What are the RARE XBOX games?
Picked up Obscure for Gamestop tonight. Seems decent, but the best part is peeking up a blondes skirt to see her white thong ;-)
Whaaa? Man, you guys play some wierd games :D

Sorry, I've just been in kid mode with the Mario stuff (now into Jak with my son so at least that's a *bit* more mature). I am going to get around to playing Shadow Hearts (not with my son) soon which would be my first M-rated title.

I forgot about Frogger Beyond, yeah, that's definately pretty rare. What about Metal Slug 3? Not really rare, more uncommon than anything but it's never going to drop in price.

FYI, Guy Game wasn't recalled, they just stopped making new copies due to a court order.. so once they're out of stores, unless someone trades it in, it's gone.

Obscure can be found at any chain, pretty much, and while I'm not sure about how rare it might be, I do know it looks like it sucks, so I don't see demand for it spiking up any time soon.

MvC2 is probably the most rare & in demand game for the xbox that I know of.
Steel Battalian also a definate uncommon game in the long run, but more for the controller's price point and smaller production count, it's still buyable new if you search around in stores.

crouching tiger, hidden dragon and frogger beyond are uncommon? that's news to me, I've seen a fair amount of them here, not a lot, but a fair amount.

~The Guy Game wasn't "recalled" but when the lawsuit began it had to be shelved and not sold or taken in as a trade in, so for awhile it was rare, but now that it's over it's been restocked and it's not rare anymore =P

My guess for what the more rare games will wind up being? Any thing that's a kid's game and doesn't royally suck. Seriously. Sure there are a lot of Sonic Heros and non-platinum hits Finding nemo out there now...but not only are kid-friendly games more rare in general on the system, but kid's games tend to get messed up more frequently and probably have less of a chance of surviving to be mint/new condition years down the road.

No, it can't. EB and Gamestop have it, but GameCrazy, Rhino, Hastings, and other retailers don't have it in their PC at all, as coming soon, new release, or anything. I let the manager at GameCrazy scan it and it said that the barcode was not in the database.

They don't make new copies of it anymore.

What exactly is the deal with this game (yes, I know I could probably look it up on the web somewhere but I thought maybe one of you could give a quick summary)? I know that EBAY kills all the auctions for it as soon as they find out, but sometimes a few sneak through to completion with quick Buy It Now bids. You can only find a few under completed auctions now - and with prices at or below retail value.

My understanding was that it was an issue of an underage girl showing a bit too much? If that is the case and ebay needs to pull the auctions, why wasn't it recalled entirely? Obviously Fry's and all the other stores I've seen it at have no problem with selling it. Seems like a strange mix of standards/rules/whatever being enforced on it...

And, to bring it back around to the topic of this thread, I wonder what all this does to the value? I think I'll stay clear of this one for sure, but it will be interesting to see what it fetches 5 years from now, if anything...

well the way I understand it is that it wasn't recalled because the lawsuit was settled. (i.e. they paid in other ways). It's not illegal to sell it anymore, but it was for a time. I don't think they're making any more of it, however, during all that time when it was being held in store's backrooms, there were still company warehouses with a ton of them. Hense the still being able to find one and being restocked thing. (I said restocked not reprinted, didn't I? it's late, but I think I meant what I meant anyway...if that made sense).

Huh, I thought it was just that only the EBs and GSs were getting any substantial amounts in (and by substantial I guess I mean *All*, heh). That could be an interesting one value wise then. Similar to RE4 tin at GSs only.

...although...if the game still sucks it might not matter who does or doesn't sell it  anyone heard anything about whether it's good or not? the cover art's rockin, but I hadn't heard much about gameplay.
HAH! Thanks for telling me F1 was rare. I went and saw it mint and complete for $17.99 at GameCrazy (MVP price, $19.99 normal).. that brings up my XBox Rarities collection to Fatal Frame, Fatal Frame 2, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Moto GP2, Obscure (rare yet?), and F1 2001. All I need now is the Guy Game!

Nice pickup. F1 is the only uncommon Xbox game I still need to pick up. I'm definitely buying it the next time I see it.

Thanks to this thread, I picked up an Xbox F1 2001 for $14.95 at a local store.. It says "new" but it's been re-sealed, and the xbox sticker seal is gone. Still a decent price.

I'm just happy about the $7.95 Time Crisis 3 I found.. no gun, but still a good price.

I saw one copy of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon today while browsing for some Xbox games at Best Buy. There was only one copy on that Xbox rack, and the tag had it priced at $39.99. Its the first time I ever saw that game too.
roller coaster tycoon i think is rare, i've seen it twice one in a pawn show and one in a gamecrazy but no where else
Yeah you might be right, I just looked it up on ebay and there are NONE on there right now, with only 2 used copies in Completed Auctions, both fetching over $20. I bet a sealed copy could get significantly more. On a similar theme, Jurassic Park : Operation Genesis started getting crazy prices a while back, but I guess it must have gotten a reprint because I've seen it in several stores, and prices are now under $20.
And do keep an eye on Futurama...sealed copies are currently going for $30 on the 'bay.
