whats a good game to get for the balance board?

I'm still having a lot of fun with We Ski. I'm an avid skiier and I think it replicates actual skiing very well. The sequel is coming out soon, though, so it will probably be better to wait for it. We Ski is pretty limited in it's scope and number of runs and We Ski & Snowboarding is supposed to have more runs and more features.

I just got Shawn White Snowboarding for Xmas but have yet to crack the seal due to Santa leaving a PS3 under my tree. I'll try to play it tonight and give some first impressions afterward.

I'm still trying to find a copy of Wii Fit to get a balance board but when I do I plan on getting Shaun White snowboarding. Everything I've read about it is that it's really fun.

Tetris Party has a balance board mode. No idea if it's fun or not but even without it the game is a blast and well worth the 1200 Wii points.

If you don't want to wait for a longer / more complex game than "Wii Ski", Shawn White Snowboarding is a decent bet right now. (I have played it using the Balance Board) ... the game is quite simple in its control scheme, so it's not as daunting as "SSX on a balance board". It's fun. "Skate It" also uses the balance board to OK effect, but I found the learning curve prohibitively steep if you're just looking to "hop on".

the new rayman raving rabbits game (tv party) uses it and i find that very fun i got that along with wii fit so i may just wait for we ski 2

Truthfully, the only good game (at the moment) is Wii Fit.

The problem (IMO) is that there will be games to support the Wii Balance Board--never fully use it. If they made a game designed to ONLY use the balance board, then most likely it'd be solid (again, IMO).

But, I also said "at the moment", so, who knows what else might come out in the near future.

I would agree with several others that as far as "games" go, We Ski is the best implementation of the board. Wii Fit uses the board very well for what it is, and you pretty much get it anyway with the board. I played Ski And Shoot quite a bit last week and it's the next closest thing to We Ski, plus it has target shooting and a little strategy involved in keeping your energy balanced with your speed. Unfortunately, it's cross-country skiing and everyone knows that cross-country skiing sucks. It is actually kind of fun though, and pumping your arms to move your "poles" is actually a little bit of a workout.

Beyond that, the Tetris Party balance board game is little more than a novelty. The Balance Board controls in Skate It are so finicky they are basically impossible to use reasonably. The board controls for Shaun White Snowboarding are more refined, but the game gives you very little direction. The game ends up being more of a "I wonder what happens if I contort my body this way" experience than an actual game. Honestly, as a skiier/snowboarder for a couple of decades, I find SSX Blur to be a much more representative experience than most of these, but We Ski does a pretty good job. Rayman Raving Rabbids: TV Party is fine, but you really don't need the board to play and it doesn't add all that much to the game.

I have Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum but can't bring myself to play it after looking at screenshots and reading reviews.

One game that has not been mentioned that is actually my favorite of the recent releases is Skate City Heroes. Most people probably ignored it because it has a hideous cover and looks like the worst possible budget game, but the controls are well done. They are much less sensitive than the other two "board" games and translate well to the on-screen actions without requiring additional awkward actions. It's not the best game in the world, but I would recommend it over Shaun White and Skate It.

Haven't tried it with the balance board, but I got Shaun White today and it's a blast. Highly recommended for all Wii owners -- I can't believe something this good came from Ubisoft... :applause:

I only focused on the Balance Board part of this game in what I mentioned above. As rjung states, the game without the Balance Board is really pretty good - I just wouldn't recommend it with the board over the non-board controls.
