I am eyeing the deadwood season 2. that is really the only thing that i would want, maybe some of the homicide life in the streets seasons.

I remember last time they ran this sale, they jacked the prices up on a lot of the box sets so i didnt buy anything. The DDD 20% sale really only makes sense for the higher priced items that never seem to go on sale(like the boxsets). It is too easy to buy used dvds for next to nothing either at pawnshops or off of ebay

I'm personally done with DDD. I have placed about 10 orders with them in since the start of this year. 3 times I have called Customer service to cancel an order or modify it in some way. I could have placed the order 30 mins ago, and they will tell me thats its being shipped and just refuse the shipment. So I have to wait and catch the post person tell them to keep carrying around the box cause some company is to lazy to call the warehouse and tell them not to box an order.

I am seriously thinking about passing on the next sale.

1. I've been trying to spend less on entertainment since buying a house.
2. I have a pretty substantial backlog of dvds to watch.
3. I need to save money for gaming systems (I still don't have a 360, I want to get a DS Lite, and I want a Wii as close to launch as I can get).
4. We are getting closer and closer to HD media being a widespread reality. I don't know which HD format will win, but it seems a little pointless to continue building a library of lower quality media, when many titles will no doubt be re-released in an HD format.

Deadwood season 2 is a definate along with both seasons of Carniavale. Im thinking on top of that all of the Ghost in the Shell SAC special editions for both seasons. outside of that i cant think of anything but im sure i will by htat point

I'm in the same boat, but I'll still probably at least get something cheap since it only comes around twice a year. Probably the zelda series and mario super show if they dont raise the prices and cancel the sale.

This'll probably be my biggest buy ever at the DDD sale. I've been saving about $100/week for a couple of weeks now. So I'll probably be spending around $500.

My biggest purchases are going to be:
- Star Trek: TNG - Seasons 1-7
- Cheers Season 4-5
and - The Unsolved Mysteries Box Set!

My def is the Mel Brooks Box set, then prob Home Movies Vol 4, Batman Beyond S1, and Batman Vol 4, and prob some odds and ends, want to keep the bill a little lower this year
gonna finish up my Farscape collection(whats out so far at least), and Hercules($15 a set!)
Farscape wasnt included in the sale last time

If I have the money I'll pick up Star Trek DS9 seasons 1-7.
Other then that I want to pick up some of the X-Files seasons I don't have, Quantum Leap seasons, a few Farscape Starburst editions, and a few movies.
The sale is for every item they sell.

Actually, I think sman is right. I think ADV releases the Farscape sets. ADV items were not included in the last sale.
The sale is for every item they sell.
True, but last year at Fall's sale they removed all/most ADV titles as they were not willing to participate in the sale cause they were in financial troubles and other shit.

My question is rather, has the 20% of sale been confirmed as a reality this year?

There's a shitload of anime I need to get... haven't hammered out exactly what I'm getting yet, but I'm definitely picking up Rahxephon, Patlabor movies, the next vol. of Fullmetal Alchemist (assuming it's out in time), and a number of others.

I am thinking about picking up the Firefly series. I saw the movie Serenity recently and enjoyed it very much so. I was wondering whether or not the original series was similar in quality. The reason I ask is because I have noticed how unsucessful the show actually was on TV. Thanks guys.

I'm also considering the following box sets:
Smallville
Lost
X-Men Evolution

I actually enjoyed the Firefly show much better than the movie. Probably because they have more time to develop the characters. I never caught it when it was on FOX, but supposedly it did poorly because they aired it out of order. Possibly in different timeslots as well, but I can't remember. I'm a big fan of Smallville as well. The pilot is amazing, but then theres about 7 or so shaky episodes afterwards. If you can get by that, you'll probably be hooked.
Farscape wasnt included in the sale last time
I got what Farscape i own from the last sale.
Had to phone in my order and it went thru.

Mostly anime for me, I need the new Case Closed, 8 volumes of Fullmetal Alchemist, as much of Ghost in the Shell as I can get, Paranoia Agent and definately Venture Brothers Season One.

I was thinking about the Farscape Starburts last DDD Sale but didn't know anything about them compared to the other Farscape sets so I didn't get any. I've only caught a couple of episodes but want to get the first couple seasons to get into it. Are the Starburts the best? Why? There are 10 listed on DDD now, are those seasons 1-10?

Reason 1. Cheaper
Reason 2. More Extras

They release 3 per season, so set 10 is season 4 part 1 of 3.

Firefly; simply an amazing series that never was given its due. Best sci-fi television show to come out since probably Star Trek: TNG or Sliders. now mind you there have been other respectable sci-fi shows, but nothing that I believe could have been up there in this echelon of sci fi shows. It was a more character driven show with excellent plot development that probably would have differed from the usual monster/planet/etc. of the week plot cliche that most sci-fi shows fall into. The closest thing in the past couple of years I can say is at all close to a Star Trek, etc. would have to be Battlestar Galactica, which I picked up from the last sale.

Lost is also an excellent show.

I first want to know if the DDD sale is confirmed at all. Rumors have been raging that it will happen, but who knows really. They aren't obigated to do one, yet.

