What are the necessary DS Lite peripherals?

Hello all. I'm thinking I may trade in my old DS for a Lite, but first I was wondering what kind of case and screen protector I'd need. I presume I'd want a hori screen filter, but where do you get them? Do they need to be imported? And also, my case for my DS is a hard metal Intec case, but I worry that it may be too big for the Lite, and it may clank around too much inside. Do you think that that's a valid concern, or am I just being paranoid?

My old DS (which I've only had for 6 months) has already taken a mild beating with scratches and some kind of unexplainable scratching along the left shoulder button. If I trade in for a Lite, I want to take real good care of it. It's too sexy not to.

I already got my compact pouch (no DSL yet though) and I'm happy with it. It doesn't have as much room as the multi-pouch but since you can play your DSL while the system is inside the pouch, I figure it's the best way to protect it from all any damage or the crap from your fingers.

I ordered both things that 2poor did and an Hori extending stylus. I got everything yesterday and I'm damn happy with everything. The quality is SO much better than the Intec or Pelican shit.
 
PDA Panache is sending us a Battle Stylus for the DSLite for review purposes. Once I recieve it, I'll be giving you the lowdown on an upcoming episode of DualScreenRadio. If its anything like the original DS's Battle Stylus, it would go on the recommendation list as well. We shall see!
 
Is the DS Lite and the regular DS screen the same size? Cause i want to know if i can use the regular DS screen protectors to put on the DSL.

Both systems have exactly the same size screens...Regular DS screen protectors will work fine.

You can get the Pelican ones at Best Buy or at Gamestop where they are bundled with the "Write and Protect Pak".

Gamestop has the better deal however since they are a dollar less AND you get a spare stylus.

Are Pelican any good or is better buy any imported ones? Sorry for the silly question but I'm buying my first DS tomorrow at the DS Lite release... :)

That looks like the one Womp got http://www.shanesdomain.com/forums/showpost.php?p=56930&postcount=10, but he doesn't say what it is, just that he got it on eBay.

I had the Hori pouch for my original DS and while I can "cinch" the strap to confine my Lite I ordered a new one from Play-Asia, although I think its for the original DS I plan on trying to fit it to the Lite. These newer DSLite Pelicans are better than the older DS ones (Those had residue) as these seem to be more clear and have NO residue although they are slightly darker than the Hori's.

Another problem besides the dimness is they are a TIGHT fit on the DSLite screen and you need to be exceptionally accurate when laying it down. I recommend doing a millimeter or 2 snip off one vertical end of it before applying.

One thing I am not fond of is the fact the touch screen DOWN side of these Pelicans has no peel away plastic which the Hori's DO have. Its a drag because as soon as you remove them from the box they are charged and will immediately draw in dust before you even get them applied.

In any case, I'd go for these in the short term UNTIL you can track down the Hori's.

That is the case I just bought off EBay as Edison was kind enough to point out, however it has not arrived yet and when it does I will be sure to let you know how it is...It looks good...Small, functional and very much like the Gamestop DS case I have been using up till now with my old DS.

Otherwise I've seen them at Play-Asia although EBay was cheaper. :bouncy:

The Hori was my original choice, it looks great...But not enough pouches for me. I also prefer a "Harder" outside shell. Plus I need room for my Supercard. :cool:
