What is the weirdest ("grossest") food that you L-O-V-E? Outweird one another!

coltyhuxx

CAGiversary!
I don't eat this all that much but a bacon peanut butter sandwich is quite tasty. No, I didn't say healthy.. but tasty, yes. Fry up some bacon.. good chunky peanut butter on some nice bread. Throw the bacon on when it's hot and it makes the peanut butter all melty.

What's up? Who's gonna have the sickest food fetish of all CAGers?

Sour Cream & Ramen: I actually got the idea from someone on the site. All my friends think its disgusting (Best comment: "It sounds like something a pregnant woman would eat"), but if you put just the right amount of sour cream on drained ramen noodles, it tastes amazing.

Salad: When I make myself a salad with romaine lettuce, sometimes ill put the dressing on and put it in the fridge for an hour or two. The croutons get nice and soggy from the dressing, and the lettuce becomes much softer. Everyone else thinks its nasty, especially since the lettuce is "wilted," but once again a preference of mine.

Leftover Burrito: Haven't had one of these in a while, but I'll take any type of leftovers I can find, slice it up onto a soft tortilla shell, and nuke it in the microwave with some ketchup or whatever condiment i can get my hands on (see below), and make a perfect snack.

Condiments: I'll put ranch dressing on anything: salad, sandwich, chips, pretzels, etc. Although this doesn't sound that strange, I am also trying to do the same thing with steak sauce. It's a great taste, I just haven't figured out the right amount to put on things (put too little steak sauce and you can barely taste it, put too much and it overpowers the food... and it's a waste perfectly good steak sauce)
Elvis used to eat peanut butter, bacon and bananna sammiches, pan fried and drizzled with honey.
Well, with a diet like that he must be secretly alive.

A bacon peanut butter sandwich sounds pretty good to me actually. Drizzled with honey sounds even better.

I don't really eat anything weird. Going to be hard to top haggis, though AN has some good creativity.

Duck blood.

Semi-coagulated duck blood with bits of duck, herbs, and ginger on a plate so it can be scooped up and eaten with this cracker-like thing.
How could you ever eat a dog :(
Oh, c'mon. I've had this discussion about a thousand times I bring this up to ppl. Besides the obvious physical characteristics, what's the difference between eating a dog & a pig? Or a cow? Or a chicken? A dog is just commonly used as a pet in western societies. On occasion, pigs are as well. So are cows. So are chickens. Hell, I have a pet dog as well (a pomeranian). It doesn't mean I'm not willing to try new things. Dog is actually quite good when prepared right (just as any other food). It's just a cultural bias towards dogs that we feel bad about hearing such things.
this cracker-like thing.
Well, if it's a piece of bread brushed with olive oil and toasted, it's a crostini.

If it's just thin slice of wheat bread toasted, it's melba toast.

They usually serve duck with melba toast but, meh, could have been a crostini.

Details. Now.
I'm a huge fan of Ostrich steak.
Me too. That stuff kicks ten different types of ass.
japan - fugu (blowfish)

philippines - sauteed dog, fried worms, fried rattlesnake

chile - chocolate caterpillar & ants
What happened to balut? I remember you mentioning that in the last clone of this thread.

I picked up the enjoyment of pickle slices and peanute butter sandwichs. Now that is something that I know a pregnant woman would probably eat. Probably the strangest thing that I've eaten on a regular basis. Though, I've wanted to try haggis sometime, that and Foie gras
What happened to balut? I remember you mentioning that in the last clone of this thread.
I tried it recently but it wasn't as good as I remembered it when I was young so I didn't include it. I think my taste buds are going bland. I used to like eating pizza all the time but now would rather opt to have sushi (which I hated as a child).

I'm kosher at home, so pigs are a non-issue. I just couldnt imagine eating something that is typically a common pet. They are man's best friend after all :(

Foie Gras is a favorite of mine as well.

i also remember eating pate once at a really, really cheapass french resteraunt (my french class went to NY, the place charged $10 for an appetizer, meal, and drink). Although i understand that some people consider it a delicasy, this stuff was nasty. It came in a perfect brick form, tasted like cat food, was cold, and I swore I tasted a few disturbingly hard chunks. It also came with some kind of condiment that tasted like chunky barbeque sauce. I made a face out of it and sent it on its way. The main course wasn't much better (Salmon, IIRC)

And I don't see whats the problem with eating dog. I see things as just the opposite: I could easily create a bond with a pet chicken/pig/cow, but ive eaten them for years, so I dont see why a dog can't be eaten.

