What was the last concert/show you went to?

Quite a few lately in a short time span that I haven't posted about yet:

Lani Misalucha (sp) at the LV Hilton - Thank God this was free. I wouldn't have gone to see it otherwise had it not been free and the gf not wanting to see it. She has nice voice, just relies on too much Whitney Houson that's overdone for some reason.

Sin Cit Bad Girls at the Hilton - eh, lame with shitty choreography and music/singing, but it was free and there was tits (though awful fucked up fake ones)

Flogging Molly, Hepcat, Fitz and the Tantrums - Now this was a great show!!!! I have yet to be disappointed by Flogging Molly show. This was the second time I've seen them and it was great. They played at a bigger venue, the palms pearl versus the mandalay bay house of blues. What's so nice about them compared to other acst/bands is that they really pick great openers/undercard. While the concert and undercard weren't as good as their St. Pattys day concert bash bonanza when the cherry cokes (Japanese Irish punk - google them if you haven't heard - awesome) and Reverend Payton's Big Damn Band played, this one was still fantastic. Hepcat killed and kicked some major ass. They were a ton of fun to see live and the crowd was really into them. Fitz and the tantrums has really grown on me since seeing them live. I think they need to work a bit on their live act, but the music is certainly there, but then again, they couldn't play too many songs so perhaps that's why. Again, phenomenal show and will definitely pay to see Flogging Molly again. You can just tell that Flogging Molly loves Vegas as they mention it several times throughout their concert and how they spent a ton of time here. I haven't seen them elsewhere, yet, but they seem to really like the city/crowd. They also gave us this tremendous 6 song encore with some B side/rarer material than what they usually do which kicked ass.

My most recent, though, as of Oct. 27 was Bouncing Souls with Bayside, Broadway Calls, and Murder Majesty at HOB. What a thoroughly shitty show. They all sucked. I was so disappointed. All bands at this show were boring. Bouncing Souls didn't seem to even want to be there. I can't remember the band's singer now, but he seemed drunk or something with red eyes popping out of his skull and slurring his words. They gave no encore when the audience, who clearly came to see them, requested one and then went on to sing two songs for the band when they didn't come out. I have never wanted my money so bad after a show like this one. None of the undercard worked. They were all lame and couldn't play worth a shit. Just plain crap. I will never go see a BS concert again. Blech
 
Dragged the gf out to Star Wars: In Concert within the last month in LA, at Nokia Theater. Huge orchestra. Awesome choir. And the world's largest custom-built movie screen. All of this hosted by Anthony Daniels.

It was amazing. So awesome, it made her want to watch all six movies... since she hadn't seen them before, which I was previously unaware of. :)
 
The Get Up Kids at Gramercy Theatre in New York, NY on 10/30. Really cool venue and awesome show. They broke up for such a long time. Last time I saw them I was 19 or so (~8 years ago).

I'm seeing this tonight in Philly. By your review I have to ask, why did you even go? It doesn't sound like you had a great time. I fully expect to be rocked to hell tonight.

Last night I saw Pearl Jam in Philly. First time seeing them and it was unbelievable. Some shows are awesome and some shows are fun, this was both. They played for 3.5 hours and played so much random shit. Highlights for me were Why Go, Rats, Bugs (!!!) and Spin the Black Circle.

I saw Ben Folds with the Minnesota Orchestra last night. It was a fantastic show; the venue was really cool and it was interesting to see Folds play with a full orchestra.
 
Just got back from High on Fire, Converge, Mastodon, Dethklok. High on Fire was great, they always put 110% into every performance, no matter how short (30 mins this time). Converge is complete shit, I saw them open Mastodon before and they were terrible then too. The singer just seems to yell fuck constantly, I guess those are the lyrics. Mastodon was great as per usual. They played some rare songs in their second part of the set, all of which sounded incredible. I split after Mastodon because I've sampled Dethklok and they were not my cup of tea at all. The crowd was 75% teenagers no doubt there to see Dethklok. Before the show started they were playing music over the speakers and they all cheered when they played System of a Down but did not care one bit when they played Black Sabbath. I heard some guy behind me say "They're playing a lot of stoner music" during a Sabbath song, I wanted to crack him in the jaw. This is NOT my crowd.

