For the life of me, I just cannot get in to Alien Breed. Does the game get any better? I feel like I've played this before...
Did you play the PSP version? Could be more fun with coop but yeah it just sort of stumbles along. Which is how the PSP version felt to me then too.

Are you confusing Alien Breed with Alien Syndrome, because AFAIK, there isn't any PSP version of Alien Breed?

Wow, I think I'm more surprised by the fact that WD's still owns the rights to publish the games in digital format (since I know they own the localization rights since they did the work) other than my copies of Lunar 1 & 2 that I sold this past Dec., I owned quite a few of the WD PS1 releases (I had all of the RPG's except Vanguard Bandits) and I have Silhouette Mirage too, which they altered too much and got on Treasure's bad side because of that) The only reason they got to publish Silpheed was because of Game Arts owning the rights and not Treasure.

He runs the new sunsoft games site, since he's the liaison and producer for their US branch. http://www.sunsoftgames.com/

Glad to see that the niche market is opening up more since Monkey Paw started getting their games out here recently. (Patiently awaits a NTSC-US release of Vib Ribbon, I only have the PAL version)

Yeah, crazy Vic used to screw around too much with imports when bringing them to the US, especially bumping the difficulty to annoying levels. But heck, I will be all over Alundra at the very least. And dare we dream about the Saturn version of Dragon Force coming to a download service some day?

Yeah language mistake. I was thinking more 'kin' perhaps. Easier to just post the titles. But it seems to me the latest top down alien shooters aren't pace well at all. Regardless of who has been making them.

Amazing news.

I'll grab Alundra for sure, what a fantastic game that was.

I don't remember a lot of Arc the Lad but I do remember that being great as well.

But seriously? I wouldn't mind having it, but the thought of getting it almost makes me laugh. Those saturn era games are nightmares and the emulation for that is a lot more lengthy then the PS1 emulation which is done and amounts to ripping an iso.

Haven't played them yet (yes my backlog is so ancient Moses was still alive when I started buying some of these) But Arc 1 (from what I've read) is only 12 hours long, just a heads up for those interested in it and to make sure you're getting your monies worth. But I do recommend Alundra, there hasn't been a game like it since, which is a shame.

At least one Japanese guy has cared enough over the years to keep his project going for Saturn emulation, but I agree it's a pain, which is why MS had to fund (and convince) Treasure to port Silvergun to the 360, but also Sega has done a lot of Saturn conversions in their Sega Ages collections over the years so it's not impossible by any means. Just time consuming, and apparently not worth the effort financially, since they don't do it very often.

We can keep hoping, I guess. ;)

I have to agree that Arc 1 was very short and is really more like a demo for the vastly superior and incredibly awesome Arc 2 (so please buy Arc 1 everybody so that they bring #2 over).

I never played the first Alundra but from screenshots, it looks like Beyond Oasis/Legend of Oasis, which were great games! I hope they can bring over Alundra 2 as well because that was a great game, too!

Are there any good Sega Saturn emulators? They should obtain one of those and use it if they can. Saturn is one of the few game systems I barely ever got to play and it does have quality games. They sort of just skipped over it and went from Genesis to Dreamcast.

Arc The LadIn ancient times, people understood the delicate balance that existed between the physical world and the five Guardians, The Romalians, bent on global conquest, began to shatter the balance that existed between the two worlds. Only by using the power of the Ancient Ark to stem the dark tide will humanity have any hope of life. The only one that possesses the power to use the Ark is a young lad named, oddly enough, Arc. Now, Arc shall embark on a quest to discover what really happened that fateful night ten years ago. Along the way, he’ll meet many new friends who shall become powerful allies.

Alundra Grab a weapon and become the dreamwalker Alundra as he struggles to purge the evil of an ancient world before it falls to ash. Explore dungeons, find weapons, solve challenging puzzles, and kick some serious monster butt as you weave between tense reality and nightmarish dreams to save the hapless masses.

Here's my review for Alundra:

Its awesome. Buy it. 11/10 A+

Its the best thing you could possibly spend $6 on tomorrow.

