played the kiosk at walmart wasnt really impressed with it. Thought the 360 could do the same exact thing or better even the first generation 360 games. Getting a Wii though :) Come on Sunday

Hell, I can't even play Moto Storm or whatever it was at my local BB. The PS3 was freez and the BB worker couldn't fix it. Way to go Sony!!! btw the Kiosk lcd suck!
Moto Storm had crappy framerate and average graphics.
Yah moto storm did have crappy framerate at some times but the graphics where pretty good in some spots if you ask me. Still I wasn't really that impress with the demo.

Yeah the graphics were pretty good in some spots, but the framerate was pretty rough.

The one at my local best buy had crashed when I got there. When they reset the system, it wouldn't start up again. It was also incredibly warm. Should inspire a lot of confidence in those PS3 campers.

It was also in a small plastic bubble with little to no ventilation

The same thing that caused a lot of the 360 demo units to die. My how quickly all the little fan boys forget something bad when it happens to their consoles.

Well who's fault is that? You'd think that sony, in developing a kiosk to show off their new system, would design some ventilation measures.

Not that sony typically does the logical thing.

We have a ps3 and Wii demo and ummm we played the ps3 for 25 mins and it crashed o_O. We haven;t tried the Wii yet but both of the demo setups are plain...

I played the Motorstorm demo last night. That game was slooowwww. Terrible framerate, sluggish controls, zero sense of speed, etc. It's also the kind of game that NEEDS rumble. When you take a jump and the car lands hard on the other side of a chasm, you expect to feel the controller rumbling like crazy. When nothing happens, you feel kind of cheated.

However, I thought the graphics were quite good. But I'd happily accept lesser visuals for an adequate framerate.

Overall, I thought the demo was surprisingly poor. Hopefully, the full game will be much better since it's one of the few PS3 games I've had my eye on.

Played Madden 07 at a MicroCenter kiosk for maybe 10 minutes. Er, rather waited about 6 minutes for things to load then gave up after the thing bored me.
Then I walked over and played Boxing and Bowling on Wii Sports and was smiling and laughing the whole time. It made me remember what I love about video games. Fun.

my biggest dissapointment was the motorstorm demo. I know what to expect from the launch titles but I was hoping motorstorm would look much better.

If they do implement motion control with motorostorm though it will beat the shit out of excite truck no problem.

There are two kiosks with playable PS3s at the two Targets here in town, and within a week, both have been broken somehow. One wasn't even displaying (the video just showed that triangle symbol for play in the corner) and the other was frozen.

I dunno, I played both and excite truck was more fun because of the speed. No motion control can help a shitty game.

Excite Truck was all about bigass jumps, speed, and destroying shit (when you have a pow), but motorstorm was about racing around in the dirt at 30 mph. It was slow and annoying, I thought it looked pretty good though.

Hell yah dude, the Wii is fun as hell period.

Stores really need to put in a system where they have the video game systems on for an hour or more and then shut it down to rest for 20 minutes. A hassle I know but maybe try doing it at least 2-4 times a day.

This isn't just for the PS3, I'm still seeing frozen 360's (mainly because they only have these to play in the store). The consoles aren't meant for inclosed spaces like these any more it looks like.

Also the MotorStorm demo you download to the PS3 looks great and plays nicely. No framerate problems that I can see so maybe it is a stronger build then what they have in the stores.

Yeah those bubbles don't work to well with systems. Also make sure to check what tv the store is using. I know a couple of my stores had the PS3 and had em hooked up to crappy tv's.

No, wasn't able to get a launch system (Thanks Gamestop). I was , however, able to play it at the local Best Buy. The only playable games were Motorstorm and NBA 07. This was in a relatively new Best Buy (Route 7 near Tysons in VA). The kiosk was located all the way in the far right corner of the store. I practically drooled when I saw noone around. Took me a while to navigate the menus (finally figured out the right controller was the "master controller") I loaded up Motorstorm and completed one race (3 laps I believe). First, the graphics really grab you. Screenshots do no justice, I was playing slackjawed the whole time. The mud splashing up on the screen is a nice touch. The framrate seemed slow, not choppy..just slow. The car felt very "floaty". There were only two views(3rd person and in car-the in car cam is useless once your hood gets bent up). It was a blast riding around that canyon, nonetheless. I only played a half of the NBA game. It was meh. The gamespot review is spot on-players looking like plastic army men-that's all I could think of while playing. Gameplay was ok. Shooting is fairly easy since you see that color coded arc over the player. I was playing the Mavericks against the Heat (the only two teams that were available). I wish they had NBA 2k7 loaded (fat chance since I think NBA 07 is sony's baby). My wife started getting impatient, so I just left it at the halftime screen. As I was walking away, I spied Guitar Hero 2 in the next aisle. Had more fun playing "You Really Got Me" on Medium-man that game rocks!

I played the demo unit today while I was getting my Wii ticket, and MotorStorm was actually pretty fun (not $600 fun, mind you). They had a pretty nice Sony HDTV to go along with it, and it looked crystal clear. Though one thing I really missed was rumble. It was a very noticeable ommision while playing MS.

I was at EB games today and their Xbox360 and Wii were on. The PS3 was shut off. I guess it was locking up. If I remember correctly, the xbox360 has an external power supply. Where the PS3 has an internal power supply? If so, that would explain why it's overheating in that little bubble they put it in. Guess Sony didn't test the PS3s while they were in their demo units
