What in your opinion is the worst PSone RPG?
Lunar ... I loved it on SegaCd but thought it was dated on PSone.
 Never will I ever read another post that is spouted from your posts...

(I have found my first person to put on my ignore feature...)

Wow. Azure Dreams and SaGa Frontier are two of my top PSX RPGs...

Azure Dreams is really addicting. It has a Pokemon-esque feel to it. The setting with the tower is kind of lame...but at least it does randomly generate. It's hard at first, but once you power up your little "familiar" or whatever, it's fun. I genuinely thought the game kicked ass.

SaGa Frontier...well...the battle system rocks. For starters, they say there are seven different quests, with them totaling near 140 hours. That's complete BS. If you're a lamer and like to do the same thing over 7 times in one playthrough...then you will get 140 hours; most of that time was based on doing the same thing...seven times. Very few unique areas and such, but still...exploration was what that game was all about. Go anywhere. Do anything. The battles rocked. The combination attacks were devestatingly powerful; the enemy could do 'em, too!

I really, really disliked Vagrant Story. The gameplay sucked so bad, in my opinion. I didn't give it much of a try, but from what I played, a bitter taste was left in my mouth.

Then again, this topic should really be "What, in your Opinion, are the Worst of the Mainstream RPGs?" Most of what people are listing here are well-known and are really only "bad" in respect to the best. If you play some of the lesser-known ones, I'm sure we'd get a lot of new answers here.
Wild Arms. It's the only non-Square/Namco RPG that I played on the PSone. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just mediocre in every category. Boring graphics, gameplay, story, characters, and music.
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! i loved the music in wild arms 1!:hot:
i didnt know chrono cross was one of the 10's that gamespot gave out.
hate to stray from the topic but just to clarify, this is the gamespot perfect game list.
Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time
http://www.gamespot.com/n64/adventure/legendofzeldaoot/index.html?q=
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3
http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/sports/tonyhawksproskater3/index.html?q=
Chrono Chross

Soul Caliber

its a rare thing, so i think chrono chross can be ruled out as being the worst
Lunar ... I loved it on SegaCd but thought it was dated on PSone.
So how does that make it the worst PS1 RPG?
its a rare thing, so i think chrono chross can be ruled out as being the worst
I think it just didn't meet Chrono Trigger fans' expectations. I thought it was great, but I played it before CT, so what do I know?

I bet I'd think differently if I had been looking for a direct continuation of the CT story.
I can't think of any atm... but what about Brave Fencer Musashi? I would like to know how you guys feel about this game!
I enjoyed Musashi very much.

I actually finished BtB, although it was a chore.

I am surprised no one mentioned King's Field. I could not get into it at all. King's Field gets my vote.

just to finish this post off , and cause more confusion and contradiction, i happen to LOVE Alundra 2! the only two rpgs i played before that was ff7 then lunar, i loved the challenging dungeons and the beautiful village music and mini games. one gamers garbage is another gamers treasure, back then i didnt look at reviews and really every game i got, i enjoyed. reviews destroy games in a way:good or bad

I love Chrono Trigger, so when Chrono Cross came out I was really excited. Was I disappointed that there wasn't more of a direct connection between the games? Sure. Did I see the majority of the characters as pointless? Yeah. But I still love Chrono Cross. It's a fantastic game with great graphics, beautiful music, a solid story and a fun battle system. Whether or not you love it or not, there is no way you can call it the "worst RPG." It's qualities are very obvious.
So how does that make it the worst PS1 RPG?
Thank you! It was a damn fine remake, to a damn fine game.

(Hell, many of the people in here are naming some bigger RPG's as the worst. Haven't you folks played some of the shit that the PS1 had?)

That being said, I have honestly played very few PS1 RPG's...and all of the ones I have played were good.

Speaking of which, I'm still looking for a complete copy to match my Lunar 2... ;)

Good luck. They are pretty rough to find, as I am sure you already know...

(I'm trying to find a few more complete Lunar 2's...)
(I have 4 complete Lunars to one complete Lunar 2....that's just not right...)

Back in the PS1 days all I played was RPG on my PS. I would not say I have played every PS1 RPG but I would say 90% I have played and I have solved 60% of all PS1 RPG.
/Of course I am only talking about the ones that came to NA. I am not an importer.
//One man's trash is another man's treasure.
///I didn't have a GF during the PS1 days, hence all the free time and money.

I wasn't calling it the worst. I was speculating as to how such a great game could be on anybody's worst list.

I'm so happy that at the recent old school GC sale I found a copy of Lunar 1 and 2 for PSone. They're not complete and don't come with the case but I don't care, I just wanted the game and for $5 it was too much to pass up.
I wasn't calling it the worst. I was speculating as to how such a great game could be on anybody's worst list.
I know, I was agreeing with you :)
I actually enjoyed the SaGa games on the PSone but don't really like Unlimited SaGa on PS2 with its new crappy system for everything.
As did I. SaGa Frontier 2 is one of my favorite games. Still have a near Non-GH copy in my posession.
Darkstone.
It may have it's faults, but once you invest some time, it aint bad. I liked it, and for $10, you can't go wrong. Well, Eternal Eyes was $10, and thats a shitbomb...
Can you really judge an RPG on ten minutes worth of gameplay? Maybe you would have liked it if you gave it some more time.
Honestly, I hate when people play an RPG for 10 minutes and hate on it. RPGs are games you have to invest some damn time in. Give the game some time, and THEN see if you don't like it. 10 minutes just does not cut it. When people say "I played it for 10 minutes and hated it", they sound like complete morons.
AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! i loved the music in wild arms 1!:hot:
I loved the Zed theme, but only because it was funny. I'm not sure if they intentionally made it to sound so cheesy, but if they did, maybe I can retract my comment about the music.
