What Will You Get To In 2006?

WittyNickname

CAGiversary!
Strictly speaking about titles currently on your backlog, nothing that's yet to release or yet to enter your collection. Which games do you currently have backlogged that you firmly plan to beat before the end of this calendar year?

Here's mine; to further paint just how anal I am about these things, I have most of my backlog arranged in a specific order I plan to play through them, just to keep my goal-oriented mind at peace and with a clear line of progression. There may be a high-profile title here or there that might "cut in line" to be played upon release, but I think that some nose-to-the-grindstone gaming can bring me current, finished with this generation of gaming just in time for the holiday price drops on PSP or XBox 360 (which I have absolutely no business looking at with this giant list staring me in the face). Anyway, here's my 2006 backlog as it stands now, that I will attempt to clear before New Year's Eve.

(oh, and I know, some of these are morbidly old to only be getting to NOW. I'm not so much with the promptness sometimes, though at least I'm disciplined enough to stick to my playing order)

1) Pikmin 2
2) Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
3) Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille Zur Macht (yes, the first one. I suck)
4) Doom 3
5) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (again, yes, it's the first one)
6) Psychonauts
7) Dead to Rights (the first one. Trust me, you couldn't mock me more than I mock myself for just getting to this in 2006)
8) Ico (replay, in preparation for...)
9) Shadow of the Colossus
10) Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves
11) Destroy All Humans!
12) Indigo Prophecy
13) Killer 7

The rest aren't firmly placed for a playing order yet, as I expect other games will enter the backlog with more urgency, but the following rounds out my backlog and would make me completely current if I beat them all:

-- Area 51
-- Cold Fear
-- Conker: Live and Reloaded
-- Far Cry: Instincts
-- Fatal Frame 3: The Tormented
-- Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones
-- The Punisher
-- Simpsons: Hit and Run
-- Still Life
-- Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse
-- Viewtiful Joe 2

This of course discounts all of the games already out that I may eventually own, as well as stuff yet to come out for this generation of consoles. At this rate, I might be caught up on gaming before I'm dead. By about twenty minutes.

Your turn. Whatchoogamin' this year?

Really, I'm just killin time until Disgaea 2 comes out (late summer maybe?)

Currently working on Growlanser 3, intend to hit Growlanser 2 after that.

After that?

Shadow Hearts 2
Tactics Ogre (PS1)

Not too much is guaranteed after that.

I need to start over in Killer 7 because I apparently glitched out my game and cant proceed. I consulted gamefaqs and bought the guide and there is no mention of there even being a potential problem where I'm stuck. Real bummer.

Tales of Symphonia?

I dont want to sit here and only play old games, because then I'll be constantly behind the times, and increasingly so. I dont want to become one of those older people who hate all new games because they're stuck in the past. Even if it means I'll inevitably be buying games that I will actually never play. :(

Too many to list.

Cubivore: Survival of the Fittest (GC)
Indigo Prophecy (XB)
Still Life (XB)
Call of Cthulhu (XB)
Echo Night (PS1)
Countdown Vampires (PS1)
The Legend of Kay (PS2)
Drakan (Ps2)
Ghosthunter (PS2)
Galleon (XB)
Syberia (XB)

Jet Force Gemini (N64)

Paper Mario 64 (N64)
Illbleed (DC)
Maken X (DC)
Blue Stinger (DC)
Cima: The Enemy (GBA)
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (GBA)
Harvest Moon (GBA)

And that's not even cracking the surface... I have like a 400 game backlog :( I've got some serious catching up to do.

Man, I have alot of backlog from 05 still left to play... After joining cag this year I started accumulating games fast. I will throw all my games in for s spin eventually, but there are really only a few standouts that I def plan on playing in-depth.
Which games do you currently have backlogged that you firmly plan to beat before the end of this calendar year?
All of them, so I can either (a) decide to keep them or (b) sell them at Christmas on Ebay. These include Prince of Persia, Final Fantasy Tactics, Megaman Collection, and many many others that I've never even opened yet!!!

