I like Stardock as a company and I like the Impulse platform, but they REALLY need to step up on their deals. Every now and then they'll have something, but not often and Steam usually beats their price (Braid has been $5 twice on Steam, and I don't think it's gone below $10 on Impulse).

And how many times are they going to put Sword of the Stars and the Kalypso catalog up for sale? I feel like I see those games on sale every week.

Unfortunately Stardock does not have the clout that steam does nor the userbase so it will probably be a while till they could offer something like King's Bounty Gold for $11. As much as I try to buy more on impulse, I still end up buying significantly more on steam because of the prices. I am really enjoying the KB series, and would have preferred it on impulse than steam just so I could double click the game and play without having to login to my Steam account. I was a bit ticked off the other night when I couldn't play any steam games cause I had a 20 minute outage on my ISP's side. That is the worst thing about Steam, no games unless you had the clairvoyance to know an outage was going to happen and put it in offline mode.

I had an outage for 4 days and if you start steam up, it takes about 5 mins to say it cannot connect and if you want to start in offline mode. As crappy as that is, at least it does work, eventually.

As much as I'd love to support Stardock for their pro-customer policies, in the end it's all about the Benjamins baby and Steam and D2D just crush them price-wise. However, after the awesome D2D is Five and Steam Holiday sales when D2D and Steam's prices look weak now, Impulse is really out on their own.
