Ok i went into best buy today well i called them up i go do you have the thing i need for my pc and they said yeap and i was like you sure you got it at this price as i dont want to drive 30 mins and they said trust them they got it

I went got in the car and drove there well i got there and BOOM price was 100 bucks more then the dude said on the phone i go i just called 30 mins ago and now they saying the person i talked to dont work there

well they got another dude who looked it up and acted like it was too bad and said nothing i can do for you and just shugs his shoulders what i thought was very rude cause i was waiting for like 15 mins to talk to him

I went to the front desk and they said they would get the big manager (this dude was nice) he walks away runs into one of the people from the back they say something the dude from the counter comes back and now the big manger isnt working today but i can talk to a middle dude

I wait 30 mins guy comes up with a big fake smile on his face and i told him what happened and he was like too bad and mean how he acted was like he didnt want to waste his time talking to me. i told them what happen and how one of the other dudes in the back admitted they talked to my cousin early in the day at that price

His offical commet just cause they told that person early that morning doesnt mean you get it I was like You just said that was never the price when i said that he got sort of red in the face and told me to call 888 best buy

so i grabbed the stupid card and called and i told them the story and they said they will forward it on

DOES best buy do anything about this I mean its total bull that i can waste 90 mins and almost 15 bucks in gas driving from and to a best buy

Anyone know if they do anything once you call in.... should i call the best buy number again in few days to see if anything will be done

cause it sounds like bait and switch to me

You actually waited 30 minutes to talk to a manager. I'd never wait that long. You know how long that is when waiting for something? That's insane. Email their coporate office. Go to their website to get the email address.

what peed me off the most was the 2nd to last guy i talked to he acted like i wasnt even good enough to be in the store. Man if i had the money i would loved to slap the 1,000 i got for the laptop pc in front of his face and tell him he just lost the store 1,000

i told the dude on the phone that they lost 1,000 and that i will never buy a pc from best buy

seems they dont have an email for the corp office just normal I will write them either way and tell them about it . Im also calling the BBB monday

he should of gotten a big ol Shaq-fu finger in his face!!!!!!and a Biiiiiaaaaatcccchh!
as I walked towards the middle of the store to piss all over the TV's and floors.

That isn't bait and switch...That's some stupid employee not knowing what the hell he was talking about and giving the wrong price. You can't expect a store to drop a $100 dollars off a product just because that's what you say someone told you it was over the phone.

2 things:

1. Those guys at Bestbuy are most likely kids being paid mininum wage; Because of this, bottom-of-the-barrel customer service is much more likely to happen.

2. Youre better off going to Dell.com and buying a computer there.

Another tip: Pulling out money and telling an employee they lost the store X amount of dollars is not only futile, it makes you look like an arrogant ass. The employees have no concern about how much money the corporation makes (Only higher managementhas that concern) and that attitude will only make less get done. The best thing for you to do is to remain collected and civilized, call the hotline(as you did), file your complaint(as you did) and follow up on it.

Management usually doesn't even give a shit if you say "You just lost $X in sales that I make here each year." You're one of a million, and they assume that you aren't smart enough to snowball the single incident that made you pissed off into a large-scale boycott.

a dude standing there admited the price was it he was telling people all day also when they say well that is 100 buxs more and say look at this thing over here i call it bait and switch ... yea i dont think i would ever pulled out 1,000 for 2 reasons

1. my luck my money would go flying all over the floor sending people in a panic grabbing my cash

2. dont feel like getting robbed on way back to car lol

Ok I guess I'm just not understanding what you're saying. The guy misquoted the price for a certain over the phone, you came in looking for that product at that price?

I'm pretty sure bait and switch is them advertising a product for some awesome price that they know they don't have in stock, and then when you get there they try to sell you somehting else that costs more. A phone call isn't an advertisment, but you could possibly call them out on it if what I described above is what happened.

Also if it was my business I still wouldn't give you the product for $100 under value. I'd apoligize to you (maybe give you a coupon of freebies) and probably axe the idiot employee who can't do a 20 second price check over the phone properly, but I wouldn't take that kind of cut into a price margin.

i just wonder how many people went into the store today and just turned aorund and walked out like it was no big deal.

the thing the peed me off the most was the way the people treated me like i was second class and how they all acted like it was a big freaking joke

one nice thing about these webpages it allows you to blow off a lot fo steam i was very upset when i got home but after writing this i clam down a lot :)

If you really want to get to them, go the circuit city, buy a computer AND the extended warrenty. Next, scan that in and email it to best buy telling them what they lost. Third, go retunr the computer to circuit city.

nah i would never do that to circuit city ( well i might buy the pc from them but i wont buy one and return it)

they was very nice to me 3 years back when i got a pc there and a year later my hard drive and cpu went out

you can never clam down too often

This crap happens to me all the time at Best Buy. My local Circuit City, however, has great customer service. Whenever BB has a nice price I just match it at Circuit City to save me the stress.