Well, as I said, that's a cultural bias just as it's conventional for muslims to not eat pork or hindus not to eat cow. I'm pretty sure the ultra-conservative members of those religions are just as appalled at Westerners for eating those animals. As a child, I would probably be grossed out by the food I've tried out as an adult. I absolutely hated sushi - as much as the idea (raw fish) as the taste. But, as I grew up, my tastes changed and sushi is now one of my "can't live without" foods. I've also eaten balut (partially formed duck fetus) as Tiph mentioned as well as dinaguan (marinated pig's blood on rice) but the topic here is about gross foods we love and I stopped loving those foods. :whistle2:#

I really like mixing together mayo and ketchup for fries. Everyone thinks it's gross. I also really like fried alligator.

And you eat dog if you want, Jay. There's no diff. It's just what we 'think' is acceptable, which differs by culture.

I'd be more disturbed by the fact that you know what cat food tastes like.

I don't think mayo & ketchup is that gross. I have friends who use vanilla ice cream as a condiment for their fries (I have weird friends, I know). I've had alligator as well but I didn't enjoy it as much as you did. The meat was a bit gamy (read: tough but chewy). The taste was ok but the texture just turned me off.

It's a southern thing. I love 'em too. :D
I know this is nto weird, but I absolutly love boiled peanuts... no one where I live touches the stuff...
What's wrong with it? :whistle2:s It doesn't sound like it would taste bad.

Well, it's a Vietnamese dish so I think the cracker is of Vietnamese cuisine also. Anyways, I've found a picture of the cracker and I'm still looking around for the duck blood dish.

I live in latin america (ie. Miami) and you are considered a minority if you're american. Latin's just like it too much.

I really like horse. I've only had it twice though and it's like a dark meat steak... actually one of the times the consistency of the meat was like tuna - it just flaked apart.
What's wrong with it? :whistle2:s It doesn't sound like it would taste bad.
They're so good. Sort of soft, and smooth, and the flavour is really prominent and salty.

i make ranch/57 sauce/ BBQ sauce for sandwiches/burgers.. also throw in a little thousand.. good stuff.. i don't really eat anything "gross" but onion rings/BBQ belong on all my burgers..

and a... uhh... dare

I don't love it, but when I went to the Phillipines I had this dish called "balut". It's the embryo of a chicken in its egg right before it hatches. They boil it, and it hard boils around the chicken, which dies. Then you eat the whole thing, shell and all.

I couldn't actually finish it. Apparently most Westerners like us can't get near it.

What I do love is goat. Sometimes goat milk and goat cheese in a pita shell. That is excellent.

mines a kind wierdass one that no one likes. on 2 slices of toast i put peanut butter, cheese, lettuceand tartar sauce all together and eat it...quite a badass sandwich if you ask me.

I used to love balut as a kid. Then I grew up and actually looked at what I was eating, I never could eat it again..

I used to eat peanut butter on my hot dogs, but decided it was a heart attack on a bun and gave them up. Also, I used to make chocolate milk and mix it with cream soda.. I gave that up too. No wonder I was a fat fuck.

A census poller named Marcus. Ah yes, he was quite the dish. I ate his liver with a side of Fava Beans and a nice Chianti.

Still got what's left of him in the freezer. THKTHKTHKTHK!

I've eaten some weird shit, because I'll try just about any food once. However, one thing I eat quite often that most everyone I know finds reprehensible is pizza with anchovies.

all my friends think im crazy for making peanut butter and hard salami sandwiches. But hey, that shits hella good!

Nothing too weird for me.

Frog Legs- Very good when they are deepfried.
Chocolate covered Crickets- To me they tast like chocolate covered potatoe chips
Pickled Eggs- Great drunk food if you don't eat alot.
Ham, Sasauge, Turkey and cheese omlette on toast with Miracle Whip- It pretty good, just don't even eat it often as its a heart attack waiting to happen
Bear- Its good if you do the steaks right, but if you screw up it becomes very chewy. The liver is very good as a pate.
Sea Urchin- its good if its steamed but I like them raw.
Blood Sasuage- Great breakfest food with a hangover.

Off the top of my head the only thing I can think of that I like that others might find weird is scrapple with syrup on it. Cant beat scrapple when its crunchy on the outside and mushy inside. Now I'm hungry damnit.

And I think alot of people are accepting of it now a days so I'm not sure whether to mention it or not but sushi is fantastic. Especially eel.