I still have a lsit of stuff that I didn't get from the last sale that I want. And since then my list has grown and shrunk and recently picked up speed and grown again. For instance I just put up Venture Bros (how can you not) and am thinking about a bunch of anime/farscape seasons 3-4

Pookymeister is right- the Starburst sets are meant to be a cheaper alternative to the very expensive full season sets that ADV originally released of the show, and they do have more extras than the original sets. Also, they take up less space, which may or may not be important to you.

One thing to be aware of, though- lots of people have experienced minor problems with digital breakup, skipping, or lockups with the first two seasons on the Starburst sets. This is because of the discs being double-sided, dual layered DVDs. They changed the kind of discs the sets were released on starting with Starburst 7 (the first disc for Season 3) and I believe that solved the problem. I had the problem with two or three episodes from my Season 2 Starburst sets, some digital breakup and the episode just locking up completely at certain points. Extremely frustrating when it happens.

My wants for the next DDD sale are:

Farscape Starburst (7-9)
Scrubs 3
NewsRadio 3
Angel 3-5
Robot Chicken
Monk 3-4
Rescue Me 1
Serenity

Probably won't get all of that, but hopefully most of it.

I plan on picking up:

Thundercats S2V1
He-Man S1V2 and S2V1
Transformers: Beast Machines

Some others, too, but my list is at home.

I already have my budget for this planned and a complete list... Here's what I'm getting...

Cemetary Man
Color of Money
Chip & Dale Volume 1
Godzilla Double Pack
Dog Soldiers
Garfield Volume 5
Il Bidone (The Swindelrs)
Knight Hunters Season 2 Boxset
Dracula Legacy Collection
Naked Fame
Pokemon Advance Challenge Volumes 2 , 3, 4
Dumb & Dumber unrated
Elfago Boca & Swmp Fox
Super Mario Super SHow VOlume 1
Sabrina The teenage Witch: The Movie (really want season sets)

I'll probably just get the season 2 and 3 economy boxsets of Rurouni Kenshin and maybe seasons 5 and 7 of the Simpsons.

I plan on getting the complete SE Star Trek Movie Set.

Then depending on how much I've got to spend I'll get some of the following.

Samurai Jack Season 2
Roughnecks series
Hercules Seasons 2-6

My "must get" list is looking like:

- Batman Beyond season 1
- Wrestlemania 22
- Moonlighting 3rd Season
- TMNT V.03 (early 90's series)
- TMNT V.04 (early 90's series)
- Trigun 1 (LE)
- Trigun 2 (LE)
- FullMetal Alchemist 3rd starter set, if it's available on time (looks like it will be released the week AFTER the sale, unfortunately)
- Possibly the Star Trek Motion Picture collection, which has dropped significantly since the last sale (glad I held off!). At the current price of $83.97, it's just $67.18 when the sale hits (or $6.72 per movie). The only reason I'm hesitating is because my family owns the movies already, so I might just wait and save the money.

After that I've got a pretty sizeable "maybe pile." Stuff that is likely to go on sale somewhere else for a better price (Simpsons, South Park, etc.), or stuff that someone else in my family already has and I'm just looking for my own extra copy (like Star Trek).

I am also in dire need of more storage space, so I'll probably buy some DVD racks (yes, they are included in the sale - free shipping and all).
I plan on getting the complete SE Star Trek Movie Set.

Should have got them a few weeks ago when they were B2G1 Free
Id like to get a complete bezerk set, and Brazil criterion... ive wanted that for years.
Brazil Criterion is cheap now at Amazon with free ship. Cheaper than even DDD with 20% off.

B000A6T262.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

It sould be around $70 after the 20% off.

The only things that I am getting for sure is:

Lone Wolf and Cub boxset (need to replace my boot vhs copies)
Angel Guts boxset
Guinea Pig Collection (been meaning to pick this up)
Men With the Scissors
Requime of Darkness collection
I

Garfield Volume 5
I'm so pissed, they lowered the Garfield prices to like 5 dollars cheaper than what the sale prices were.

Lost Season 1
Band of Brothers
Aqua Teen Hunger Force Seasons 3 and 4
Sealab 2021 Seasons 1, 2 ,3
South Park seasons 2 and 3
House Season 1
24 seasons 1 and 2

that is all i can think of right now

well now that i know all of the garfield and friends sets have been released, i may just splurge and pick up the entire series run.

Nothing. I want to buy a lot of stuff but DVDs are such a waste of money, IMO. How often do you really watch them? I have crap still shrinkwrapped that I just don't have the time to watch (Seinfeld S1, S2 and S3; Simpsons S7; Old School; Austin Powers; Firefly; Futurama, etc.). I want to watch them but I just can't seem to find the time...

That's how I'm feeling about videogames now...

ditto, i dont ever play games anymore, and most of the dvds i just watch the ones i check out at libraries, but they dont have many season sets at all.

I used to have that problem. My solution has been a portable DVD player and lunch time. I can watch 2-3 episodes of most sitcom/cartoons, and 1 or 2 dramas. It's a good way to enjoy lunch. I am currently watching Space: Above and Beyond, mixed in with South Park.

As far as the DDD sale, I hope they leave the Planet of the Apes Ultimate pack. If so, I'll grab that along with Forever Knight Trilogy, which appears to be two sets.

When is Home Movies v. 4 coming out?
