What's harder to find, a Wii or a Pink DS?

LunaticPuma

CAGiversary!
So, I'm looking for a pink DS for my wife for Christmas. I'm pretty sure we bought the last one in our city for her mother. I wasn't expecting these to be so hard to find or I would have picked them up a couple of months ago.

Just out of curiosity, why are the pink and black DS's sold out pretty much everywhere? Anybody have any tips for finding one before Xmas? It's not like these are advertised like the Wii is.
If you don't mind bundles check Costco. I'm pretty sure my local one has a bunch in stock.
No Costco here, but that does remind me, I do have a Sam's Club membership. I'll have to try there.

Huh, it looks like you're right. I honestly didn't know they were hard to find, I got my black one a week or two after it came out and my gf got a pink one about a month ago with no problems. It must just be because of Christmas.

Wii for sure. I had an issue with finding a pink DS a couple weeks ago. Found a bunch at TRU and BB so just be persistent.

They are both in really high demand right now. I called over a dozen stores, all of them sold out of black and pink DS's, and only a few had white ones. Everyone knows the Wii is sold out everywhere.

I have both a Black DS and a Wii, so it's not a big deal.

It's christmas bub. Prepare for everyone to start buying everything in sight like a locust horde. Then again, I still see Pink ones all over here.

i had no idea itd be an issue to pick up a pink ds. after reeading this i started callign some stores. im at 7 stores and no luck so far. sucks, this was a gift for my wife.

I've been thinking about getting a black DS lite but it looks like everyone online is sold out of them. I may have to check around on Friday after my last final, and see if any local stores have any.

It is kind of bizarre that the DS Lite's are selling out all over internetland, etc. Nintendo's sure going to have the best Christmas evah.

my local walmart had like 5 pinks. I bought one the other day. The wii on the otherhand is a different story I think Nintendo stopped shipping them to Canada :p

None of them are really hard to find in NYC:Nintendo World Store,Tru times square,40-50 gamestop in nyc and tons of mom and pop stores. You are bound to encounter one sooner or later. So far Wii are much harder to find.People who want to get their hands on one have to wait at least 5am mourning till 8am when the store open for nintendo world store daily shipments of wii's

DS Lite must be popular this xmas...look at the closing prices on ebay most are closing for no less than $200CAD which is like over $50 more than it cost to buy them in stores before shipping. Craziness.

They're in pockets..I've seen a few stores where all DS are sold out, one where there's dozens of just one color, and one where there's a good variety of all..smaller stores like GS/EB are mostly sold out though

They are "rare', but the auctions come down and up, some people still price them according to MSRP. These still get shipped in every few days so while one day they are on the up the next day they are back down.

I don't blame them though, it's technically the best color out in the US, the black smudges a lot and so many people don't like the white one...

I know ebay is a dirty word around here, but it is a good gauge of what is hard to find in general (specific areas where your local store has 20 copies of Mario DDR notwithstanding ;)).

A quick search of completed Pink DS Lite auctions (leaving out ones bundled with games) gives me the following prices: $175, $158, $186, $170, $190, $180. And each of those had $10-$15 shipping on top of it. So, while it isn't nearly as hard to find as the Wii, that is an indication that they are moderatly difficult to find. I'm quite surprised actually, as I figured they'd have a hard time selling pink ones. Even my 9 year-old daughter thinks they are hideous. Though I guess I shouldn't be surprised - the pink Nintendogs bundle last year was harder to find than the Teal one.

Black ones seem to be less in demand: $172, $172, $158, UNSOLD at $170, $147, $153, $161, $166, $152. So, a *very* slight premium for these.

Surprisingly, white ones are selling for $150-$170 and maybe just a hair under the average pricing of the black ones. That astounds me as I DO see those everywhere.

But things are goofy now. Red GBA SP's are selling for $140 or so .

Edit - by the way, Mario DDR's are selling from $90-$160 (with a lot of variation for some reason) and Gamecube Gameboy players are selling for $100-$130. It's that crazy time of the year!

My little sister asked for a pink DS Lite for Christmas. Lucky for my mom, she picked one up no problem on Black Friday. I didn't think they would be that hard to find either.

Searched 3 places today for one with no luck.

I really hope I find one before Christmas, I dont want my mom to settle for a color she doesn't like.

Only 3?

Time to get serious ;)

Target restocked these last night while I was there, I didn't check the color but they had at least 3 or 4 boxes of DS Lites.

I have seen a ton of Pink DS, bunch at costco and a bunch at targets by me.

I really want a Wii and cannot find one anywhere...so I would say wii is harder :)

Wii than Onyx DS than Pink DS..We were looking for some Onyx DS this week for coworkers and only found a few white ones, one pink, and no onyx.

Nothing is more frustrating than calling electronics departments during the Christmas season. PICK UP THE PHONE!!

Hell yea. Every EB we called last week either let it rang or was busy for hours. They should all get voice messages and give messages like No parents, we do not have any PS3s, Wiis, Wii Nunchuks, etc.
