What has Sony stolen from Nintendo?
Actually GM put airbags as options in Cadillac's and Buicks in the mid 70s, so they were the first.

And I do believe you're thinking Volvo as they tend to be the first on most other safety items (seat belts and side air bags come to mind)

edit- http://inventors.about.com/od/astartinventions/a/air_bags.htm
Ford came second, and Chrysler was the first to offer them as standard equipment. So Mercedes wasn't even in the top 3.
Now your just splitting hairs. Volvo, MB, Volkswagon. ford, GM, whats the difference. :D

What did Sony steal from Nintendo?

Market shares.

Hehe... I still prefer Nintendo, even if my PS2 has been my most played system since I bought it with SD vs. Raw 2006.
a) I dont think it is the case that, if "Nintendo asked Sony to develop a CD-ROM add-on called "PlayStation" for the SNES" (source wikipedia), that Nintendo couldve possibly stolen the idea. Thats like saying they stole the idea from Phillips CD-i.
Yeah, I was gonna say, how about the playstation? Sony stole that from Nintendo after Nintendo decided that cds were "teh suck".

Werent analog sticks just basicaly mini-joysticks to begin with? So they stole from Atari?

You really can't say anyone stole anything, many of the advance were there outside the video game industry. Lets use CDs as an example, the logical progression would be discs becuase they are cheap and hold massive amounts of data. Everyone knew that carts had an extreme downside with thier limited space, it was only logical that a new medium was introduced.

Also Microsoft stole the standing upside ways thing from the PS2 for the 360.

Thanks for the sensible replies guys, I didn't know the bitterness was from just two innovations of last generation. I've just gotten extremely annoyed of people giving Sony shit when other systems like Dreamcast or Xbox use the rumble feature and analog sticks too.
Hmm... I have to correct my post from earlier:

If I could, I'd replace Sony with Sega.
I'd replace Nintendo with Sega. I cant think of one Nintendo title that I couldn't live without. I however love many of Sega's games.

Also, if Nintendo were replaced with Sega we wouldnt have Mario in evey other GC game, I hate mario now, Nintendo killed him (Mario DDR, Mario Strikers, Mario Baseball, Mario Tennis, Mario in NBA Street, Mario in SSX...and the list goes on)

Karate Champ had the first dual stick that I remember...

This thread makes my head hurt. Who cares!!!!!!

Its all about the games, right?

well, the analog sticks on current day systems allow you to press all directions in degrees and in more than 4 directions, plus 4 corners. WHereas the Atari joysticks were just up, down, left and right, and the combinations thereof. It's binary movement vs many degrees of movement.
