What is the best DVD/game fixer for cheap?

Somehow the copy of Dragon Quest VIII that I took out of the package, put in the system, and left there forever, has somehow managed to scratch itself, and now it won't play when I load my saved file. The only other things I need to fix are a used DVD and FFX-2.

What would be a cheap, good-working solution to my scratched disc problem? Game Doctors are $30 everywhere I turn, and that's the only thing I know of to use.

Help is appreciated greatly. :D

ive heard a cloth and a little toothpaste can be used to get light surface scratches out... maybe thisll help you? But honestly, Id go to a rental store and have them resurface your disc. The local ones here are suposed to charge like a dollar... but its free if you rent a movie. Hope this helps.

call your local used music cd stores and ask how much they charge for disc repair, hollywood video often has good machines as does gamecrazy

I know hollywood video and GC charge $2 per disc but some have a managers special, resurface 5 discs for $5.

Most of the machines are high quality, but if you resort to one of the disc doctor or other methods you will likely do more damage than good, so pay the 2 bucks and get it resurfaced professionally at a used cd store or a gamecrazy.
that doesn't fix scratches. Just cleans smudges and stuff.
Ohh your absolutely correct. I apologize... My shirt is a built in smudge remover... Thanks for the heads up

Okay, thanks guys. I wasn't aware that they offered that service to the public. :)

There's a locally owned video rental place where I live that does it for $1 per disc for "members" and $3 per disc for non-members. Pretty good deal.

I've had pretty good luck with DiscDoctor (GameDoctor, DVDDoctor, etc.) on some of my discs if you're not bothered by the swirls it leaves behind.

Try Pledge and a very soft cloth. It will fill in light scratches.

Now make sure you use pledge as its a terrible furniture cleaner but its basically a spray on wax that will fill light scratches.
