What was the last concert/show you went to?
I got so many chills when I saw her.
Ditto. It didn't hurt that she was about as far from us as if she had been playing on the other side of my living room. Great seats. And the venue is a new swanky concert hall with great acoustics. The blessing and the curse of that building is that it sort of forces people into silence, even between songs, which means the music is crystal clear and you can even hear every teeny little bit of banter and talk between the musicians, even when they're off-mic. But it has the side effect of kind of sucking out the energy, so even when you have a few thousand people in there, it's eerily still and quiet. It's a respectful silence. Makes rock shows more like classical or opera performances, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does tend to throw people off.

My wife also has a huge girl-crush on her, so she was even more amped up than I. It was a great show, one that will definitely stick with me. The opener, Jason Lytle of Grandaddy, was also excellent.

Damn, that place sounds nice. But as you wrote, that silence is probably off-putting at first. Still, I'm jealous and hope I get to see her again.

Vans Warped Tour on July 23
Saw... Dance Gavin Dance, Black Tide, Hit The Lights, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Lights, Forever the Sickest Kids, Chiodos, White Tie Affair, P.O.S., Underoath... missed other bands I wanted to see due to Thunderstorms
Neko Case last night in Atlanta. Fourth row. Still getting my bearings.
I love Neko Case. Last time I saw her was right before Middle Cyclone came out, and she played a few songs from that, which I hadn't heard. I was pretty impressed. I seem to remember her banjo player being pretty badass, too.

Better than that, though, was when I saw The New Pornographers with both her and Dan Bejar (who would wander on and off stage as necessary) after Challengers came out. That was a good time.
Just got back from free concert #4 for the summer. Sonic Youth with Awesome Color.

fucking insane.
Free Sonic Youth. Free. God, I could stab you right now.

Sorry, I'm still pissed that I wasn't able to see them on this tour. I'll get over it.

Saw Atmosphere last night. Fucking awesome show. They were atop my want to see live list, and even after seeing them, I think they still top it.

This was also one of the first concerts I've seen since moving from New York, and goddamn is it nice to go to a show and not have the whole crowd stand around looking unimpressed the entire time. That shit used to drive me crazy.

Just got back from free concert #5 for the summer. Q-Tip with B.O.B.

It was fantastic, he played lots of songs from The Renissance, some Tribe Called Quest songs, and a Beastie Boys cover.

Last concert I went to was something at the local community hall with local rock / metal bands.

I do have tickets to see Aerosmith / ZZ Top at Hershey whenever they happen to stop postponing all their dates and manage to get healthy again. Was supposed to see them July 2nd IIRC, but the drummer tore an ACL muscle.
saw Tool, My Bloody Valentine, Arctic Monkeys yesterday
How were Tool and the Arctic Monkeys? I'm about to see them at Lollapalooza Saturday, along with Rise Against and Atmosphere.

Also, I went to the Rockstar Mayhem Festival in Chicago. It had All That Remains, Trivium, Bullet for My Valentine, Killswtitch Engage, Slayer, and Marilyn Manson. Everyone who I saw had an insane show. I felt bad for Manson, though, as the crowd was just tired. He looked kind of disgusted as he threw a great show, yet some people were still leaving because he was closing instead of Slayer, or they just felt complacent and didnt want to move.

AC/DC last night in Moncton New Brunswick. What an unbelievable show these guys put on. The have an awesome entrance, and kept me rocking for a little over two straight hours with no stops!

Angus Young is the energizer bunny. He just never stops.

kid rock lynyrd skynrd
f'ing blew.
lynyrd skynrd only has 2 of the original members in it, has been reduced to a crappy cover band.
kid rock is...well...rid rock.
missed the opening band that i actually wanted to see blackstone cherry.

Considering the bulk of Skynyrd died YEARS ago, you sorta brought that one on yourself.

I saw peter frampton a couple of weeks ago. He sucked ass. He just played his album stuff almost note for note and the only song that was actually decent was do you feel like we do because it was a standard 15 min version it seemed like (and most of the stuff he played was his shitter earlier work). He even played a shitty Beatles song on the encore instead of I don't need no doctor.

Next Friday is Joe Bonamassa. Can't wait to see him rip it up, it is my second concert and the first one was fucking amazing.

