Anyone pick up this game? is it as bad as the reviews say?

I got my copy in from amazon since they had it for the price mistake of $30, but after reading reviews, it doesn't even seem to be worth that much. On top of the repetitive money milking BS I heard the game is extremely laggy on the 360.

Right now I'm pretty certain i'm just going to return it.

Don't have it yet. Hear they are releasing a patch. Some sites like IGN I think, are postponing their review till after the patch.

Why trust reviews about any Warriors titles? I mean, really, they're "hit" or "miss", depending on your taste, almost 100%. As much fun as I had with the 1st, seeing the new charas, I expect to enjoy this one much, playing with my brother side-by-side.

my brother just picked it up the other day and it looks like a ton of fun (if you like the series) other than the extremely bad slow downs. they are worse than they have ever been, but i have heard they are going to patch it since it is so bad.

I played the game w/ my gf on Saturday. It has some horrible slowdown. You run extremely slow compared to any Warriors game. But if they're going to patch it like InuyashaFan mentioned, then I'd be a different story. $30 is not a bad price though. Hold out a little before you return it? In the meantime, if haven't tried the first WO game you should give it go. That'll tell you if you'd want to keep WO2 or not.

Ehh yeah they're really milking it like always, not that I'm helping that situation by buying every hack and slash they release. But story aside, you're getting new characters, additions to the weapon fusing system and some other stuff. Nothing major, so it's more of a WO1.5.

Just got my Amazon copy today. Pretty fun game, but I'm a fan of the series. I just love beat-em-ups in general.

I will say the slowdown sucks, but the patch should help that. Regardless, don't listen to reviews. If you like Warriors games, then you'll love WO2. If you don't, you'll think it's terrible like many people do.

i've been playing it for a couple of days now. Yeah the lag is horrible, sometimes I leave the densly populated areas just to see if it stops lagging. But anyway, I heard KOEI will be releasing a patch for the 360 version. I also got it for $30, if you're a DW/SW fan you can't go wrong with that. I would hold onto the game, I mean if you've played DW6 you'll know that game wasn't that great. If you've played previous DW games WO2 is similar to them. It's not much different from part one either, there are some minor improvements including more characters and items.

And Sun Wukong is freaken sick, that itself is enough for me to keep the game.

Yeah I would never listen to what the "Professional reviewers" say about a Warriors game, since they pretty much trash them on site (and the Warriors Orochi 2 reviews have been particularly brutal). If you're the fan of the series, you'll probably like WO2 (I picked up the PS2 version myself)

I've always loved the Dynasty Warriors Game (Been playing ever since Dynasty Warriors 2 on the PS2). Right now I am just growing tired of the same game. The only game that keeps my interest are the Empire Games. Those seem to have a little more depth than the other Warrior Games. Will more likely getting Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires. Now I hope they add different things to the next Dynasty Warriors.

Warriors Orochi™2 (for Xbox 360®) Title Update Notice (09.24.08)
Today KOEI announced that the company is preparing a Title Update for Warriors Orochi™2 for Xbox 360®.

KOEI’s top priority is to always deliver outstanding products with the highest levels of quality. However we have determined that under certain conditions unusual slow-down may occur during battle scenes in Warriors Orochi 2 for Xbox 360. Users will be able to download a Title Update through Xbox LIVE. The release date of the Title Update will be announced soon. For the latest information, please visit KOEI.com or the official Warriors Orochi 2 minisite.

This problem only affects the version for Xbox 360 and does not affect the version for PlayStation®2.

We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter, and regret any inconvenience that this may have caused. Thank you for purchasing KOEI products.
I'm enjoying the game, but the slowdown is pretty bad. Confuses me since the first WO game didn't have any. Oh well, hopefully that patch gets here soon.

Ace game. Love the series.

Reviewers to games like this are like critics to martial arts and horror films. You know it's going to get 2 stars, you know the story is going to get bashed, but you don't care. 2 = 4 to us!

Off topic:

Saw this off magic box.

- Koei announced Shin Sangoku Musou 5 Empires [Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires] for PS3, a hack n' slash action + strategy game. More details will be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show.

Assuming we'll see this for the 360 next year. I prefer the Empires versions of the empires games but bought Warriors Orochi 2 knowing the first Orochi didn't have a empires version, and I'm sure the same will go for part 2.

I love Koei and I greatly enjoy the Warriors franchise, so it really does disappoint me that I have to give it a bad review. I have to, though. I simply don't understand how this got the green light in its current condition and I am gravely concerned that something like this is going to be sold to people. Maybe it's fine on the PS2, but the Xbox 360 version is poison for your disc tray.
The way it exists now, Warriors Orochi 2 needs to be avoided.
Score: 2 -- Bad
Aren't there time requirements in the battles? In my experience time constraints + control issues or slowdown = avoid at all costs. I rented DW6 and enjoyed it but I wouldn't dream of touching this game until after the slowdown is confirmed to be fixed.
The time limits are never really a factor since they're so much longer than you'll ever need.
Yeah, I usually find that I finish every battle with 25-30 minutes left on the clock (sometimes more).

Is this game not like DW6 then? In that game if you didn't accomplish certain tasks extremely quickly you couldn't unlock the characters. Playing through the game was easy, but going back through and trying to unlock everything varied from easy to extremely difficult.

getting characters has been pretty easy. Unlike DW6 and WO you had to do special tasks or whatever but here I think you automatically unlock them if you finish the stage. So far I've unlocked about 80/92 characters without any problems. As for items, they no longer have special items for each character. They have something called 'treasure' now which can be obtained by any character. And yes you have to do whatever the description says in order to get them...the description is pretty vague though.

I couldn't believe it. Here I am on the 4th or 5 level and it was like i'm moving in slow motion, no big deal it should go away? Sure did, about 20 minutes later! I played 3/4 of the entire level moving half speed! Even basic play testing should have revealed this, they just didn't give a shit. Outside of that i'm enjoying the game quite a bit but it has some horrid framerate issues from time to time and the camera needed to be scaled back a bit. I'm glad to see review sites aren't waiting for a patch and slamming it down now , if they were crazy enough to release the game in such a sorry shape then it deserves the score it gets.

It plays like a completely different game now, before I wasn't even sure what was so special about speed based characters because hey thanks to slowdown everyone moved at the same speed.

Patch is up? Great news. So now it's better then the PS2 version at the $30 price. Still can't recommend it for $50.

ehh...it's still somewhat laggy but better than a couple of days ago. Co-op is actually possible lol.
