What kind of spender are you?

If anything, I've seen two kinds of spenders in this world...

Are you the 'you never know when you'll die so enjoy life' kind of spender where you spend money as soon as you get it? Or are you the 'save it for a rainy day' type of spender who usually saves some of your money for the worst case scenarios.

I'm a little bit of both. I get paid twice a month. I stick about 1/2 to 3/4 of my paycheck into my savings account, then use the other 1/4 for bills, and whatever I have leftover, I use as disposable income, which ends up being used as impulse buys on games.

I am in the exact same boat. unless I am doing a project or something. Like when I was building a computer I was dropping 90% of my paycheck on it.
Since I'm a poor college student, I'm much more of a saver.
I'm a college student too and I'm a "you never know when you die" type of spender, hehe. Maybe that's why I work so much and still have to take out so much in loans.

The more money I make, the more I spend. No matter what I do, I can't seem to start saving, hehe.

Being that a sizable portion of my paycheck is going into a 401K and an IRA, I'd say that puts me in the rainy day category.

Well, I save almost to the point where I hardly "enjoy" money, but my main enjoyment comes from how much I know I have saved despite not having a job, and knowing I can spend big on that rainy day to get something really nice rather than a bunch of small things.

My g/f however, likes to spend on me so I guess I get the best of both worlds. ;)

I have a six-figure student loan debt so it's pretty much pouring every day for me so put me down for a rain day spender.

I love to spend my money, but I do put about half of it in the bank every week, but the other half I keep usually is gone by next weekend lol.

Save it for a rainy day!... SAVE IT!

I like to spend money, but I can't all the time. I usually buy something I want at the begining of each month.

I only spend about $50-75 a month on luxuries and stuff for myself. But then again, I'm a college student, and my job has shit pay, and I only work a little over 20 hours a week, so I haven't really been saving up much. But when I get out of school and start making more money I'll still only spend the same amount on myself, and start racking up on the savings.

Thats exactly what I do, man.

I guess rainy day, but I also like to get what I want when I want. Since I'm pretty reluctant to spend money on just anything, I usually have money saved for when I really do want to get something, so it's not usually a problem to just go ahead with the purchase at that point.

I save my money and spend when I need to - I'm responsible and I don't want to be working a day past 50. You've got to save for that.

I USED to be a spender. Now I've realized the error of my ways, and not only am I saving, but I am selling off what I call "The fringe" - all of those useless games/movies/cds I've bought and NEVER played nor listened to. The sense of freedom that comes with liberating myself of these "never-should-have-purchased" items is astounding.

:)

I fall into the saving catagory thanks to being in college and also having to look forward to graduate school also. Not to mention my chosen profession will not and is not one where I will make a large sum of cash (teacher) so I gotta start saving early on.

I wish I had money to spend though!

I save for a rainy day everyday. My wife was layed off a couple of years back, and suddenly losing half of your monthly household income can be an amazing wakeup call.

Employment is not guaranteed (no matter how hard a worker you are), so it's always in your best interest to build up an emergency cash fund just in case (however unlikely) you ever need it.

I'm definitely a saver.

Helps to not have any children, too.

I've got a kid already. She's not that expensive so far - just a few dollars a day on food and diapers...

I tend to save my money, but if I walk into a pawn shop and see some cheap ass games, you know that $20 in my pocket is GONE!

I'm a spender. Granted I have a decent amount of money going into savings (401K, IRA, and other savings), but I never see that cause it comes out of my checking account every month. Beyond that I don't save cause money is really just "stuff" anyway. People who save like crazy are just building up money as if it were stuff just as collectors build up their collections. It's just a collection of money.

Now don't jump all over me and tell me the value of saving your money cause like I said above, I do save and have been planning for retirement since my early 20's. But some people say, don't spend your money on useless "stuff" when I say money is just stuff itself and useless as well unless you use it. ;)

I dunno, I hear they run you more cash than launch day consoles.

My boyfriend is like that, so we kinda even each other out. I buy things a little more impulsively than I used to, he's a little more careful now. :D

That pretty much describes me... I need find a way to have at least half of my paycheck taken from me and put into some sort of retirement or investments... otherwise, I end up burning every last cent.

i'm more of a pessimist and worry about losing my job so i save. i always have a principle in buying: luxury vs necessity. always buy what's essential first (food, clothing) then buy luxuries later (nice car, lcd tv)

It is a few dollars a day by my calculations (although there is an initial expense of a few thousand for furniture and clothes and crap). She eats about 5 jars of baby food which is like $2.50 and goes through about 5-6 diapers every day (a 40 pack is about $15). I guess we buy the diaper genie refills and baby wipes every few weeks too... I don't know - there's nothing else unless I'm forgetting something major. Well, my wife isn't working so that's about $85k we are missing per year and my medical coverage increased because I'm on the family plan now... OK I guess she is expensive but it doesn't seem like it... We don't go out for dinner or anything anymore so the money we save on that is more than it costs to take care of her...
