What is your All Time Favorite Horror Movie
The only thing that sucks about the DVD is that the picture quality is lacking IMO. I wish they could somehow re-release it in like a higher definition?
Well, do keep in mind it's an independent film from another country and wasn't backed with Hollywood finances either (unlike its upcoming sequel). You can only expect so much visual and audio-wise from those limited resources, and those results also copied over onto the DVD.
Good mention on "Ginger Snaps". Too bad last I remembered in order to get the WS version of the original you have to buy the Canadian edition.
I have it.

I love the first two GS movies, but I wouldn't really call them horror.
It's probably trendy to hate this movie, but I'll go with Blair Witch Project. I really loved the ending the first time I saw it

and the fact that they never actually show the witch on screen. Basically leaves you to wonder if there is really a witch or anything supernatural going on or not.
Seriously, really creeped me out the first time I saw it.. I thought it all seemed very real.

Dawn of the Dead ('04)
The Blair Witch Project
The Shining

It has horror themes, tones and elements so I would definitely place it in that category. Ginger Snaps series has other elements, as all movies do, but it predominately is horror. At least that's what I'm going along with - with that big ol' werewolf in the movies.;)
I would include High Tension and believe that I want to, but it's the most attrocius film that can be labeled as suspense/horror that I have ever seen. If it weren't for that god awful ending. Why oh why did Aja need to include that terrible twist at the end? Why?
Hell yeah! I totally agree with you on that! That twist RUINED the movie for me. It was fine the way it was going.... Why couldn't have been just a slasher movie, instead of trying to be all heady and cool?

Also has anyone watched slither? Me and my wife did earlier and it was pretty good! It had that nice "80's" horror feel to it(which was what they were going for)

If your a fan of evil dead or stuff like night of the creeps , I think you will like it.

I personally hated Slither.

On the other hand I thought High Tension was pretty good. The questionable plot twist at the end didn't help it, but I don't think it ruined the movie either.

*************spoilers in this post so if you have a problem then skip it***************

The plot twist obliterated the movie for me. Absolutely killed it. The entire plot begins to unravel instantaneously. Where does the truck come from, the weapon at the end, the convenience store and the camera, the other girls, etc. And to think how great the mood and suspense is in that film from the beginning. Such a waste.

Anyway I loved slither. One of the best (if not the best) *original* horror films to come out in years.

this is killing me
it is called "The Shining" not "The Shinning"

The Shining refers to a horror movie starring Jack Nicholson.
The Shinning refers to a Simpsons Episode!

But it's so much more fun to say shinning the shining.

Canada can produce some good after all!

The prequel though ... while it was well done, I just don't go for period films much.

Everyone is talking about SAW III. Do you think that gore is an essential part of horror? Does that factor into your selection of the ALL time best horror movie you have ever seen.
What's the new ending? The only end I remember is

*VERY MINOR SPOILERS (like this because I don't know how to make the spoilers hidden box) Ash sweet talking some chick how he could have been king, then a fellow worker turns around, possessed. He takes a shotgun, seemingly throws it half across the room, then he jumps on a shopping cart, going forward a few feet, and he catches the shotgun and shoots the possessed. After, he says something groovy, maybe "hail to the king"? Someone please correct me. *End SPOILERS.
The original ending sucked balls, so they changed it (seriously, in the commentary or something they talk about how the test audiences were pissed at it).
The original ending was:
Ash screws up the incantation again, and sleeps until way into the future, where it's a wasteland.
LAMEZ.

Did anyone mention Hellraiser? Oh, and the Remake of the original Night of the Living Dead.

A few favorites of mine that I have seen many, many times:
Night of the Living Dead (original)
Dawn of the Dead (original)
Day of the Dead
Dead Alive (unrated)
Phantasm

I forgot to mention "The Eye" (Gin Gwai). Fantasticly creepy movie that I'm suprised hasnt been remade in America a la The Ring and The Grudge.

Reality's Fringe;2320278] The original ending was:
Ash screws up the incantation again said:

He didn't screw up the incantation, he counted wrong. I like the theatrical version better...I'm going to GS today to see if they have the other disc.

They're going to from what I've heard unfortunately. It had kind of a bittersweet ending. Too bad Americans will see fit to fuck with it in the remake.

Everytime I watch that movie, I always think back to the show and my favorite part of it that had these lines.

Groundskeeper Willie: You can contact me by shinning
Bart: Don't you mean shining?
Groundskeeper Willie: Shhh, do you want to get sued?

I'm not a huge horror fan, although I have been getting into them as of late, but my favorite of those that I have seen is The Shining.

"Heeeeeeeeere's Johnny" haha

Hardly anyone has mentioned Dracula, Frankenstein or the Mummy. Those are classic horror creatures, but the movies aren't that scary.

By the way, HAPPY HALLOWEEN CAGers!
