What did you think of the "real" PS3 baby doll commercial during the World Series?

I think it was better than "The Wait", but I don't really get it. At least it showed the product, though...

I called it the "real" commercial because it actually appeared on TV, unlike "The Wait" which I only saw on the Internet.

Did you see it? I guess I should have said more about it in my post, but I did in the poll question. It had a baby doll that came to life and then had tears in its eyes. I am not sure if they were tears of joy for the new system, or tears of agaony because he can't play it (because it is too expensive for his parents?).

Very cool I liked it, not enough to buy one though. I hope the PS3 is a huge success because competition is a good thing.

Jesus H Christ. I just shit my pants. Apparently the PS3 will rape you in your sleep. That really needs to be one of the poll options.

You ever have like a picture of Jesus or something at your Grandma's house and its hanging in the guest room and youre like, 'oh crap' when you find out you have to sleep in there? All night you're too scared to look at it. Well, the PS3 in those commercials is that. I pre-ordered mine and I feel like it is just going to be there, watching what I'm doing. You know, out with the buddies, you come stumbling home and its just standing there, right by the door.

You ever have sex in your dead grandmother's house in her bed? I have and this still creeps me out more then reflecting on that.

Wow that was freaky. I'm not sure what to think of it, but I guess it's okay since Halloween is right around the corner. What I really want to know that the advertising people were high on when they came up what.

Never. NEVER.

Well, twice.

Acid.

Lots of Acid.

WTF was that? Am I supposed to be scared into buying a PS3 or something?

It's like they watched Trainspotting and decided to replicate the most uncomfortable part in the entire movie.

I didn't think Sony advertising could get any worse after the PSP dust balls, but I was horribly horribly wrong.

Good, I wasn't the only one who thought that was just a bit creepy...

Whoever does commercials for Sony should be fired. First the stupid as shit PSP ads (with the squirrels and dust bunnies, etc.), then the nonsensical "Wait" commercial, and now this freaky possessed doll deal.

I just figured out.

They are going for the "creepy possessed object" eBay crowd!

...

eBay!

PS3 initial shipments!

GENIUS!

I think this commericial is good in the fact that it catches attention. If it was just another Gaming Console commericial people would ignore it and go get some more cheesy doodles. But when they see a creepy doll sitting in a white room crying, I think they'll stop and look and go "What the fu...?"

And then when they go to the store and see a 360 and PS3 side by side, they'll instantly assume, "Oh, I want to get the PS3. It makes babies cry."

BING-BANG SOLD!
Wtf?!

Why Can't We Ever Get A Comercial That Features Actual Gameplay???
Because backpack kids, balloon fights, dolls, jump roping, etc are what really sells a console.

wow, not only was that commercial really creepy, it was idiotic, pointless and doesnt say a damn thing about the console. looks like they hired a bunch of people who make car commercials and gave them a ps3 and said "here" and thats what they came up with.

It was definitely creepy; but heck any commercial that has the Playstation 3 in it, is going to be good. even the ///7 sign looked like something from resistance..

That's what it reminded me of too. I still think it was better than the 360 commercials. 3 minutes of people throwing water balloons at eachother then a quick flash of the xbox 360 logo at the end? Stupid.

I can't stand when shit like this comes out thats trying to be so "clever" and "out there crazy" and it's supposed to make me want to buy something. How about show me the fucking product.

Can Sony make a commerical that isn't outragously dumb and lame? Have any of their commericals recently have shown just the game and not some other crazy shit?

people just don't advertise like that a whole lot anymore. These teaser commercials have proven to be a lot more effective at building hype. Then, after launch, they start showing screens and all that.

(though I haven't seen a 360 commercial with actual gameplay yet. the closest they came was showing game boxes and saying "we have X amount of games on our system")
It was kind of funny in that creepy way that makes the King so great.
The king is funny, backwards crying babies make baby jesus cry.

I read some posts on 1up and the commercial is suppose to be a scene from Space Odyssey 2001.

I've never seen the movie so I don't know what the significance of the commercial.
