Friends and I are hosting a 30 hour marathon this Friday, July 16th, 8 PM EST till Sunday, July 18th, 2 AM EST to raise money for the wonderful charity Childs Play. This won’t be your typical marathon, where viewers will simply watch endless game playing. We will be holding challenges and other various events throughout the marathon to involve viewers and entice them to donate to a worthy cause. We will have contests to win prizes along with having our players perform a punishment for failing a given task. These task or challenges as we call them, can be something submitted by the viewers (i.e. obtain a given amount of lines in Tetris or beat a game in a time frame).If we accept the challenge, the viewer then donates their money and we begin. If the challenge is failed our player will pull from a hat either a prize or punishment. If a prize tag is pulled, the viewer who submitted the challenge wins a random prize (ranging from video game t-shirts to DLC codes or even games). However, if punishment is pulled the player on our end may take a pie to the face, have nose hairs pulled or be penalized in an upcoming challenge.
Our goals are simple: to have a good time, be the most entertaining group of people on the internet the entire 30 hours and raise money for a charity that does good by bringing smiles to sick children around the United States. As some additional information, there will be over 10 people at the marathon at any given time with game systems ranging from NES, Genesis, Dreamcast to Xbox 360 and PS3 and more. There will be over five televisions being used at any given time all in one large area to make viewing easy and entertaining. Adding in over 1,000 games to the mix we can guarantee that there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
