What is the point of being rich in GTA IV?

I just beat GTA IV and am filthy stinking rich but I've got nothing to spend my money on. I feel like I'm on a deserted island with thousands of can openers but no cans!

Where are the expansive mansions from previous games? Am i missing something or is there really nothing major to buy in the game with the money?

GTA IV is a very disappointing game. I loved 3, Vice City, and I still love San Andreas, but GTA IV is just boring. I'm looking forward to Saint's Row 2.
