What happened to the value of Resident Evil 2 (GCN)

Dustwalker14

CAGiversary!
I was on ebay this morning browsing around and decided to look for RE2. I noticed that they arent going for the high prices anymore that they used to some used ones with an hour left only were 12.00 and sealed were around 36.

Anybody know what happened?

There were a couple of websites about a month and a half ago that "found" some new copies, so there is a rumor of a reprint going around.

I can pretty much confirm a reprint. My store suddenly got about 10 sealed copies of the game from our headquarters, as did the other stores in our company. So don't pay those high prices anymore - you're getting ripped off if you do. $29.99 will get you a sealed copy now.

dammit, makes me wish the guy that won my auction back in January for RE2, 3 and CVX sealed for $290 actually paid on time. He contacted me a month after the auction ended and still wanted them for that price, but I told him no, it was too late. Shoot. Wonder if he's still interested.

I'll add the confirmation to the reprint as well, I see tons of sealed copies everywhere here. You can't really even GIVE the games away anymore.

That and people flooded the market with them once the value skyrocketed. Also, I think the extremely high demand coincided with the release of RE 4. I pity the people who paid 130 bucks for thing now though...

Yep, reprint. Its funny how some people still deny it happened, even though I can find copies at Frys, EB, and Gamestop, still sealed. Especially when pricetags of some games have dates they were received because the last few weeks.
does anyone know if gamestop will still return a used item if youve already taken the labels off of the case?
Nope, cause if you took it up there without the labels, they'd just assume that you're trying to rip them off. Cause there's no way without the labels to tell that it came from there(even though the receipt says it was).

Also RE2 must've been reprinted, cause the Game Crazy store I go to somehow got a shipment of 8 new copies last week.

Gamestop does take back used games without the stickers, so long as you have a sales slip.

As for RE's value going down, GOOD. I mean, if you purchase games based on the fact that they are rare and will one day fetch hundreds of dollars, it's doesn't make much sense. Few games value ever goes up that high. Combine the fact that RE4 had just come out, and that the copies were hard to find and that's why the value went up.

No wonder that it's value dropped so quickly.

The ONLY reason RE2/3 jumped to $60+ is because of RE4. Granted, both were 'rare' do to the limited amount of copies made, but they didn't grant getting sold for that much money. I'm glad its dropped to $30.
Super, how much were they?
There wasn't a price tag with them since they were laying behind the counter. But the manager said they were going to sell them for $34.99.

Let's test this theory of yours.

I invite any willing party to give me a copy of the game. Thank you in advance.