Pearl Jam was one of my favorite concerts I've seen this year. Highlights for me were Satan's Bed, Crazy Mary, Spin The Black Circle, Bee Girl, and Red Mosquito.
 
Cirque Du Soleil's Zumanity - Got to see this one for free as well, but I must say it was a very pleasant, enjoyable, fun experience. It's a Cirque show, so you know you're getting quality. This one isn't their best show, that accolade still goes to Mystere or O (I haven't seen Ka or Chris Angel's new one, but I hear that Ka is crap/not very good at all, while Chris Angel's is uninspired and just ok), I have heard from people that have seen it that Cirque's Beatles Love is amazing and definitely on par with O and Mystere, though. Zumanity, however, is definitely the way to do a sensual/erotic production show. Sexy, but not totally overt to the point where you feel you're at a strip club. Overall it's a very fun show, with plenty of audience interaction. There just a few numbers that were unnecessary, and which hampered the show, but there is plenty of the stuff you come to expect from Cirque to forgive those certain spots of the show. By the way, the hot Asian chick in a schoolgirl outfit hanging/dangling from a cord with no harness or net under her was fucking incredible.

Saw Lupe Fiasco on the 29th at the Congress Theater in Chicago. It was called the Remember to Smile concert and it was an amalgamation of all of his songs that made him famous, including some from his demo tapes. I noticed some cameras, then was told that the show was being filmed fr a dvd. Needless to say, it was great. Definitely in my top three concerts, only on par with NIN and The Cure. I was next to the stage for the 30+ songs in his set.

Also, people texting at concerts is becoming an epidemic. We were next to the stage, and still the guy next to me was looking down at his phone half the time.

I had a good time, didn't mean that I didn't in my review. Just not really into Mastodon's Crack The Skye and that's mostly all they played that night. I thought Dethklok was great, but I'm usually not one to pay over $30 for most shows so I probably wouldn't go again. My Dethklok ticket came with a free ticket for the Heaven And Hell show a few months ago so that made it more worth it for me.

I know what you mean, the sad thing is that show prices seem to keep going up and theres no sign of stopping.

Mmmm... I love me some Gallows (opening for AFI). Passed on the show though cause I didn't want to pay too much. I saw them with 3 supporting bands for a measly 12 bucks a month ago in Chicago
 
Saw Lacuna Coil tonight in Sayreville, NJ. Awesome show as usual. Openers weren't too bad either, Taking Dawn and Maylene & The Songs of Disaster (mostly worth watching for the Rob Zombie gone hippie singer's dancing).
 
Went the Metalocalypse tour in Tulsa, OK. I'm not a big Mastadon fan, but they were pretty awesome. Dethklok was indisputably badass. Anyone who's a fan of the show MUST see it.

As Tall As Lions - really really good, I wish I could have had room to lounge and take it in rather than stand compacted around other people
MUTEMATH - amazing, best live performance I've seen, lots and lots of jamming and blissful grooves

Minature Tigers - great
.moneen. - they were really into it, would have liked a longer set, very high energy, enjoyed it a lot
Eisely - pretty good I suppose though I'm not that into their stuff
Say Anything - Most fun I've ever had at a concert, still my favorite band

Nux Vomica put on one of the best sets I've ever seen. The amount of energy and power was just ridiculous.
 
Gabriel Iglesias at the Harrison Opera House in Norfolk, VA on March 5th. Had to leave work early to try (unsuccessfully) to beat the traffic coming out of DC at 5pm on a Friday. Show made it all worth it, he was hysterical. Look up the Fluffy Shop Tour and go see it!
 
Dave Mason last Thursday. That guy could still fucking rock. Although for about 75-80% of the concert the bass player looked like he was either orgasming or on some type of drug, lol. Awesome show though.
