CAGiversary!
I played through to Stage 3, when the difficulty really ramps up (cheap bastard rocks) then got killed. I didn't use any of the super bombs (didn't know I had any) which might have made things easier. Plus I need to learn how to use the weapons systems more effectively on the ship and power them up through chaining.
There seems to be a lot of depth in the game, I'd say if I wasn't a huge shmup fan, I'd think my money was wasted. Plus I like hori games (Einhander and Border Down, speakin' of which Einhander where are you on PSN...) so with time to learn it's quirks I think I'll have fun with it.
Yeah, I got just a little bit past the huge drill guys. F those things are tough. It is almost impossible to not get hit by one of them. Kicking it down to very easy made it a little better. I got up to 3 credits now, so my next go around will be a tad easier.
I've got 4 of the 5 tokens in the 1st level and I can't seem to find the 5th. I don't know what you get if you find all 5. I read that if you find four of them it opens a secret area or something like that.
Overall, I think the first game is a good game. I haven't been the hugest fan of those R-type-like games, but somehow I just love games in HD (even ones in genres that I usually don't care for).
There used to be this game on my Atari 800 that I loved called Aquatron; that's about the last one of these types of games I really liked.
