo 3 opponents are filing complaints.

So now, anyone who's been using stockpiles of 48-hour Live codes needs to start randomly inserting curse words into their tags and mottos to see what MS doesn't like.

...Just kidding. That would just be stupid. :booty:

I suspected that is what happened when your 'Konichiwa, bitches!' was missing .
Lame , but I guess they don't want the new breed to get the wrong impression of XBL .

It's stemming from sore losers on Halo 3. Trus' me.

Good thing I decided against using "Dildorrhea".
I wonder if its triggered when users file complaints?
It could be a combination of that and the fact that the gamer motto is very easy to access for users. Some complaints probably were filed against Cheapy, Zewone, and others and when Microsoft discovered a questionable gamer motto they likely figured they had enough reason to justify a short-term ban.

Nice.

MS: "The Xbox 360 is yours to customize and express yourself with!"

Reality: The dashboard is covered in ads and your motto is censored. You must pay to express yourself with an avatar.

The funny thing is that's not a photoshop except for adding the black bar over my e-mail address. The funnier thing is that's from the Microsoft Passport sight. Disgruntled web team employee?

LOL

and that's shitty of Microsoft to do.

Next thing you know they'll have a problem with my gamertag.
I like your new motto. I was rocking the same one.
You were rocking "Banned."
they wouldn't let me type in "sucks" in my motto last week, or at least "sucks" combined with a certain over hyped msoft game.
They don't even let you type "Halo" in your motto.

ahh, but you are allowed Halo3

That's pretty stupid that they just outright suspend you for 24 hours for this kind of crap. On MMOs with character names they just give you a warning or prompt you to change your nick, and those are displayed more dominantly than a motto...

Bet they will start suspending players with URLs in their motto x_X

I got the 24 hour ban and had to change both my gamertag and my motto:

Tag was IGotSumBigBalls

Motto was: IKillFakeBitches

So I changed my name back to BigPickleMan (Hope it doesnt get banned)
And I changed my motto to: M$OwesMe800Pts

Why wouldn't you just change your tag to something less sexual?
*quickly changes motto to not read "My Other 360 is a Wii"*
When I get a 360, I'm stealing that verbatim.

Cheapy got hosed. Bitches is a bannable word? Please.

Also I would think mottos get way less views than gamertags and think they should consider focusing on questionable gamertags first. Or maybe they should focus on fall update instead.

I'd say something about how Microsoft can suck my fat cock, but if an MSbot came by this page I'd undoubtedly be permabanned from XBL.

From reading your rants on here, I'm surprised you haven't been banned already.

it's a 24-hour ban. GO OUTSIDE
Why wouldn't you just change your tag to something less sexual?
"Everyone knows that sex and the internet go together like peanut butter and jelly, so we weren't shocked to discover this theme running through Xbox Live handles. Some appear purposely designed to impress us; others aim to intrigue us, tease us or simply disgust us.Regardless of intention, they are all obsessed with fornication. But just as with the violent examples, this is undoubtedly nothing more than wishful posing. Common sense dictates that the more you can't have something, the more you want it... and the more likely you are to include it in your Gamertag."

Dr. Frederiksen: "This category might be generally thought of as 'aspirational.' This is who I wish I were. Designed to titillate, tease or boast, there is often a big fantasy component. Freed from the constraints of the real world, you can assume a sexual identity more to your liking."

What Doc Fred's saying is that he doesn't have big balls, and would like to assume the identity whereby he does have them. Or a big pickle, as referenced in the other name.

;)

I think it's because as a child he was raped nightly by his father. At least that's what this psychology handbook is pointing towards.

Sorry to hear that cheapy. Bans without warning are not cool and someone at MS has some 'splaining to do.

Hm, who was that potential guest on the next CAGcast again?

And this is why I don't waste my time on retarded things like Mottos. fuck that shit. What a waste of time and I don't have any sympathy for either party.

Is a 3 word sentence really THAT much of a waste of time?

man, being banned for the word "bitches" is kinda lame. maybe i should post the URL of some porn site and see if their bots can check for those, hehe

So what about all that shit in your sig?
So what about all that shit in your sig?
HAHA, word :applause:
So what about all that shit in your sig?
I have to agree here. No time for 26 characters in a motto, but you've got the time to sting together a lot of sig pics?
You were rocking "Banned."
I changed it on xbox.com, while I was banned.

That "Code of Conduct" shit looked mad corny.
