For me it has to be, Gauntlet and Small Arms. I barely played Gauntlet and Small Arms was a blind buy, I was thinking "no way in hell it will be bad"...

EDIT: ...and Frogger...that game pissed me off.

Gauntlet, since it was the first one I bought since everyone else I knew had it. I had no idea they were handling the multiplayer online like that, though.

I still want to go through it with some competent players but I doubt I'm going to get most of the other achievements otherwise. It's difficult, it needs to be well-coordinated, and playing with random basket-cases online tends to result in everyone dropping after Floor 1 because they didn't get to kill that last ghost. I really wish I could have my points back for that one.

Everything else...loving them, really. Sad that Gauntlet was the only mistake of the bunch.

Good topic.
Centipede. Not that bad just never play it. I liked Small Arms though.
SFII - the control is bad and my ability is worse. Got caught in the hype on that one.
I'm really suprised at the amount of Small Arms negativity in this thread. Not saying it is great, but I found it to be pretty fun.

Gauntlet, Small Arms, Track & Field, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Mutant Storm Reloaded.

i'm on the band wagon with gauntlet...I bought it when i first got my 360 and there is never anyone to play with. And when there is the random one person playing, they don't want to coordinate to get anything accomplished.

Double Dragon. The difficulty levels were ramped up so high on this game that it wasn't even close to being fun to play.

I regret buying DD even more because I bought it without trying the demo first. I kinda figured that it would reek of awesomeness like it did when I was 7. I was wrong.

Small Arms - Just a horrible game.

Outpost Kaloki X - I really enjoyed the demo but the difficulty really ramps up after the tutorial. I'm not a big micro-management fan so that killed it for me.

Bejeweled 2 - I had no problem with this game until it randomly deleted my save...around 36 hours into the infinity mode. Haven't touched it since.

Pretty much everything but Uno and Pacman CE. I can get bored with games easily. This is why I will never fully support digital download media. I wish i could just 'trade them in' for MS points or something.

Small Arms. The game gets a Meh rating from me. Great concept, poor execution.

Street Fighter II - Sweet Jesus can you make this game any more difficult? Even my SF guru buddies got frustrated over the ridiculous difficulty.

Not a one, so far. I'm careful about what I buy. The only ones I don't care for are part of the Unplugged disc so they don't really count because it was a package deal with ones I do like.

You Gauntlet people should get together and solve your co-op issues.

I demo games and read reviews before I buy them
Ditto. I can't think of one purchase I didn't enjoy in some shape or form yet.

I'll second galaga: theres just nothing like playing it on a real arcade machine. Other than that I still like all of mine... other than contra and hexic, but those are free. Off topic, but do people still play spyglass or will it soon be dead online.

castlevania, assault heros, and although i enjoyed alien hominid at the time i don't hardly play it anymore

UMK3. Rediculously hard and has acheivements that ruin your gamerscore. Also, Castlevania kinda. For a while I was huge into it but I don't feel like doing the inverted castle

The AI in UMK3 is easily exploited, and it doesn't ruin your gamer score if you get a 200 out of 200

As for games I regret, I'd have to say Gauntlet, Marathon, Small Arms (It's not a horrible game but there is no one to play against and none of my friends play it), Worms, Paperboy, Marble Blast Ultra and Hardwood Hearts. I own 31 games though and for the most part I enjoy them.

i'm glad i read this

i was about to dl small arms. :|

defender wasn't as great as i expected, but i used to be addicted to the arcade version

i think i'm going to get castlevania and just wait for the next batch of releases to use the rest of my points

isn't there some kind of space giraffe game hitting in august? i didn't even know that giraffes came from space, but now that i know it, i can't believe it didn't occur to me sooner. those things are freakishly weird looking.

Small Arms is about the only one. I loved the game when it came out, but quickly lost interest, and there just isn't anyone playing it anymore. SP in it just isn't much fun, difficulty ramps way up fast, and it's built to be a fun MP game anyway!

Assault Heroes is a blast
how can anyone say castlevania?? unless you had no idea what is was before you bought it and dont like side scrollers.
I'd have to say I played the demo and was not impressed so I didn't buy it ;).

What is the problem with Gauntlet? That was one of my favorite arcade games from college - I'd like to know in what way it isn't worth getting.

I just got DigDug recently and, being that it was exactly what I expected, was pleased with it. I am disappointed, though, that the digging achievement is glitched. I made several attempts before being able to dig out all the dirt and ran around a bit afterwards and did not get the achievement. This seems to be a common problem (next time I'll try running around the edges a couple times as that seems to be a potential solution for it).

Double dragon by far
I also wasted money on geometry wars. I know it is a good game, but I just don't like that type of game much. Never been a shooter fan the hype got me.

My dumb ass bought it before trying the demo. In the press release is said to have naive WS support. Little did I know they meant you could streach the screen. I played the hell of it back in High School (beat it 2 or 3 times) and the new GBA and DS Castlevanias are better. Just like SFII the nostalgia got the better of me, buying before trying. I have since learned my $20 lesson.

The people who complained about Gauntlant need more friends. I had a blast playing that with 3 people I knew.

And, if you weren't impressed by the SOTN demo that's because you haven't played it. Some genius though it would be a good idea to only allow you to play the Richter part (which isn't even SOTN, it's based off of Dracula X: Bloodlines), SOTN plays much different once you're Alucard.

I was going to get Small Arms but after all of this..then nvm..

I don't regret buying any XBLA games since my only purchase has been Bomberman Live.

I wouldn't call all of these regrets per say, but this is why I didn't like them as much as I thought I would...

Contra - turns out the NES version >>>> Arcade version
Double Dragon - Again, I had better memories of the NES version
Gauntlet - Way too hard, did I relly pump that many quarters into this game?
Joust - Not as fun as I hoped
Novadrome - Maybe I didn't give this enough time, but it wasn't what I hoped for.
Pinbal FX - seems to be lacking something
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - Dpad functionallity ruins this.

I'm glad I got that achievement the first time I managed to do it. If it had glitched for me, I doubt I would have the paitence to do it again.

Also I really don't have any regrets and I have 55 purchased arcade games.

I definitely regret buying Frogger, it was incredibly hard, and very little fun. I also regret buying Jetpac Refuelled, happy to support Rare, but the difficulty gets way too hard way too quickly. The demo was so easy, then the full game was like impossible. Those are my main two regrets, however I somewhat regret trading for Joust, but I had no idea what to expect. I also might start regretting Ms. Pac-Man, but an easy 200 GS is an easy 200 GS

As far as Small Arms goes, I really liked it, didn't play it for too long, but enjoyed it while it lasted.

I have over 30 XBLA games and the only one I regret buying is Spyglass Board Games. It's just so poorly developed and the online community sucks (too many droppers).

I almost bought Small Arms, but that demo was enough for me.

I regret buying Rush'n Attack. I enjoyed it more on my famicom (I didn't own a nes, but a famicom when I was little) since you could play with 2 players and not this BS one person plays, dies, and then the next person plays, dies, and so on. Argg...wished I researched more before buying
