This is what I received from Gamestop.com. It says DVD on it.

This was in the same case. It also says DVD on it.

They both say NTSC.

Looks like a PC game. Hmm. Have you tried putting them in your computer? Very odd.

What's the color on the bottom of the disc? I only ask because it is fully printed to the hub. I see that many times on bootlegs/burnt games/movies.

I might be wrong, but I think every PS2 disc printed in the US has the "Playstation" logo on it, like on the first image. I just checked five or so of my PS2 discs, and they all had the logo.

They also don't say "Playstation 2" anywhere on the ones you have, like all other PS2 discs.

Gamestop sent you some bootlegs.

2 PC's and they aren't even recognizing that anything is in the drive. Im not sure if these computers have DVD-Rom drives though. I literally know nothing about computers.

It's not out of the ordinary that they would send you a bootleg.

Most of the games they sell on Gamestop.com are games sent back to the warehouse from stores. Employees normally don't recognize what a bootleg looks like and take them in and resell, but when they resell it and the person who buys it says it doesn't work in their system, what they do is send it to the warehouse to get "fixed", which is just a bunch of malarky because they just resurface it and not actually test it out and resell on Gamestop.com.

On a side note, I just got a couple of bootleg GBA games in the mail earlier from GS.com, so like I said, it's really not out of the ordinary.

Just return them to any Gamestop store, instead of doing it online, that is if u have a Gamestop close by.

I can understand when they take in some of the bootlegs we have seen for the GBA and DS. Even if there are significant differences, you often have to be looking for them to recognize them. In this case, these discs clearly are not legit. If you've worked at GS for any length of time or even been involved in the gaming community, you should know that.

Well the newer GBA bootlegs have actually gotten better and it's harder to tell unless you actually look at the circuit board for the logo, which is what I had to do with the carts I got today. And DS bootlegs have been getting better as well recently.

But to be honest, most employees just check if there is even a game in the box and check if there are any major scratches when they take the games in.

Just because they should know, doesn't mean they always do unfortunately.

Most of the employees that work at Gamestop never even owned a PS2 and have no idea what the games are supposed to look like since they just take the games in, they don't play them. If it was a PS3 or a 360 game that looked like that, they would have had a better chance recognizing those since they see it more often, but as it stands, most employees don't have enough exposure to older gen games, which is why they struggle to tell them apart.

I know almost all the employees that work in this area, and I can say that 50% can't tell the difference that if it's a bootleg or not because they don't process that PS2 games will be marked as PS2 games on the bottom of the disc. They really look at suspicious traders, rather than checking discs from every trade in, which is probably what they should do, but they don't :*(

I wish they were more attentive and are able to recognize these things more often, but most employees don't know better or can care less about it.

At least you can return them to the store. And I bet if you just return it and say you didn't like it, they will not even second guess what's wrong with it and put it back on the floor to sell.

Another thing you could point out if they give you any trouble returning these is that all Playstation games should have a SLUS number under the NTSC and Playstation logo.

I ordered Pokemon Platinum from Amazon....

along with a shiny new cobalt/black NDS Lite. I would have waited for the XL's price to drop in a couple of days but it's not backwards compatible with GBA games. The DS Lite will do until the 3DS is released (I'm assuming) next year.

I'm not sure how this is relevant to the thread? lol.
So uh, what happens when you stick it in your PS2?
That's what sh--

Oh, nevermind.

Could it be a game from another country, seriously though its probably a bootleg, but it could be from a different region. This is something to look into when you get a suspect game from GS because I found a legit UK version of a GBA game in one of my local Gamestops. I don't know how it got up here but an unusual find can occur. I have also seen some Megadrive games back when EB was still taking in classic games.