The Decemberists
Heartless Bastards

Even though I had already bought my ticket, I almost didn't go to this, because something big happened earlier in the day and I wasn't totally up for it. I'm glad I did go, though, because seeing The Decemberists play "The Hazards of Love" from start to finish was pretty awesome.

Seen Jonny Lang and George Therugood.

Jonny Lang was very good, but he would of been amazing if he played blues instead of his soul/gospel mix. He can play though when he chooses too.

George Therugood was there to make a bunch of drunk rednecks happy. He was ok but pretty meh. Watching him play I realized he was not actually playing his guitar most of the time (he was pretending he was), it was his other guitarist Jim Sulher doing most of the work for him. It was funny, whenever he said beer or your friends girlfriend the crowd went wild

Johnny Lang was way better than Therugood though.

Lit at Ovation inside GVR - They were okay, but the best part was that it didn't cost me a dime and was free. Clearly they are at their best when they're playing their hit songs, as the rest of the line up wavered on so-so to passable. Then again, I heard they haven't rehearsed/played in a while because their drummer got sick and a few other things. They also seemed to be the most comfortable on stage when they were just goofing off, such as when they somehow managed to forgot the lyrics to AC/DC's Highway to Hell, though that could have been intentional as a gag or to get the crowd going. It was also fun to see them play some Iron Maiden and in the middle of the song bring up a fan to sing the song. That was kind of cool. Overall, they were still just mediocre; at least they ended well with My Own Worst Enemy. Miserable came out good as well, though Zip-lock was disappointing.

First time in awhile I've been to a concert where no one demanded an encore, and the band wouldn't have come out anyway since it was obvious they didn't plan for one.

Squirrel Nut Zippers were the concert that preceded this one, and I must say, they were 1000 times better than Lit. For a good 90s/late 90s alterna-rock band, go and see Third Eye Blind. You won't be disappointed by them for sure.

Free show in seattle:
Japandroids- finally get to see them live and was not disappointed, bought their album and got the two guys to sign it , will see them again.

Cymbals Eat Guitars- loud and crazy, will see again w/ pain of being pure heart

Viva voce- eh kinda mellow

Dinosaur Jr- killed, some teens started a mosh pit....overall ill see them again.

There was a free festival in Cleveland today. I drove up just to see Jars of Clay and caught all but the first song. It was really good. I was surprised that my cousin and I were able to work our way right to the stage.

A friend of mine was down there. During (I think he said) BFMV, the lead singer apparently wanted the crowd to sing the chorus where it instead went quiet. The silence was broken up when somebody yelled Slayer.

And as far as the Aerosmith concert goes that I mentioned earlier, looks like Steven Tyler broke his shoulder. At this rate, I'll never see them live. fuck...

That's awesome, dude. Decemberists, Kevin Devine, Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend, and Silversun Pickups are all bands I've never seen live that I really want to. I've heard good things about Ida Maria live as well.

I'm jealous!

Going to see Manchester Orchestra and Brand New in a couple months!

I went to Lollapalooza on Saturday. I arrived late, though, so I only caught Arctic Monkeys, Rise Against, Ben Harper and the Relentless7, and Tool. I must say, Ben Harper threw one hell of a concert. They really surprised me , and I am currently listening to their cd right now.

Also, how wrong is it that I wish Adam Yauch put off going to the doctor for that lump, just for a month?

Got back from Andrew Jackson Jihad. Fantastic show, well worth the hour and half drive. They are incredibly nice people as well. It was fun just to meet them.

Saw this last night. Pretty fuckin' excellent. Graham Reynolds, Peter Stopschinski, the Golden Armed Trio, and The Invincible Czars were unbelievably good. (Graham Reynolds and Peter Stopschinski are huge in the local classical scene around here. They're both among the best local musicians in the entire city. I'm super glad to have been able to see them.)
I also got in free, because the bouncer decided to pretend I invisible.

Paul McCartney last night.

Awesome show (rain aside). 2nd time seeing him and he's still great. Amazing energy for someone his age.

Joe Bonamassa on friday. He blue the fucking stage off. One of the best Electric Guitarists out there today, and even when he was playing acoustic he was almost close to shredding with an acoustic, it was that good lol.

CrueFest last night, Tommy Lee burned his hand so the drummer from Sevendust had to fill in.

AC/DC tonight which was loud as hell and Angus was freaking awesome on guitar.

The YYY's were exceptional...easily one of my favorite sets from the weekend. Did you elect to see Tool instead or just cut out early?
