***What is my best option for unloading my whole collection?***

I have systems and games from many years ago.

I want to sell my dreamcast w/games(8) and accessories, sega genesis w/ games(5) and accessories, nintendo 64 w/games(10) and accessories, gameboy color w/games(2), gameboy pocket w/games(1), some gb advance games(3), some xbox games(7), and some nes games(4).

I want to get rid of all this stuff clogging up my entertainment center.

Now a place like eb or gamerush will be the most convenient but theyll probably give me the worst prices. If I walk away with about $300 for all of that Id be content. What are my options?..

you'll literally get less than a dollar for most of your games. And probably up to $5 for your best games (rarest and most wanted) which may be none in your collection. And you're going to get almost nothing on the systems. Your best bets are
1) Selling them to people here or other Video Game Forums
2) Ebay
3) Keeping them.

List some games and maybe I can help you out, or even take some off your hand.

Probably breaking it into system bundles and selling them either on Ebay or here. I may be interested in the Genesis myself, depending on what you have and what you are asking for. ;)

You would easily get $300 for that at GameRush. Plus they have trade-in deals right now! :D

For the older systems with games: Ebay packages for each of the systems plus all associated items is probably the best way. For the individual games: single listings on half or single/group listings on ebay. I've heard that Gamecrazy gives decent trade in value on newer stuff, but I've not personally used them. EB/Gamestop will never give you crap for trade in value on pretty much anything. If you don't want to ebay, Rhino deals more in older systems/games than EB/Gamestop. I have no idea how well they pay in trade in value though.

Ehhh, Ive never used ebay before and the shipping/getting the money aspect seems like a nuisance. Also Id rather not part these things out but rather sell them all at once(or at least in system bundles).

One guy said $300 is possible, I dont know...this is such a pain in the ass..

make a list of everything, post it here and then have people make offers. It's seems worth a shot to see what the market is for it here. There is no way a store will give you better value then here, especially since most of the stuff is older generation stuff.

I doubt it would be that much -- dreamcast systems only sell for $10 and games sell for $1 / older gameboy systems only sell for about $5 / genesis and nes games all sell for $1. And the trade-in prices would be much lower than that...

The GBA and XBOX games, however, might actually get you something if taking advantage of trade-in deals.

For anything that's not current gen you won't get enough to even be worth your time. Most games you'll be lucky to get a dollar for and then they'll turn around and sell them for $10 or $15 or more. Putting it on Ebay will take more time and require patience, but if the games are worthwhile alot of people will pay you close to what the stores would have turned around and sold the stuff for.

Well, what are the best deals out now or coming soon that I can use my newer games with? Im really not a hardcore gamer and so i dont follow all of this.

Im going to go and compile a list of all my stuff right now, taking heed of one of the above posters advice. I have some free time now anyway..

Yeah, I'd never recommend trading anything in at an EB or GS, unless they're running a trade-in deal. And if any EBs near you still take older games, you'll get next to nothing for them. Needless to say I try not to trade in stuff at either of those two. While it may be a hassle, eBay is probably your best option.

Around how much would I get for all of that if I parted it into system bundles on ebay?

See, thats the thing. Id rather not deal with everything individually because its such a pain. Itd be perfect if a collector came buy who wanted to get the whole package together, you know?

Btw, almost all my stuff is mint, everythings been kept in an entertainment center.

If you decide to split that up, I'm interested in:

Fighter Destiny 2
Mario Party
Bubble Bobble
Q-Bert
Taz in Escape From Mars
Pokemon Blue Version

I'd hate to say it, but you are going to have to bite the bullet and put some work into getting your money. I mean, your collection isn't full to the brim with rare titles, you know, someone isn't going to just see that and give you $300, I would imagine.

Question though: what condition are these games/systems in? Do they come with original cases and manuals and boxes are is everything loose? It's gonna be hard to sell any of this without a condition breakdown to go along with your list.

Good luck! ^_^

I would seriously doubt that you could get what you want for that.
If you did break it up and list it all on ebay I still think you might get at most 150 or so...

Everything I bought myself has box/manuals. Some of the NES games I got as gifts only come as cartridges(as well as one or two Genesis games). And what else, oh, some of the N64 cardboard boxes have become not so taut because of time and the weight of them on top of eachother.

Apart from that everything is mint, really.....See, if I sell them as packages on ebay separately Id get at least $300, right? I mean, Ive got a handful of pretty popular games in there..

Could you break down the fees exactly for me? I mean, how much can listing possibly be? And dont you get some back or something if your auction doesnt hit reserve?

