so i bought a dreamcast at my local mall in the downstairs area (i have two ebs). the dreamcast was kinda shitty so i went to the second floor and ask the girl if she had any dreamcast she said she did but that it was on hold for an employee. what the fuck is that shit. when do employees get first dibs on this shit. fine so i ask her if she can call any other stores to see if they can ship it to this store and she said ok. she found a store in fairfield with a mint complete dc so i asked her to ship it over and she said ok. she then took down my info and said it should take two-three days. this was done on friday so i called monday and this is the convo we had

me: hey did you guys get a dreamcast in for dan
manager: uh no we haven't had any in the longest time
me:eek:h cause i asked the lady there to ship one out from the fairfield store
manager:uh well we don't do that here
me: uh well yea you do cause she just did it for me on friday
manager:well i'm the manager and i'm telling you we don't do that
me: so why did your employee order me a dc if you guys can't obviously you can
manager: well maybe she might have asked the guy from the fairfield store to drop it by
(same shit sending dropping it by it's all the same fuckin thing)
me: well when should i be getting it
manger: i will talk to the girl and she will contact you

still no response and i really want to pick up that dc

um, you should go back with a machine gun and shoot up the place while screaming "I love GTA" at the top of your lungs.... or you should do nothing and accept the fact that $5.50/hour employees don't give a shit about you or their jobs and that sometimes (read: most of the time) we can't always get what we want.

just be glad you didnt get a blood stain system like i did.

like i'm upset about the dc but i'm more upset at the fact that these stupid retards don't actually think about what they say before they say it

Sounds like your mint/complete Dreamcast was probably bought by another employee. Find out who the manager you talked to was, key his car like was already suggested, and then call the EB higher ups and try to get him fired.

unless you speak with the person you spoke with in the first place, it's unfair to call the employees stupid retards. it's clearly a miscommunication. you should be thankful she went out of her way to call the other store and ask about them getting that DC to you.

let's remember, you bought a DC, you thought it was shitty, and so you're asking them to go out of their way to find an antiquated piece of hardware ala 1999.

Well that's just juvenile.

Easy solution, contact the DM.

Otherwise, suck it up. You don't need a dreamcast anyway. *jedi hand wave*

just called the store again this is what happened

me:did you guys get the dc i order in?
girl:eek:h nope sorry your the guy that ordered it from me right?
me:yea i actually spoke to a manager yesterday and he told me you guys don't do store tranfers
girl:thats not true whoever you talked to was lying
me: i also asked if he had my info that was posted on the sn in front of him and he said no he didnt see anything
girl: nope it's still here (read info) right in front me call back in tomorrow i'm going to call the fairfield store and talk to that guy
me:eek:k thanks

oh and to answer the "since when do employees get first dibs" question:

always.

because we work there, and we have to put up with certain customer's bullshit.

oh i'm sorry let me correct myself on that

i was referring to all the shitty employees i have encountered

she def is not one of them i TOTALLY agree with you that she went out of her way for me. it's not her fault at all shes so nice

You'd be surprised at the lack of communication between managers and employees at these stores, not to mention the incompetence of certain managers. I was a victim to the follies of no less than 2 the time I worked at gamestop. The first one was fired for stealing from the company, and the 2nd was fired for incompetence and leaving certain employees(me) to do his job while he smoked weed in his car.

i'm more mad at the manager for acting stupid. and the why would you even sell games if your just going to have first dibs on everything that comes in. it kills your customers because we won't feel like driving all the way out there to find out that it's on hold for an employee show me where this is in the poilcy and i'll shut up

Who needs reruns of "My So-Called Life" when I can come here and read threads like this?

I can almost hear Blink-182 playing in the background.

If you do call the DM or corporate about the manager and his lack of communication, lack of informing employees of process, etc, you may also want to say a good word for the girl who's helped you [assuming she's not doing something she's not supposed to do.] I definitely complain where warranted, but if someone goes above and beyond, like it sounds like she is doing, I thank the person and let their bosses/management know I was pleased.
Oh, and the thing about
" $5.50/hour employees don't give a shit about you or their jobs '

That's true. My advice to them: f'ing QUIT. If you have a job, if you're taking a company's money, you should DO YOUR JOB the best way you can. My first job in high school was flipping burgers at Hardee's for 3 bucks an hour. Did I like it? Not especially. Do I want to do it again? Nope. But I did the best I could at that job, knowing two things: doing good at this job would help me in all future jobs, and that if you're going to do something, you should try to do it right and the best way you can. A little thing called 'pride' and 'caring about what you do', a couple things sadly lacking in today's younger generation.

