I've been trying to find some good RPGs on the DS and GBA. Anyone have any good suggestions on which ones are good?

There's also those Final Fantasy remakes for the GBA (FF1&2, FF4, FF5, FF6). I heard Golden Sun (also GBA) is suppose to be good.

Don't buy Fullmetal Alchemist thinking it's an RPG, it's actually a beat em up side scroller!

Phantasy Star Collection, Shining Force Ressurection of the Dark Dragon, and Final Fantasy V.

VI comes out really soon, if you're into that type of game.

Of the FF remakes, I've only played IV Advance, but it was excellent so I second that recommendation. Golden Sun, however, was awful. It's one of the most mediocre RPGs I've ever played and I'm convinced that the only reason anybody cared about the game was because it was one of the first RPGs on the GBA.

I thought both Golden Sun games were excellent. They weren't quite up to the level of the FF games, but they're definitely worth the money and the time you'll put into them.
Other than that, there are tons of good RPGs on the GBA--Tales of Phantasia, Riviera, Fire Emblem, all the Final Fantasy games, the Breath of Fire remakes, Mario & Luigi...
The DS is somewhat lacking at the moment, but FFIII and Partners in Time should keep you busy for a few weeks, at least.

Final Fantasy VI is probably the best game in the series. It's well worth the purchase in the next two weeks.

Agreed. Those games are garbage. Such boring, by the book snoozefests.

Riviera and Yggdra Union are two games you should look into.

2 things:

1) I approve of the avatar. Justice for All is incredible and I think it's way better than the already great original.

2) Yggdra Union -- have anymore info on that one? I heard about it's existence at one point... but that's about it. No real concrete info. What other games is it like?

It helps that the second game has Franziska. I love her. In the last case when you hear that
she got shot
I almost cried.

Riviera is my favorite so far. I like the FF games, but Riviera breaks the mold completely, in a good way.

FF3 DS is alright but very bare-bones. FF6 is going to kick ass, of course. Didn't like Phantasy Star collection (just didn't feel like the games aged well.) And that about covers all the ones I've played.

I'm playing it now - very different execution, but very rewarding and fun.

I also had high hopes for Golden Sun when I bought my GBA in 2001, but it was kind of disappointing for some reason.

I'd also recommend the Mario & Luigi games and FFV.

Contact is a great game, the combat is a little different then what you might be used to, but overall it is a great game.

I highly suggest you stay away from Tales of Phantasia, unless you are a huge fan of the series. The port itself is bad, because of the incredibly slow pace of the battles (in an action RPG series) but the localisation is horrible. The voices are horrible and so is the translation (War of Kangaroo? What?).

If you're looking for a Tales game, import Narikiri Dungeon 3.

Anyway, as for what I suggest..

In standard RPGs, I highly reccomend both Golden Suns, Final Fantasy 4-6 Advance, Mario and Luigi and Breath of Fire 2.

In action RPGs, the previously mentioned Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3, both Summon Nights and Sword of Mana.

In strategy RPGs, Yggdra Union, Riviera and both Fire Emblems.
