What XBLA Games Have You Purchased and Regreted?

Just watched a youtube video of small arms. I have to say if it is like Smash Bros I wont like it. I have never been able to get into SB even though most the people I know think it is one of the best games ever. When the video for Small Arms started I was hopeing for a game like Power Stone.

Thankfully I haven't bought anything to regret it. I demoed just about every Arcade game first and I definitely regretted playing a lot of them! A lot of the games I used to love: Double Dragon, Contra, Super Contra, Rush'N Attack, Street Fighter II are insanely hard now and not much fun at all.

Wik: Fable of Souls and Small Arms are well made, just not fun.

I strongly encourage everyone to download the free demo first before you buy, even if it's a game you remember very fondly. Much has changed since the last time you played it!

The ones I play the most are Castlevania, Texas Hold'Em, and Bejeweled 2.

Small Arms wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but I still enjoy it every now and then so I can't file it under regrets. Probably UNO is the only game I could do without on my list. I'm pretty careful when it comes to buying XBLA games though.

"Must have" XBLA games might be a better topic.

And, if you weren't impressed by the SOTN demo that's because you haven't played it. Some genius though it would be a good idea to only allow you to play the Richter part (which isn't even SOTN, it's based off of Dracula X: Bloodlines), SOTN plays much different once you're Alucard.[/quote]

Agreed here. I never played SOTN, but did play one of the DS Castlevania games(DoS) -- I love Dawn of Sorrow, but I thought the demo for SOTN was mediocre. Thanks to SmarterChild, I ended up getting it -- and I absolutely love it. I don't know why they did that with the demo.

Anyway...Arcade games I regret. Small Arms, I guess. One player isn't very good at all. Double Dragon really annoys me, too. Besides that, I like my XBLA games(and I have about 15 more).

I kinda regret buying Castlevania, I just got bored of it after finishing the version for DS.

Uno was a great purchase though, played that for hours.

Sheesh, I was probably gonna download Street Fighter 2 as soon as I had my 360 hooked up tomorrow - is it really that bad/hard? I tried a dozen or so matches online when it first came out on Live Arcade at a friend's place - I didn't think the lag or anything was all that bad even then (didn't they improve it since then or something?). As for the AI being hard...are the guys complaining about that casual fighting fans or is it just legitimately that hard? I don't particularly have any good frame of reference to gauge the game's difficulty - erhm, I guess I could say I play SF3: Third Strike on the Dreamcast on the hardest difficulty all the time and never lose a single match (unless I fight Akuma...wtf Akuma...). So is it about that hard, or much harder?

BTW, this is a great thread for people who are just now looking into getting a 360, can't wait to see what else gets posted to help me decide what to waste those Circuit City MS Points on.

smash TV its a good game. But at the same time its Smash Tv I regret buying it.

I personally think Uno is the best value on the marketplace.

texas hold em is my vote for most value

Contra - The NES version is far better (but I got this for free).
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - Just isn't as fun when I can't taunt somebody that's here in the same room

And most of all...

Geometry Wars.

I love shooters. And with all the GW love, I figured it'd be a great buy. For some reason though, I just don't like this game.

Cloning Clyde is the only game I have purchased that was worth it 100%. I played and completed everything with that one. Loved it.

I have played UNO and Carcassonne more than most of my retail titles. Granted, I'm a Carcassonne addict, but UNO is clearly worth the free token in the Gold Vision pack.

I played the Pinball FX level 1 demo for about an hour, and was completely seduced by the graphics and physics. I purchased the game to play the two other tables: the skateboard level is simply not fun to play, and the spy level doesn't look or play as well as the demo level. I wish I had saved my money.

I totally regret buying small arms. Once i heard it was smash brothers with guns I jumped the gun and bought it instantly, insted of playing the demo.

I really regret Novadrome. I thought it would be a Twisted Metal like game, but it is ass.

I also kind of regret Alien Hominid. I'm on the last few levels and it is so difficult it totally eclipses any fun you can have.

But, again, I just want to say Novadrome + Novadrome's fanclub = 0.

Ah, yes. So I'm not the only crazy enough to think the NES version of Contra was far better. For some reason, some arcade titles were better and catchier on the NES. Thankfully, I download the demos for some games before I buy.

Street Fighter II was unmercifully difficult for some unknown reason. Then when you actually get around to beating the first opponent in the demo, you gotta do it again. Then if you somehow manage to win...that's it. You feel angry after getting the shit kicked out of you so many times.