I never played Arc the Lad, so I can't help you with that.
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/10/11/section-8-50-off-on-psn-prejudice-coming-to-ps3-in-2011/

The Section 8 devs are permanently dropping the price to $14.99 starting with tomorrow's update. I may not be a fan of the game, but I admire their desire to keep it in the spotlight with constant sales.
I admire their resolve, but this game shouldn't be priced any higher that $10. I bought it for $5 from amazon, and enjoyed it for that much.

Zenonia looks like it could be fun for a few bucks, but I think they'll price it at $5, which would be about $2 more than I'm willing to spend on a mini.

Even though this has nothing to back it up, I'll take it.

I'm always down for some action semi-zelda-ish games so its up my alley... though a real review would be good.

I was browsing the HK and JPN stores last night (speaking of which there is a nifty FREE halloween theme up on the HK store) and noticed that Arc 1/2 and Arc Arena: Monster Tournament are (I think) available in one, if not both stores.

I won't argue about Alundra 2, since I owned it before Alundra 1, but I know it was not a well received game by series fans. I enjoyed it for what it was though, but I'd say it isn't high on peoples want list, per say.

Sorry was going to reply last night, but having connectivity issues with the ISP.

SSF is probably you're best bet, it's the only one that's been in continual development for years, the drawbacks are that it can't play ISO's (you need a physical CD or they have to be mounted via daemon tools or another disc mounting program) but that's where I'd start, there were a few French developed one's but the devs lost interest and the were stalled (to my knowledge)

And I know Sega bought Cassinni (similar to how Sony bought Connectix VGS) but I seriously doubt they'd buy out a fan developed emulator this late into the game, plus they have all of the source code for every game they've ever made, so there is no reason to do that anyway. Just port it to a new system and walaa.

Note: The list below is NOT exhaustive by any means, nor is it meant to be.

Here's a few standouts from my personal research:

Panzer Dragoon Saga
Astal
Radiant Silvergun
Albert Odyssey
Burning Rangers
Die Hard Arcade
Dracula X
Dragon Force
Guardian Heroes
Legend of Oasis
Shining Wisdom
Shining Force 3
Nights...into Dreams
Donpachi
Dodonpachi
Thunder Force V
Tryrush Deppy
Virtua Games
Fighting Vipers
Last Bronx

There's probably a few more out there like Warps' D & Enemy Zero (I do own D2 on DC though), but they're a bit to quirky for me or I'm not overly familiar with them or omitted them purposely, but that's not saying that aren't good too.

That should give anyone with an interest in the saturn someplace to start and something to plead with Sega to release on the DL networks. ;)

Thanks for sharing. Right now I'm not interested in emulating anything on my PC. I would like to see Sega do it though and offer them up on PSN. My thoughts are that they should just buy an emulator because maybe they don't think porting them is financially worth it. You probably know this, but there is one game they lost the source code to, Panzer Dragoon Saga, which is the game I want to play most. That's a great list.
I'll be buying Sonic 4 tomorrow.
Please share your impressions. I'm holding out because I'm a bit outraged that they'd expect me to pay $15 for each episode. That's at least $30 for the full game. I never got that into Sonic back in the day.

Just think of Alundra as a darker themed Zelda. Very good game, I dont know how well it will hold up but it was a very good game back when it was released.
I was browsing the HK and JPN stores last night (speaking of which there is a nifty FREE halloween theme up on the HK store) and noticed that Arc 1/2 and Arc Arena: Monster Tournament are (I think) available in one, if not both stores.
Thanks for the heads up on the Halloween theme. It's actually pretty nice :applause:
Hmm, I was actually contemplating buying Sonic, but after trying the demo it's simply not worth $15.00.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy it, but I'm going to play the demo first. Just in case there's that one in a million chance I don't like the demo.
What is the RE5 Untold Stories Bundle?!
i think its that prequel story with chris and jill going after wesker in some castle or mansion or something.
What is the RE5 Untold Stories Bundle?!
It's the combo for the previously released episodes. One episode has Chris and Jill going after Wesker (prior to RE 5), and the other has Jill and another mercenary trying to escape during the RE 5 plot.

It's actually both, the prequel chapter Lost in Nightmares (Jill and Chris), plus the story of Jill and Josh trying to get out alive in Desperate Escape. Nice price if you don't have the gold edition and want to play the two new chapters.

Edit:  ^^ umm... exactly.
No prob. I don't see Sega doing any more than what they've already done, and since those emulators are for PC's they wouldn't be much use for porting to consoles. And I didn't know that about Saga, but yeah they only way to play it right now is on a real Saturn or a PC via emulation.