I really dont know how it works..

You have a LISTING FEE that you have to pay just to list the item, it is based on what you start you auction at. A reserve price auction costs more to list.

You do not get the Listing fee back Unless it was listed once and did not sale and listed a second time and it sold, then you would get 1 of the listing fees back.

You are also charge for adding more than 1 picture and highlighted listings and other items as part of the listing fee.

If your item sales then based on the Final Price, you are charged a FINAL VALUE FEE as with any aucion it is a % of the final price.

Plus more fees on top of that if you use paypal...

Yikes, thats a lot of fees. So if I sold each system with its items separately Im looking at a hefty amount of the revenue gone to fees.

Meh, I might as well just keep it all. These things have been babied and I cant live with myself giving it away for so cheap. Anyway, well see..

I'd take the stuff I listed above, if you want some money...

A little bird that talks to much gave me this information.

9/9-9/11
GET an additional 10% trade-in credit on EVERYTHING except systems with your EB Edge Card. This is on top of any current deals like "More you trade, more your paid" and "Get $10 per title when trade toward"

9/16-9/18
"BUY 2, GET 1 FREE" on games,CDs, and DVD!!
He did not say if it is new and/or preowned.

I can't imagine you'll get anywhere near $300 for that, but it might be a good idea to price everything and sell it on here. I know I'd be interested in a few things.

The easiest way to get the most money IMO would be to list them on eBay, one listing per system with all games, etc. included. Start them at $0.99 and let them go. I'd be shocked if you don't beat the pants off whatever EB or GS would give you.

Slightly more effort would be to list the games that have any sort of value seperately and throw the rest in with the systems to make more auctions. Offer combined shipping, start them low and let them go. A lot of the effort with this method is determining which games are worth listing seperately.

Now the risk is that your auctions could go lower than the norm for some reason. (It happens.)

eBay does have some fees, but if you start low your listing fee is a quarter and your FVF will be about 5%, that's it. If you have a place to host photos you can avoid paying the fee for more than 1 pic... You make more on eBay vs. anywhere else that you generally come out way ahead.

I'm going to assume you've never sold on eBay. If I were you I'd list a few small things to get your feet wet. See how the fees work first hand, ship a few things, maybe open a PayPal account and see how that works, etc. Rather than dive in and list everything you have straight off.

Thanks a lot wubb, how much does it cost to put a reserve on the listing? And if it doesnt meet reserve do you get anything back?

I've never used a reserve, but I believe you pay the insertion fee as if your reserve was your minimum bid. And if it doesn't meet the reserve I don't think you'd get any of your fees back, but I also don't think you would be charged the final value fee since the item wouldn't have sold. But check eBay's help for the real skinny.

It could be really iffy, depending. If you were to sell system bundles I think you can probably get around $130 or so, maybe $140. The problem is that you can make a nice, solid amount off of the system itself but the included games, even if they are in box with manuals and maps...only a few of the games would get any additional monetary benefit for being in such great shape. That and you do have one to three titles per system that are certainly worth getting but they aren't necessarily short in supply or rare, to be fair. In the end, though, it does depend upon who ends up bidding, so it could range upwards of maybe $170, $180, but I really expect it to skew much lower than that.

What would really help you rake in the additional money would be the individual current-gen games but, even then, those XBox titles don't really sell for all that much nowadays. I think you may be able to hit around $200 to $250 overall on eBay, but that's just my estimation. One thing you have to remember, though, is that if you really want to go this route you should bundle up the systems and games now and calculate how much shipping will be for each one. The shipping may be a gigantic factor in how many people will be willing to bid on your systems and games. Also, include delivery confirmation for each bundle. It'll save you headaches in the future, without a doubt.

What the fuck are you smoking ?

and about the Ebay fees they aren't something to be scared off.. even if you bundle everything into system auctions.. and take one good picture of the systems and games together you could easily get nice prices on it.. the xbox games id list individually and you'll get roughly 5-10 i'd say each on them. the NES + games looks like your most profitable i've seen those hit in the 80s with games.. and since you have some really good games to go with it thats where i'd expect.. i expect the 64 to hit in the 60s because of mario 64 and mario party.. the other stuff i don't know about.. but DCs are becoming less and less popular.

but.. if you're willing to sell the xbox games sans ebay.. i'd be willing to buy some of them

-Amped
-Return to Castle Wolfenstein
-Unreal Championship
-The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
-Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow

I'll Pm you also..

Prices are low on classic stuff right now for some reason. It's not very much in demand.
