I just got back from going to Vegas for the first time in my life. Well my parents have said I've been there before, but I was a baby and have no recollection of it at all, so I don't count it.

I ended up seeing a couple shows, and I wanted to see what everyone else has seen and their opinions on it (review) so that I might plan my trip for next year :)

For the main even I ended up selecting the Blue Man Group Live at the Luxor (the big pyramid). We got cheap tickets, so we were in the very back row (ZZ) seats 40-44 which was in the center section left aisle seat 3 in to the right.

The show was pretty remarkable. They had some music playing w/ their custom instruments as well as the drums. They mixed it up with some hilarious comedy routines, and they had some audience participation.

They never say a word, but are able to communicate everything perfectly without the use of words. It's almost like watching a silent film.

There is a surprise towards the end for the back row too that was fun. As you're sitting there waiting for the show to start people come around with white crape paper and give it you some to decorate yourself. This is a way for the audience to mend together as one with the use of something common to everyone. It was fun seeing what everyone else was doing, and what you could do differently.

All in all i'd recommend this show again. I'd give it an 8 / 10. Also if you stick around outside the theater the blue men come out to meet and greet. Again they don't say anything, except sometimes, and they sound very humble and friendly - which is really cool. They will "autograph" your ticket or anything you buy by placing either a blue finger print, or a blue kiss. I got my ticket autographed and the paint is still not dry - The lady said to spray it w/ hair spray, but I haven't tried yet. We paid about 60 some dollars for our tickets plus tax and everything it was about 80 bucks. The show was 90 mins I think.

I also saw the Dirk Arthur: Xtreme Magic Show at the Tropicana (older resort on the strip surrounded by the MGM Grand, New York New York, and I don't remember what else)

This was one of the 'cheap' magic shows. I didn't want to spend a lot of money so I had basically 3 choices, Dirk Arthur, Rick Thomas at the Star Dust, or Mac King at the Harrahs. I decided to go w/ Dirk Arthur because they had a deal where you could get a ticket to Xtreme Magic and the Titanic Artifact Museum for $37 dollars which was a really good deal.

The Magic Show was decent - we had table seating on row B, so we didn't have the best view, nor were the chairs very comfortable, but hey it was cheap. The theater was quaint, and they had a snack stand - we got some popcorn.

The tricks were fairly typical, but very cool. Dirk's biggest problem I think is he's not very charismatic. I didn't really have that draw to focus on him, instead my eyes would wonder to the girls in the background :bouncy:

Speaking of girls, they were all pretty cute, especially the brunette, I think her name was Amber or something w/ an A.

Dirk also shows a tape of his animal preservation as he shows off some large cats (white tigers, tiger, no stripped white tiger, black panther, and a leopard or cheetah)

All in all a decent show, but I'm sure there are much better - if you have the cash to spend I'd go see something else, but if you're on a budget it's not bad at all.

5/10

Titanic Artifact Museum at the Tropicana

As mentioned above this was like a 2 for 1 deal. I have to say this is very very amazing. Be prepared to read too, towards the end, I grew tired from all the information. Some of these stories are just WOW. They also have the piece of the hull that they lifted there from the back of the ship. I wanted to touch it, but they have a no touching sign there. Another cool thing as a plastic like iceberg that you touch to get an idea of how cold it was.

They also had replicas of how the different class rooms looked. Some money, and a whole bunch of other artifacts that were recovered from the ocean's bottom.

Before you go in they also give you a boarding pass with an actual passenger's name on it, at the end of the museum they have the list of names of people that survived or not, and you can check if your person died or not. My person survived, but the one my dad got died. They were both 1st class too.

I'd consider this one of those Must-See things if you're a big fan of this kind of stuff. They also have an audio thing that you walk through the place w/ and I guess it gives you more information, but I declined to get that as it was more money (of course!)

If you're a fan of artifacts, or titanic in general, this is a must-see 9/10

There are the free shows too, but I'm not going to post my reviews of those... I was a little upset that they cancelled the Pirates of TI show twice when I was there and thus I didn't get to see it. I also didn't get to see the fountains at the Bellagio during night - which was something I wanted to do.

Finally, if you haven't been there I'd recommend going to Freemont for the Freemont Experience - also be there at 11:00pm for the Alien51 light show - it's the best one of the 3 I saw :)

Let me know what you have seen and would recommend - I plan to go back next year :)

I love Las Vegas, it's my favorite place in the entire world. I've seen Elton John, Celine Dion, Blue Man Group, and I thought they were all extremey over-rated, and over-priced.