Has anyone picked up Zenonia? I almost bought it on IPhone, but I disliked the virtual controls. However, I have seen comments that this port has some issues with lag.

I've played an emulator made for PC on PS2. I dunno if it would be that difficult to get them running on PS3. It's very disappointing to see them ignore Saturn and keep pushing the same Genesis games over and over.

Japan store update included a few unremarkable PSOne games, save for Sunsoft Memorial Series #4, which includes ports of two games: Ripple Island (meh) and *Blaster Master*.

fuckin' a, man. Just in case, it's ¥600, and Blaster Master is a direct port of the NES version. English friendly in that it features little to no text (if memory serves). Only Japanese I came across was the title screen.

I wouldn't know what you're referring too unless your talking about Action Replay's thing they bundled into the AR MAX that played genesis games, the other one I know about was some Neo Geo Color thing I played Faselei on briefly, but I don't want to go any further with this discussion than that.

But as I said before they've only done a handful of Saturn titles as PS2 ports and maybe a few PC ports here and there, the sad fact is the system just didn't get much love by regular Joes and Sega as a whole, it seems like it's the system they want to forget (kind of like how Nintendo is with the Virtual Boy)

I just wish Sega would have released Wild Riders on DC before they pulled the plug on support.

Anyone have a list of all the PSX deals that have come and gone as part of the 15th anniversary? I'm curious as to what I've missed so far.

I know I missed the MMX remake being on sale, which I have on UMD but I wish I would have bought for my Go.

Costume Quest — A childhood dream come alive created by Double Fine’s lead animator, Tasha Harris, Costume Quest follows the adventure of a group of young friends who must rid their neighborhood of monsters using only their wits, their bravery, and their home-made costumes. Players go door-to-door collecting candy, points, cards, battle stamps and quest assignments as they prepare themselves for Combat Mode — where they transform into larger-than-life versions of their costumes. Explore the various neighborhoods, complete quests, discover hidden areas and trick-or-treat your way through this spooky Halloween night.PS Blog Coverage: 5 Inspirations Behind Costume Quest, Coming to PS3 October 19th

Tomb Raider Underworld — For generations, stories have been told of the fearsome weapon of Thor, the Norse god of thunder. In an ancient ruin on the floor of the Mediterranean Sea, Lara Croft uncovers proof of the Norse underworld and the mythical hammer. As she attempts to unravel the secrets behind these myths, Lara’s perilous journey leads her toward a forgotten power that, if unleashed, could lay waste to all civilization.

Aqua Panic! — A giant cyclone has sucked up thousands of fish from the oceans! It’s an ecological disaster! Tanks of water are immediately assembled throughout the world, so that all the fish can be returned to the oceans. As the sea creatures start falling back to Earth, someone must make sure they land safely and quickly since they cannot survive for long out of water.

PSone Classic Imports

Shienryu — Twisting alien dogfights. Towering armored mechs. Smoldering molten metal. Your life expectancy here is measured in seconds. If you’re not one of the best, you’re a smoking crater. Fly alone or with a friend-this is survival of the quickest!

Tall Unlimited – A challenging puzzler where gamers must build a tower with different colors of blocks. Combo and chain moves can be put together to rack up points and build the tower to the top.

PlayStation minis

Age of Hammer Wars — Age of Hammer Wars unlike any other game features battles of flying machines equipped with various slashing, piercing and blunt weaponry. Previously known as Hammerfall on PC it achieved critically acclaimed status by becoming IGF finalist in 2008. The game is set in steam punk universe with rich storyline and breathtaking scenery. A unique combat system is based on realistic physics simulation, and it ties the movements of the rider to the movements of analog stick. As you wave it, your rider swings his sledgehammer, smashing the foe into the wall! This creates an unmatched feel of the real strike, a feel of the mass of the weapon in your hands. The aesthetic conjures stark imagery of an industrious, romanticised era, and there’s a variable and long campaign that will bring hours of entertainment.

I was going to jump on CV: SotN for $5, but missed it, plus I'm still not sure I needed a 3rd copy of it (I have the PS1 & PSP ver. already) and I don't know how much I'd like the new VA'ing either.