My collection is growing too large & I need to get rid of 90% of these games, so I stop tripping over them!

I don't have all that much planned yet. The biggest thing for me is an XBox 360 with DOA4. I'll also be picking up the Castlevania double pack on GBA and the New Super Mario Bros on DS. Outside of that, well, whatever's cheap.

I've set a goal for myself this year. And that is to complete 50 games before the year ends. To stay on schedule, I have to beat four games a month. So far, I've already finished Dragon Quest VIII and I'm looking to knock down a few more shorter games this month. Here's what I want to finish this year, though:

-Resident Evil 4 (Just started this game up yesterday)
-Final Fantasy X (I've already finished it, but now I want to 100% it)
-Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
-Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga
-Need for Speed: Underground (Yep, first one)
-Metroid Prime
-Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution
-Mario Kart DS

I have quite a few others but they aren't a "priority". Not yet, at least.
Good reading skills from the last two posters.

The very first line mentions it's a backlog only.
Usually when there's a long OP, people only read the thread title and post accordingly. Its a perfect example of how most people want to be heard but they don't want to listen.

Socheata, that is one hugely ambitious plan. Fifty in one year?

The last four years I've averaged about 22 per. I can't even imagine trying to DOUBLE that. Good luck.

Lesson to the kids out there: this is what happens when you pull the trigger on every major sale of the year and get your first full time job (all of these were bought for under $15, somehow). I have a list of games from this generation that I would like to try (the Ico types), and I'm sure I'll have an awful time trying to get to that point.

All are still sealed:
WarioWare Touched
Polarium
Kirby Canvas Curse
GTA Liberty City Stories
Star Fox Assault
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat
Sega Arcade Gallery (GBA)

Resident Evil 4 (I must be about half way through the game and I already want to play it again. That's how good it is :D)

Eternal Darkness (Didn't finish it the first time I played it.)

Zelda OoT (to get ready for Twilight Princess)

Zelda MM (same reason as OoT)

Baldur's Gate 2: Shadow of Amn & Throne of Bhall (my all time favorite game)

Either Icewind Dale 2 or Temple of Elemental Evil (I'm feeling the need for a D&D 3.0 fix)

Beyond Good and Evil (I've had it for a year now and I haven't played it yet)

Killzone

Pikmin (Cube)
Lord of the Rings Two Towers (PS2) - I know this one has been out for ever but i just picked it up for 5 dollars at ebgames
Guitar Hero (PS2) - still need to beat dman bark at the moon
Phoenix Wright Ace Attonery (DS)

Yep, 50 in one year. As of right now, I don't have a job nor school. So I should be able to get in a ton of time before I get back to school this fall. If you think 50 is a lot, try Warner1281's goal of 100:

God of War
Dragon Quest VIII
Metal Gear Acid
Metal Gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
Mega Man X2
Mega Man Zero 2
Devil May Cry 3
Fatal Frame
Fatal Frame II

Think I can do it?

I beat 40 last year, but I don't play as many RPG's as some people on this board. Good luck with 50

It's easy when you consider 99% of games are trash. So you really only have to beat one of them & the rest you'll "sample" & quit in less than 10 hours. ----- I just played through ~25 games this past December. Of those, 24 were trash and not worth beating.... and the 25th I played all the way to the end (which I now regret because the ending sucked).

I'm probably going to play & sell ~300 games this year... most of which are trash & I'll never finish.

On topic, I beat a whopping TWO games last year, so I'm going to try to beat whatever I can this year.

When I "sample" a game, I usually only play for 10 minutes, not 10 hours. *laughs*
I'm just making a goal for myself so that I'd be motivated to actually play/finish a game. Even if the ending of a game sucked, I'd still feel a sense of accomplishment.

Anyway, what was that 25th game you've played that you regret playing because of the lackluster ending?
