What's in the PS Store (5/31/16): Neon Chrome, Oxenfree, Primal, There Came an Echo, Plague Inc, & More!
All kinds of stuff about foreign PS Stores
I have zero experience buying things off the UK store.

What I do have experience with is the Japanese store. I always get 3000 yen cards partially because they seem to be the easiest to find and partially because they're not too expensive.

I don't know much about your taste in games but if you're looking at Einhander, why not look up some stuff about other shooters? Off the top of my head, Raystorm and Raycrisis are good. Same with G Darius. If you're into run and gun games, Metal Slug and Metal Slug X are passable ports.

Anyhow, my point is that you can probably find five games that you'll enjoy on the JP PS Store, there is a pretty impressive variety.

Thanks, I really don't care for the Irem / Taito shooters too much (I love R-Type Final but despise the other games in the series), matter of fact other than Einhander I own no other shmups on the PS1 (I played some Gradius Gaiden, and thought it was good, but still not evolved as much as Gradius V, I like Salamander/Life Force better than the old school Gradius games)

I own over 30+ shmups on DC and PS2 on the other hand. I loved Gradius V, Ikaruga, Gigawing 2, Border Down, Under Defeat, Ibara, DoDonPachi Daijo and others. I already own the Metal Slug Anthology, so that takes care of that, I know there's many PS1 games on the JPN store, but of the things I would be interested in getting, I either already have in English, or they are too Japanese heavy, or I have little to no interest in anymore (2d Fighters, I had to force myself to play through SFIV, I just don't enjoy playing them anymore)

What I might do is just get a 1000 yen card for now, get Rakugaki, then if enough stuff comes up buy another two and get my 3000 yen worth of games and have no waste.

Something that I need to look into is what Amazon.com is doing by offering d/l codes for games, I might just be able to buy Dark Mist through Amazon.co.uk and skip buying PSN cards altogether (except the JPN way).

Again thanks for the advice.

Anybody else have any ideas that might be useful?

Thanks again for the advice Halo, I just bit the bullet and went on Ebay and got a 1000yen and 150hk card, the 1000 yen card was $8 over cost at $18, playasia had one at $16.50, but with shipping, it ended up being $19.40 shipped. And the HK card was similar I paid $28 for a card valued at $21 US, plus I won't have too much waste on it, and maybe if I'm lucky I can find another game to buy for the 62hk remainder I'll have left.

I don't mind paying a little bit for someone's trouble, but that trouble shouldn't be highway robbery. (Shoulda had my brother in law pick me up some when he was in Japan 2 months ago, but I didn't have money to do it, nor was my PS3 online at the time either)

Problem solved, thanks again for the advice.

Is the US store down for anyone else? I'm getting the "This is not available in your country/region" message that usually means the store is down.

Yes, its down for maintenance.

From Twitter (@sonyplaystation):

PlayStation Store's undergoing regularly scheduled maintenance for a few hours today. We'll update when completed. Thanks for being patient.

I'm guessing its related to the upcoming 3.10 firmware.

yes finally re2 has made its way to the us ps store!!!!!!!!!!!! gota say i was expecting it to be 9.99 considering re1 was 9.99 but im not complaining 4.99 is a price that will have many people jumping all over this. now commencing to whine about wanting re3 on us ps store already.

Now that RE 2 is finally out I hope they can start on the remake if they haven't already. Oooh Pixel Junk & LBP demos. What is this Promethus game?

did anyone play the arrange mode on re2 before? i dont recall it being in the original was there a dc of the game like they did with re1?

I think we'll see a remake of RE 2. They've remade the first, translated it to Wii, same with RE 0, translated RE 4 to Wii. Though they may have to do somewhat of a reimagining than an upgraded port. If they bring the original trilogy to Wii though with RE Archives 3, we may have to wait a while. Jun Takeuchi is interested in remaking it.

Sweet, I'm down for RE2 and Soul Reaver. Both great games although nostalgia may not help out Soul Reaver as much as RE2. The thing about Soul Reaver is that it was staggeringly impressive when it came out. A PS1 game with no loading?! I loved it when it first came out.

yeah it was impressive until the dreamcast version came out. sucks that they never finished the story though.

I actually have the DC version and I'd say that if anything, it's less impressive given how much more powerful the DC is. It's just the PSX version with cleaned up graphics. Still a great game but not the technical achievement that the PSX original is.

I'm not picking up anything this week, but the PSOne Classics collection has grown nicely recently. I'm happy to see some of the selections coming out for it, as well as the price. $6 for RE2 is a pleasant surprise.

Hell, they're almost up to 100 PSOne titles in the US store.

I did buy Bonk's Adventure for PC Engine on the Japanese store this week though. ;)

it ran at a faster framerate too i had both versions and those few improvements added alot to being able to enjoy the game. i think you could see farther in the distance too. i remember that game being very frustrating but all in all im glad sony is releasing ps1 games at a good price. and im glad they added analog controls to re2 jus wish they did the same for ff7.

now all i want is parappa the rapper, re3, ape escape and maybe dino crisis 1 and 2. oh and tenchu 1 and 2 that way i can get rid of my copy of tenchu.
Good job Capcom! Now just put in the Megaman Legends series and I'll be happy. :D
If it's that much more worth your time, Bonk's Revenge is also available. Which was equally good at the time, IMO. Never did play Bonk 3 or Air Zonk, though.

The day the PSN Store gets Legendary Axe 1, though, it's on like neckbone.

They probably didn't add anything, but just released the DualShock version of the game.

whats the chances of them getting some neo geo games up for download? i know kof is up but id pay for metal slug or samurai showdown as long as they have online play.
There's a free episode of Voltron (Season 6, Episode 5) in the video store. I'm sure it's as awful as any other episode in that series any anime series ever.
As long as they don't have any input lag, I'd be all for it. Oh, and if they did, Online co-op would be so awesome. GGPO ftw!

is that old school voltron or tht crappy 3d remake they did a while back?

I dunno about NeoGeo but I read in the GameInformer that Sony is pushing to get some Dreamcast games. Thats a plus at least. Hoping to finally get Berserk without paying 100 bucks for it. Oh and RE2 for 5.99 is a great deal.

RE2 is up? I guess I got go download that. I've been wanting to play it again for a while and decided to wait for it to his PSN.
