Wayne the Brain> YES, YES, OH GOD YES

While I don't necessarily relish the idea of franchise themes, the fact that we get online tetris is enough to make me need new pants.

Nintendo, we get it already. The DS kicks ass, okay? We f*cking get it. Stop it. STOP IT. BAD NINTENDO, BAD. You could release nothing for 2 months and even then I might not be able to keep up.

From the article:

"This new version of Tetris includes six modes based on Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and other Nintendo series, as well as touch screen controls and Wi-Fi multiplayer."

\\:D/

Something about this doesnt sit right with me. Tetris by itself wouldnt sell in the same way Mario Kart can sell by itself. The selling point of this seems to be the online component. And I dissaprove of the online component being the main selling point of a game, rather than a bonus the way it was with Mario Kart.

Then again, I dont like online games.
I love Tetris, but, if this game is $30 then i will pass.
To me alot of these "simple" DS games should NOT be $30.
Are you kidding, Nintendo will make it $35 simply because it's "WFC enabled".

But you're right, I'll only snatch this when it's inevitably $20.

I hope its a great version of tetris though because Tetris Worlds sucked a lot of ass

My Fav version was The New Tetris for the 64

Honestly the best ever tetris for me was the original gameboy version. I really hope they stick with that formula as the basis. Online would definitely be cool as well as the character additions but please keep the gameplay sound. I'll probably bite around $20.

I am getting this game. End of story.

Also, I need need new pants.

alright so I know big N messed up with their wording of things so does this mean I can play people over the internet or does this mean that I can play against people in my general vicinity

2-player or 4-player over the net, up to 10-player in the general vicinity.

While we wait for this game, what is your favorite Tetris game and on what platform?

Me: Tetris DX on the GBC
Why: Color! that and the ability to keep all those stats and multiple users made it a great source for me and my siblings.

I like GB Tetris the best myself.

As for this one, I'll wait for a review to make sure it isn't a debacle like Worlds, then promptly buy it if it isn't

I gotta go with Tetris DX, too. I just about wore out my original GameBoy with the old Tetris... bought Tetris DX for the hell of it, not expectting to get sucked back in, but damn it if it didn't happen again. It was the stats tracking more than anything that did it for me, although the fact that it was in color was pretty rad, too.

Anyway, the screenshots for Tetris DS look great, but I'm holding back my excitement till we hear about the gameplay. Tetris Worlds almost killed my love for this game, and I don't wanna go through that again. All I want is old school Tetris control and a few shots of chilled vodka.

GB Tetris is the best, no questions asked.

I'm way stoked about this, Tetris is the only game I'll still play on a semi-regular basis from that era. And while I agree that slapping Online play on it and charging full price would kinda suck...it's Tetris that I can play on my DS, and the online play DOES intrigue me.

Now, if only Nintendo would hurry up and announce Tetris Attack / Puzzle League / Panel de Pon with online play...

Don't know if it counts, but my vote is for Tetris Attack on the SNES. Unbelievable game (mostly in 2p mode). We played it so much that we actually got to where we would slow the SNES down to the point where it couldn't keep up with gameplay anymore. Made for some classic games.
quick question for those that own Tetris DX:

does this Gb color version save your high scores??????????????????
Yes, scores and total lines if I remember correctly.

I'm not sure how I feel about the blocks passing from one screen to the next. You need a lot of concentration when the speed picks up and I think this would throw me off.
Hopefully the gameplay isn't broken like Tetris Worlds.
how is Tetris World broken???

I wanted t reply something like

"dang yo! I cant wait til someone learns to snake in tetris DS!

then message boards will go up in flames about how they hate those tetris snakers!"

either way, losers gonna be complaining

I just about passed out from sheer excitement. Well, I also lost the ability to breathe for a good ten minutes, but that's besides the point. I also need new pants.