My favorites shows have been the celebrity imperssination ones, those are fantastic. There's a decent one at the Stratosphere. I love going to the wax museum. Free shows are usually pretty cool too. I've seen some boxing matches on the old strip. I've seen Sevendust at the House of Blues. Overall I've found the smaller shows to be better than the insanely hyped bigger shows.

When my parents took my brother and I to Vegas years ago I remember seeing Lance Burton. I have no idea if I saw any other shows.

Before seeing the blue man group on Arrested Development I had no intrest in seeing them, but now I would go to one of their shows if I was in Vegas.

I just got back fro my yearly trip out there and this time around I saw Mac King at Harrah's. It's a comedic magic show and it is very good. The tricks were very good and it was very funny, definitely a family show . The only thing about it was that its now in the larger theater upstairs, but they decided to put way to many seats at the tables. Gotta be some kind of fire hazard. Erocktica at Rio was awesome though not for the little ones since its a topless show. Also went to the Improv at Harrah's. It was great plus I got to meet Dick Van Patton, the dad from "Eight is Enough." Once again not a show to take the kids to, plus I can't make recommendations onj this one since the comics change every other night. Next time I go out there I'll let everyone know what's best since I'll be going out there just to review shows for a local paper.

Peace and stripper grease!

I love Vegas!! I went last March and it was fucking great!!

I didn't see any shows we had so many other free things to do! Next time I plan on going to a show. I am saving up to go again this coming spring. The best part of vegas is the free drinks!

Saw The Amazing Johnathan at The Sahara. Cramped theatre, but great comedy. If you've seen his Comedy Central special, you have pretty much seen most of the act. Still recommend it.

I went there once when I was yonger with my parents, saw the jousting at the Excalibur, some Pirate show (can't remember the name), a rat pack tribute thing (cant remember that one either), and Lance Burton's magic show.

I went about 10 years ago and have forgotten what I saw. I remember seeing Siegfried and Roy, but it certainly did nothing for me.
None, which is surprising considering I live in Vegas.
How is living in Vegas? That topic came up on our trip there, and it seemed like it wouldn't be such a great thing.

Now you may be thinking 'why is that?' Well the great thing about vegas when you go there, is you're lavished in services of others, but by living there, it seems like you'd be the one providing those services to the tourists and not really being able to enjoy it...

Just a thought.

It wasn't Vegas, but I saw Frank Sinatra in concert back in '92.

Living in Las Vegas, just like living in any other town, has its ups and downs.

The Good:
Plenty of things to do if you are bored
Casinos offer good jobs
Tons of restaurants and buffets
Decent educational system (A few schools in the area offer an IB Program)
Fairly close to other places of interest (LA, Zion National Park, Area 51)

The Bad:
Terrible drivers (I was involved in an accident on the strip less than a month ago)
Outrageous home prices (Homes in my neighborhood are selling for 1/2 million)
Small plots (I think I live on less than a 1/4 of an acre)
Hot! (117°F here a few weeks ago)
If it ever rains there can be a lot of flooding
No major league teams

In all honesty, if I could I would move back to my previous home in NC in an instant. It's a shame I can't. However I don't get out very often, and naturally dislike this town, so take my opinion with a grain of salt (I tried to be as unbiased as possible). Defender would probably be a better source of information regarding Vegas.

I live in Vegas now too. I don't work so I never go to the strip unless I want to do the tourist crap. Being from NYC I am used to crazy drivers. The strip has some rough driving but that's about it. It does get hot here but just for about 10 weeks in summer and the rest of the year is great! Vegas gets about 300 sunny days a year. I just bought a 500k home and it is expensive but it's a nice minty fresh house with a pool. While some complain about their plot being only 1/4 acre...in NYC my house was even smaller and more expensive.

This town has a lot of people come and go. I think most of the time the people that leave either can't handle a big city, the costs, the gambling, or the heat. Talking to most of those who dislike Vegas seem to be from small towns or locals that just never been anywhere else. Lots of people from East Coast or Cali seem to like it here fairly well. Most visitors never venture from the strip which is a shame. It's beautiful out here. I live in Aliante and I got Mt. Charleston 30-40 minutes drive. It's a National Park and has camping and hiking and I can go skiing for about 4-5 months of the year.

I been here only 7 months but this is my town. I ain't leaving and I love it here.
