What is one of your favorite Game Endings of all Time?

I've been looking for a replacement for a while, because I'm pretty sure I've got everything but the cart.
 
MGS3 was incredible..

God of War was pretty sweet too.

I still need to finish the first one, but i doubt it can sarpass snake eater... even if snake eater does have that lame james bond intro song.

SimCopter. I was about 15 and died laughing when a ton of gay dudes in their underwear started kissing everyone including me.

There were also gay men in the game.
 
Man MGS3 really does overshadow most of the other games I can think of...

However, I thought the ending to FF9 was pretty OK.

I loved some of Chrono Triggers endings too -- the one where everyone in Guardia was a frog was pretty funny.. and the one where Crono, Lucca and Marle fought Toma was worth a laugh. I'm still with Strell about Earthbound. There isn't an ending like it in any other game ever made. Ever.

The ending to Gears of War. I would have never guessed it would reveal nothing helpful to the already crappy plotline. Thank God for XBL.

I agree; I think they did an excellent job making Mafia. The song accompanying the credits (with the refrain cited above) didn't really fit in with the rest of the game's style, but the lyrics were appropriate.

My vote goes to Final Fantasy X, however. The premise behind the main character's (Tidus) "situation" was kind of flakey, but I thought that the ending scenes (as well as most of the cut scenes throughout the game) were very well done & memorable.
 
god of war 1 and 2, number two i was like WTF!!!!!! HE KILLED ATHENA, and they left you hanging wanting more (which felt great) with all that action you expect on the next game. it still gives me the chills watching the ending

and for a classic i would say zelda ocarina of time woot

i dunno if anyone else said this becuase i didnt read through this but for me the best game ending has to be in metal gear solid 3 total unexpected and awesome
 
Chrono Trigger's normal story ending. To far away times is THE BEST song of any videogame soundtrack, ever.

I totally agree on MGS3. Freakin' awesome plot twists in those games, but I thought 3 was the best so far. I even liked the stupid James Bond-like song, except for the part you just mentioned. Man listening to that song while walking to school made me feel like Snake. I wanted to sneak up on people and interrogate them.

Any Final Fantasy deserves on here however, I think
Final Fantasy VI has the best ending I have seen. It caps off the story perfectly, pushes the SNES to new limits during the credits, and has a nice touch of everything.
Final Fantasy IX has the best line in post VI series ("no cloud, nor squall..") and the FMV right after that is simply amazing, if the game was a as amazing as VI, this would of beat out VI as my favorite.

Tekken series - endings are great in general, 3 allows you to watch them all

Ergheiz - Sephiroth ending montage, its like a one minute greatest hits video
Mega Man 3 - gave the series a bit of a story

Pretty much any game where you went through an epid tale or a game with good characters. the ending of mgs3 was the most emotional ive ever gotten with a video game,it wasnt much emotion,didnt cry or anything,but i actualylfelt for the characters,kinda like how you feel for characters in a realyl good movie. that game was awesome.

Similarities:

Both Conker and Kratos went on a mission that ended in them being forced to take a throne that they had no desire to take. Their endings are miserable.
