Last week's bombs in Amman, which killed 57 people, have shown how vulnerable Jordan is to the kind of violence which has become a daily reality in Iraq.

The US newspaper publisher Knight Ridder, which is one of the best sources of information there, reports that one of the suicide bombers involved in the attacks, Safaa Mohammed Ali, seems to have been captured a year ago by US marines in Falluja.

He was then released because he seemed to pose no threat to security.

Ali was captured in the same mosque in Falluja where a cameraman filmed a US marine shooting dead a wounded prisoner.
That, according to Knight Ridder's investigation, increased his hatred of the US.

You know what's so funny about you two silly goats?

If we had put him in jail, sent him somewhere for questioning you'd say we violated the Geneva Convention, were holding suspects in illegal jails, were torturing him and demand his freedom.

You are the biggest cases of liberalism being a mental disorder that have shown up yet. Oh, that's right, you're the only two to post yet. We'll have more displays of mental illness make themselves known soon.

My god, it never ceases to amaze me how truly stupid people on this board are.

You realize that you have just listed two extremes? There is quite a bit of middle ground between secret detention camp with torture chambers and letting him off scot free that does NOT violate the geneva conventions?

If at the time the guy was clean, what else could we do. If I got arrested for something falsely and had a perfectly clean background, then turned around and shot up a school would you say I should've been detained the first time so this would never happen?

But you are white, so it would just be a chance emotional breakdown.

For dark skinned people it is in their DNA to kill people, which is why they should be detained indefinitly for any reason you can find.

At least that is how PAD tells it.

PAD, as has been mentioned, there's a middle ground in there that doesn't involve letting everyone go and doesn't involve torture.

Though it's strange you think I'm the poster boy for liberals.

I have no problem with that and agree there probably wasn't reason to hold him. The point is how we conduct ourselves.

Ok first off to inject a little skepticism of the original article, you can be in the same building as something and never even know that it happened. It never says in that article that he witnessed the shooting all it says is that Knight Ridder's investigation lead to the conclusion that it was the reason his anti-American sentiment grew.

Furthermore, if he hated the US so much then why didn't he at least strike a US target? I understand his target was visited by westerners but if he hated America so much why not strike somewhere that would hurt the US a little more. Not a target that had a majority of islamic people. That's what I've never understood about suicide bombers, there's so many good targets that would send a powerful message if your willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, why not hit them? I mean really, if your making the ultimate sacrifice, you might as well make it worth it.

Good, I'll be my first patient.

If I remember correctly what happened in the event, I believe they were keeping captives in the same room. It was a mosque, the bulk of the area would be the prayer space. So, while not certain, it is very likely.

I also am in no way suggesting we were wrong to release him, it was an attack on the way we have handled Iraq and the war on terror as a whole.

Though the hotel was frequented by westerners (including those working in Iraq) and iraqi officials. Jordan has also been long hated by the extremists for their general support of the u.s., assistance with Iraq and recognition of israel. Basically, I think they would be viewed as an accomplice in the war in Iraq and, looking at their history as a whole, as western and zionist collaborators. I'm not saying it's legitimate (as someone is going to think I agree with it), just that that is probably how it would be justified by them.

Jordan has also been especcially hated by zarqawi.

Yep, there's really no way to know for sure how it exactly went down cause none of us were there. I was just saying that its altogether possible that the reporter went into this investigation looking for some way to tie this guy to an anti-American sentiment and when he found out that the suicide bomber was in the same building as the excecuted prisoner that became the extent of his investigation.

Oh big deal, why don't we kill all Muslims including the women and children? Problem solved.

Besides, what's wrong with ppl with mental disorders?

So sick of reading the same thing over and over and over again in this forum: can't we argue about something else?

No. No! NO! Things are either black or white, right or wrong, my way or the highway, and I, for one, plan on plugging my fingers in my ears and stomping my feet until everyone else accepts this simple fact! ;)

For the WIN! Quote #1. :whistle2:D GO modernboy!

You know what PAD torture is fine! It makes us look like big tough men with large cocks, we're not overcompensating for our lack of masculinity in that area are we? Seriously I swear ya'll bleeps(insert word originally used as a derogatory word for Blacks) are the biggest shittalkers then when someone's like "Motherfucker what's up?!" ready to beat the shit out of you you're like "N...nothing!" COUGHNorthKoreaCOUGH. So take your no dick President with his BS machismo thinking he can dick slap every other country in the face and let's replace him with a leader who doesn't directly correlate just aggression with masculinity or rather doesn't just use masculine methods.
Sorry ya'll be that shit had been boiling over.

No, no, no PAD, you're completely wrong on this one. Alonzo IS a poster child. He has a regular MO for his vs. topics. Let me illustrate:

Step 1. Find an intersting current event that will make a good controversy for the vs. forum and copy it.

Step 2. start a new thread and paste article into vs. forum with link.

Step 3. never make any actual commentary until the thread has had enough replies from liberals and conservatives for Alonzo to make a decision on his opinion. This way, there will be someone to back up his crazy liberal regurgitation and plenty of friends around to attack any conservatives that want to tell him what a quack he is.

Step 4. Reiterate the liberal mantra on the subject that was either posted here by the liberal elite or elsewhere in the liberal media.

Step 5. Deny that you are a liberal and pretend you are a moderate by saying that you always look at both sides of an issue before forming an opinion.

Step. 6 wait for mslut to post some random word generated response and quickly abandon topic so as not to let him be associated with you.

In a conservative's case, replace liberal with "divider" and moderate with "uniter"
Step 5 is every liberal on this board.

Can't you read slut77?
Hey, don't put me in that group. I consider myself more liberal than conservative but there have been instances where I've actually defended the same position as you.

It seems I can generate as much animosity as PAD without resorting to childish attacks and random talking points. Interesting............

Moderates are just fence sitters waiting to join up with whomever has the wind on their side. Only leaders can unite people and moderates are the consummate followers who never have to commit to anything. It's no wonder they are lauded as the ideal politicians.

Interesting point. However, what if the leader turns out to be wrong? Should they still be applauded just because they were a leader?

If it wasn't for moderates then one political party would consistently dominate politics and it would be very difficult to change. Make your party-line arguments all you want but we need moderates.