Managers of game stores are complete asshats. I know, because I was one for way too long. You become a bit more of a prick each time another customer comes in and thinks they know everything about everything. There must be a certain tolerance level or threshold of "prickiness" because I know I was getting darn near close to being one.

Prickiness = (Prickiness-1) * Bullshit^2

As this scientifically sound, valid, and accurate gauge shows, the level of prickiness is proportional to the amount of customer bullshit.

x = bullshit ; [xxxxx] = prickiness bar

psiufoxx = [xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ] = 98% toward being a prick

Just be persistent, understanding, and gently forceful if you speak with him next time. He may never be able to un-prick but that doesn't mean he should continue to lie to you. That requires a call to the DM.

I am believing this is the case man. Are you talking about the Trumbull man? Because upstairs at the trumbull mall is a Gamestop and downstairs we have an EBX near the food court and a EB by JCPenny's. I would suggest going to EBX and trying I have found my experiences there to be great, the clerk is nice (though I cannot recall his name). He tries to get you the best deals man, like yesterday when I went to EBX to buy Phantom Brave, he told me that they were out of the LE edition (he bought the last one awhile back) and checked the system directing me to EB where they had one copy left. Great service at EBX at the trumbull mall man, if GS still gives you shit try out EBX for real.

No I did not read the entire thread. Because it's a sad thread... kid wants like new Dreamcast... upset because one would not be delivered from another store... who really cares?

And I don't think it's a lame joke. I think it's pretty fucking funny.

Its not that someone needs to show you where it is in the policy to do that, but for you to see that there is no rule against doing it. :D

Tell us why a 'cheap ass allstar' would buy a Dreamcast he didn't even want? And they try to return it? And then get pissy with the store managers? And then tell his sad little story here? :)

i bought it just in case they didn't have any more locally so i'll have some type of shit to play with and second i return it cause i didn't want to get a disc error anytime soon and why did i get pissy with the manager because he fuckin lied to me and why are you a fucking moron ...damn i can't answer that sorry kid you got me there

i'd just ebay it..you'll spend a bit more.. but its worth it.. if you really want a dreamcast..

only buy things you see at that particular EB.. never get them to send things through stores.. bad expeiriences all around..

Dude, chill. Holds are part of the retail world. If it was on hold for another customer, you'd be just as pissed I bet.

Did you know your typical employer doesn't let its workers shop on the clock? If employee A starts at 9 and gets off at 5, and someone trades in an item they desperately want at 9:15, and you come in at 10:23... is it fair for A to have to pass, knowing full well he'dve bought on the spot if he wasn't on the clock? (and don't use the driving excuse... everyone has access to a friggin' phone. You could check.)

As long as the employee follows the same hold rules as the customers have to, I don't see the problem. It when they start hoarding up the rare stuff to buy 'whenever' that we have problems.

Maybe that girl who's going out of her way to get you the other DC is the employee with the hold, and that's why she's doing all this stuff that her manager says they can't.

I would purposely throw up all over the store they cant no it was intentional. And u could do it all over the games, it would be funny.

About a month ago I went to my local EBgames looking for shenmue on dreamcast. The manager was working at the time and said they dont stock dreamcast games they always send them off, but that he could see if any other stores had it. He typed it in his computer found a store and had them ship it. He told me to check back in a few days. I check back when the manager isnt working there and ask for it. The guy was like "nope we dont carry dreamcast games" and I told him the guy had another store ship it to me and he was like "well you gotta come in when he's working becuase he probably is keeping it at his house". Why the hell would he keep it at his house, I don't know. Well turns out they did have it. I went back in another few days, same guy and a new guy was working, asked about shenmue and he says "nope we dont have it" then the new guy goes "yeah, its right here, we have had it for like a week".

Just that many times they are too damn lazy to type the game name into the computer and see if its in their inventory.