I have a feeling that if this happens to you "all the time" at Best Buy, you're more likely the one with the attitude problem than them.

Well, the good thing is you're dealing with your anger in a healthy manner.

People need to remember that the attitude you project is often the one you get back. If you go in hostile and defensive, you'll likely encounter more resistance than if you walk in there calm and level headed.

Slidecage, I hope you call the BBB instead of E-mailing them or something like that since they wouldn't understand anything that you typed up.

These stores have become so big that they no longer offer great or even good customer service. I will be suprised if corporate does anything for you.

I'm sorry but I enjoy visiting my Best Buy, I almost never get any attitude and I can always get good service. There have been certain cases where some ghetto employee forgets they are at work and bring the ghetto with them but I usually avoid them after.
But I HATE those dorr greeters, man they are annoying!

Sorry to say, but BestBuy is not about Customer Service, they are all about sales numbers. I worked for BB for 2 years, I have dealt and heard many stories about issues that go up to corporate office, and believe me when I say they just blow you off.

BB customer service is the worst!

you should file your complaint, and be done with it. just assume that something happened, because if you go through the trouble of inquiring, and finding out much wasn't done, you're just gonna be pissed off more.

seriously, this type of thing probably happens a lot at best buy, or even at other retailers, and while they should have compensated you in some way (sometimes at target, customers get like 10% off or something), most stores wouldn't lose 100 bucks on a sale because some dumbass employee answered wrong.

best buy did me wrong about 4 years ago, and i stopped going there until recently. it meant nothing to them, but i had the satisfaction of not giving them my money.
Sorry but I couldn't even read this stuff.
Word, I'd suggest having somebody help you form nice sentences/paragraphs if you send any future e-mails to a company/the BBB/whatever.

when i do send some email off i will use wordperfect 11 and do all the checking when i post to here i just use what i call basic typing

where grammer periods ect dont count

Ugh, so unreadable, so I fixed it!
Ok, I went into Best Buy today. I called them previously and the conversation went like this...

"Do you have the X item that I need for my PC?"

"Yes sir"

"Are you sure you have it at this price, I dont want to drive 30 minutes if you don't"

"Trust me, we have it"

I then proceeded to get in the car and drive over there. Well, once I got there, the price was 100 dollars more then the employee quoted me on the phone. I tracked down an employee and say "I just called 30 minutes ago", they told me that the person I spoke with does not work here.

Well, they grabbed another employee who looked it up and acted as if it was no big deal and said "sorry, there's nothing i can do for you" and shrugged his shoulders. I found that very rude, being that I waited 15 minutes to speak with him.

I proceeded to the front desk, another employee told me they would get the store manager, who was a very nice guy. He walks away and speaks with another employee, they exchange words, and come to find out, the store manager isn't even working today. They tell me I can speak with a middle management employee.

I wait 30 minutes, this fellow walks in with a big fake smile on his face and I proceed to explain what happened. He said "too bad", and acted as if I wasn't important, and I was wasting his time. I told him what happened, and how one of the employees from that department spoke with my cousin earlier about the price.

His official comment was this, "just because we quoted you X price this morning, it doesn't mean that price will be the same in the afternoon"

I say "but you said that was never the price of this item in the first place" When I said that, he got quite embarassed and red-faced, and told me to simply call 1-888-Best-Buy

So I grabbed the card from him, called them later that day and relayed my entire experience with them. They told me that they'd forward it to the higher ups.

Does Best Buy ever do anything about this? It's quite unfair that I wasted 90 minutes and 15.00 in gas to come to the store, pick up an item that was quoted to me on the phone at X price, only to get there and find the item 100.00 more.

Anyone have any idea if they take action once you call to complain? Should I call them again or just drop it?

To me, this sounds like a "bait and switch" tactic
Generally, when I have problems at BB, I tend to call the 888 number and express my discontent. As long as I'm fairly articulate and not a total ass about it, they're very good at taking care of me.

Threatening them is generally not the best tactic.

called back today and they said

The report has been filed but dont expect anything to come from it that bull they could at least gave me my gas money back
Best Buy sucks like that. As well as Circuit City. They are only good for sales and DVDs
Both stores have a thing where you can check the availability of items. Albiet that it isn't for everything, its better than nothing.

And OK, you got bad service, go to CrapUSA, ER CompUSA, you will get worse or no service.
from my experience...with the almost 10 different best buys ive been too...they're either extremely nice or extremely rude...
Me too.

I've had several bad experiences with Best Buy in the past. The best thing to do is to call the hotline like you did and tell your story to someone at corporate. I called them up for cancelling my order for Skies of Arcadia Legends without notice and they gave me a $40 giftcard for my troubles. It never hurts to bitch
