What's a good blog site?

I'm looking for a free blog site that has good basic customization options, good search engine key-wording and indexing, and a good community component.

I've never blogged before and I just want to test the new waters before I jump in.

Don't want myspace/facebook. That's not the type of crowd I'm trying to reach.
