Why do some states/areas have lower broadband/dsl prices than others. I mean where I live we have
 • Comcast/cable
 • Bellsouth/dsl
 • Knology/cable
 • Earthlink/dsl
 • Hiwaay/dsl
all are at $40-$50 per month. i'm let down everytime i see a $19.95/month dsl deal with a 1 year committment, only to find it NOT available in my area. i've been riding a $19.95/month comcast deal for the past 6 months, but it has since ended. in 6 more months i'll be able to sign back up, but i'd like to get another service. too bad there is no other competition in my area.

maybe in a couple of years someone will realize the need for cheap internet access. bellsouth is in town, but i guess there is no hub for dsl nearby.
I would think this belongs to the Deal Discussion forum. I might be wrong though..
well if there were a deal to discuss i would agree, but if it needs to be moved then so be it.

YOU need competition? We have Comcast here. That's it.

Charter has an office in this town but does not offer service here. How messed up is that?

Time Warner charges my family like 45 a month, but at least it has been fairly consistent, and they keep bumping up our speed.

I do hope for some competition to come around though, because 45 is way too much for internet. I would take a speed hit for a better price.

Nashville has BellSouth DSL. It depends on where you are but it is available.

I have RoadRunner. When it was the only game in town, it was $40 a month. When DSL got big locally, they bumped the speed AND the price ($45). Figure that one out.

I've had it for four or five years now, so I guess I'm used to it.

cheap internet is hard to come buy, i know from living in various places...something should really be done about it...such a crime!

It's outrageous how much companies charge. I have Road Runner, but it's $50 in my area. It's got to the point where I'm thinking switching to SBC Yahoo DSL since they just offered DSL for $19.95 for a year(by ordering it online). Cause it's getting old to get a $96 cable bill every month due to that broadband access.

The $19.99 deal only works if you sign up for one of their calling plans. The commercials are misleading because they dont mention this at all.
