What atrocities did you commit before coming to CAG?

-bought Tony Hawk 3 for 50 bucks
-bought Star Fox Adventures for 50 bucks ON RELEASE DATE
-bought Star Wars Bounty Hunter for 50 bucks

It was sad back then.

I bought as many as seven Dreamcast games for full price. To be fair, three were around launch, when I was just visiting the states, so I couldn't really wait for deals; I made up for it by getting another 230 or so Dreamcast games for an average of around $15.

I'm still missing 8, though.

I bought Tetris Worlds for gamecube for full price (along with Eternal Darkness) from Ebgames.com

I think the retail price was $39.99? I don't remember. but I didn't wait for the review because I assumed that you can't go wrong with tetris. boy was I wrong.

Which 8?

I paid retail for almost everygame I bought... and I downloaded a lot of psx games =( But I've since gone back and bought most of them for $5-15

I paid >$60 for Strider and Sword of Vermilion for the Genesis when they were first reeleased, neither of which were remotely worth that (especially considering I was in eighth grade or so at the time). Compounding that misery, I do believe I arranged a drive to nearby "big city" Fargo, ND, for the sake of getting at least Strider on its release date, which was almost an hour each way.

Before joining CAG, I did all of the following:

1) paid full-price for games at Target, without the use of rain checks subs

2) paid full-price for games at Best Buy, without the use of GGC

3) kept cancelling and renewing my subscriptions to Gamefly...

None, really. I was broke and got most of my games when they were on sale, and the ones that weren't on sale were used.

Of course, I was even more broke back then than I am now...

Robotech Battlecry Collector's Edition. $80 on launch day. Then, a few months later, I got a second sealed copy of the very same Robotech Battlecry Collector's Edition, from EBgames.com, for $5. Bleh.

Oh, and F-Zero GX for $50 on release day.

I won't deny, though, that I still pay full price for games, quite often, on really "special" games. I'm not an exclusive Cheapass. Honestly, though, can anyone be expected to wait for, say, Zelda: Twilight Princess to drop?

I thought $30 was a good sale price.

Then I thought $20 was a good sale price.

Then I thought $10 was a good sale price (Now I know $2 is a good sale price).

I waited for midnight/advance shipments on full price games.

I pre-ordered games (for full price of course).

I valued my own opinion instead of relying on my fellow CAGers ;)

But the one that really pisses me off (I was young, what did I know?):

I sold my entire 100+ NES / Genesis game collection when I was 12.

It wasnt games that I bought that were expensive...it was DVDs. I didnt know about Deep Discount DVDs until I joined this site.

People like you are the reason I've got the Genesis and NES collections I do now. ;)

Your loss is the gain of someone else, if nothing else...

Come to think of it, there were two other games I bought for full price: sonic adventure 2 and shenmue, but because I needed to get them signed by Yuji Naka and Yu Suzuki respectively. That's allowed, right?

When I was 12 I traded in a complete copy of FF III (VI) to Funco for credit that I spent on Ken Griffey Baseball. Still a little sore about that one, but at least I managed to find a cheap cart a few years later to replace it.

Umm, I spent $75 for Final Fantasy VI back in 1994 on release day? And don't feel bad about it?

Oh wait, wait, I know! I spent $40 on Breath of Fire III on release date! EWW!! Total waste of money for me right there. Oh and I bought Saga Frontier for $40 on release day, UGH! Luckily for me that was back in the day when one could return opened new games.
And finally there was paying full price for Final Fantasy VIII. Ugh. I got a buddy who loves that game, but I cannot for the life of me see why. Right when I start to see it's virtues I remember how horrible the battle load times were.

Otherwise I've really always been a cheapass. And when I haven't been, I don't regret it at all.

However I will say that Cheapassgamer has helped me immensely in deals since I joined it. Overall it's allowed me to get my hands on games for cheaper prices that I'd otherwise have to wait months more before their prices came down.
I paid $60.00 for Superman64 the first day it came out, at Funco Land.
I think we have a winner!

Anyway, I purchased the following games for full price:
Disgaea (Awesome game)
Devil May Cry (Got another new copy at TRU recently for $6!)
Tony Hawk 3 (Okay game)
Mega Man Legends (Good game)
Countless NES, SNES and Genesis games (most of which I don't own anymore, not like that's a bad thing. ;) )
And many more that I can't remember.

I made the same mistake with bounty hunter.

Oh the shame! I bought sooooo many NES and SNES games back in the day at full price. Believe it or not I can remember paying $50 for an NES game and now I buy them by the box load for less then half that

Full price on Pikmin at launch. Along with Mechassault, Resident Evil 0 and 1 full price. Old school days on N64 and PS1 are too many to count.
I know I should be slapped for this but...I paid $50 for Enter The Matrix on launch.
So did I. #-o

I'm so ashamed...

None, I did pay full price for some games back in the NES and SNES days (although when Kiddie City went out of business in 1991, I picked up some cheap games) but since around 1999, I have been trying to buy games as cheap as possible (even when N64 was launched I shopped around for the best price on games but never tried to get games for under $20 like I did a few years later).

back then Strider was worth $60 easily! at least, imo. But I'm a big fan and still play it today.

my big atrocity-- the 32x and various full priced games.
I spent $350 on a Saturn.
That was ten years ago though, so cut me some slack.
Me, too (well, my parents paid for it). Had a ghetto-ass TV in my room without inputs, so I always had to play the Saturn in my parents' bedroom. Then, the ghetto TV blew up, and I had to get a new one (with inputs and stereo sound, thankfully). So, it cost me about $550 to play Saturn ($299 for the Saturn, $50 for Virtua Fighter 2, and $199 for a TV).

Honestly, I can't remember. It's been so long. I know I bought several games at full price, albeit at launch. I don't think there's ever been anything wrong with that.. most of them were well worth it.

Oh...the memories are too painful...paying full price for games that dropped within a few weeks. Glad that all stopped two years ago. Thanks again, CheapyD!!!

I always waited for a game to come down to the $20 price point (the only exceptions were Tekken 3 and Final Fantasy Tactics which I bought for $39.99 when I first got my original Playstation). My game collection however was much, much smaller pre-CAG.

This happened already while I was part of CAG but, *sigh* I paid full price for the limited edition of Halo 2 (and I was the 2nd in line during release day). *runs away in shame*
